Has Jamie Dornan as a man who finds himself in Australia with amnesia trying to piece together who is trying to kill him. Has been likened to the film Memento with Guy Pearce. Looks promising.

I imagine big honcho crime investigator has cancer or a chronic illness- it's vulnerability & or a secret

Ilovelblue · 03/01/2022 20:48

@SoupDragon

She was in Our Girl too. Sounded completely British.
In Our Girl, she was supposed to be from Colchester I think so a real Essex girl. She's obviously good with both English and Aussie accents.
Blondeshavemorefun · 03/01/2022 21:45

Yes the tube was blocked from Sand

But also said he had 4hrs and they were much longer then that due to the storm

friedeggandsauce · 04/01/2022 07:23

When Luci finally said she knew Ethan I said to dh oh that explains her accent, she will say she's English now as her accent slipped and then she went back to the Australian accent again! I'm finding that a bit annoying!

I'm enjoying the rest though

the80sweregreat
I can’t bear the way Nicola Walker does this, it Really. Gets on my. Nerves!
I find myself concentrating on the way she talks rather than what she’s saying.
There was another actress who did it in a drama a few weeks ago, one where the teacher killed the child.
Side note, my eldest looks like JD but younger. Feels wierd thinking he’s good looking.

Leftbutcameback · 04/01/2022 10:34

I thought Luci was coming out as English when she confessed she knew him - but then realised it was an accent slip!

I don’t reckon helicopters cost that much in an area where everyone uses them (cattle ranchers etc) , and it certainly didn’t look like the brothers were good businessmen!

Delatron · 04/01/2022 22:33

I’m enjoying it on the whole.

The money thing is annoying me though. They made a big deal about Helen giving him 30 dollars then he only had 20 for the B&B place. Then stopped mentioning money. How the helicopter was paid for. Etc etc.

WobblyLondoner · 08/01/2022 10:08

@StCharlotte

The girlfriend was in Line of Duty in case anybody else was wondering where they’d seen her before, I had to check IMDB.

That would explain her intermittent Aussie accent (not a spoiler Grin).

Oh thank you, I knew I'd seen her in something before.
Newestname002 · 09/01/2022 10:25

OMG. This is such a STRANGE programme- and I'm absolutely hooked!! I've been binge watching over the last couple of days and working my "little grey cells" to understand the convoluted plot. Amazing show. 🌹

Inkanta · 09/01/2022 15:41

Think I'm the only one unimpressed by this series, and remained irritated with the stutter/ pause/ smile acting from Helen - too distracting.

Mrsjayy · 09/01/2022 16:21

Dh has stopped watching after ep2 I might watch 3 but I'm just meh about it!

WeAreTheHeroes · 09/01/2022 16:30

The thing with Helen is her self-esteem and confidence are on the floor so every time she speaks to someone - especially when she's uncertain what she should be saying/doing anyway - she is second guessing what they may think, etc. It's irritating, but I think it's realistic.

Inkanta · 09/01/2022 17:47

It's irritating, but I think it's realistic.

Yes I thought there was exaggerated overacting of this lack of confidence and that it wasn't realistic in the life or death situations she found herself in. Usually we move out of people pleasing mode then.

charliebear78 · 09/01/2022 19:32

I love Helens Character, she has such an expressive face.
Enjoying this, I am almost finished-no spoilers from me!!

Bitbloweyoutthere · 09/01/2022 20:18

I think part of Helen's speech comes when she talks to Eliot. She clearly fancies him and I think is slightly flustered at how nice he is to her, whereas he fiance is a grade A cock. I quite like how we're led to find Ethan more vile than any of the others.

OhWhyNot · 09/01/2022 21:22

Bugger I have watched this episode thinking I was watching episode 2 no wonder I was confused Confused

It’s enjoyable. Something about the outback is very eerie but liking the humour too. Read they are making a series of The Dry by Jane Harper it’s an excellent book

salsamad · 09/01/2022 22:01

The first two episodes were promising but honestly I’m now starting to loose patience at the bizarre plot and the slow pace. Danielle playing Helen is over-acting anxious & hesitant and there are plot holes eg. how has Eliot paid for food, lodging, helicopter etc with no money after the accident/amnesia.
Then tonight the ridiculousness of the bloke chasing Eliot surviving a scissor attack, falling backwards head/shoulders first into well and then getting out of the well with no help and seemingly no injuries 🙄.

powershowerforanhour · 09/01/2022 22:01

Nobody here says stick we say manual. And if you remember how to use a smartphone you'd hop in and drive a manual car like you'd flick the kettle on for a cup of tea.

powershowerforanhour · 09/01/2022 22:04

Grin at Helen saying, so Jamie Elliott I'm going to have to cuff you to me

powershowerforanhour · 09/01/2022 22:08

"The thing with Helen is her self-esteem and confidence are on the floor" She'll be better now she has shot to kill. She missed but it doesn't matter, she's officially psychologically badass now.

IcedPurple · 09/01/2022 22:12

Icelandic/Texan guy is really overacting too, which is a bit annoying. He seems more like a caricature than a character, and no way could he have survived that fall on a concrete surface with seemingly minimal injuries.

I agree that the pace is slow, interspersed with a few moments of action. Doesn't help that both leads are rather bland. Could be bad acting or script, could be the way the characters are written. Either way they're not terribly engaging.

MajesticWhine · 09/01/2022 22:14

I am enjoying it. Interesting concept- are you still who you are if you lose your memory.
There are a few ludicrous plot holes but it's still enjoyable and a bit different. Some brilliant characters.

Bitbloweyoutthere · 09/01/2022 22:24

Tbf, I did wonder about the not being able to drive manual. Surely most people in uk/europe learn to drive manual, unless specific issues.

Bitbloweyoutthere · 09/01/2022 22:26

And yes, Icelandic man was much better in Trapped.

OhWhyNot · 09/01/2022 22:56

Now all makes a bit more sense having watched all episodes

It like it. Yes plot holes but entertaining

I learnt to drive an automatic learnt in UK (was struggling with gears and wanted to pass quickly)
