Has Jamie Dornan as a man who finds himself in Australia with amnesia trying to piece together who is trying to kill him. Has been likened to the film Memento with Guy Pearce. Looks promising.

I laughed when he put the crook lock on the car in the deserted street and Also talked about missing rush hour 😀

LavenderAskew · 09/01/2022 23:14

@powershowerforanhour

Nobody here says stick we say manual. And if you remember how to use a smartphone you'd hop in and drive a manual car like you'd flick the kettle on for a cup of tea.
I think you would though if you were in a country and speaking to someone from that country that does say stick.

The money thing is daft, and I found the not being able to remember how to drive while he can do all other things a bit daft.

Overall, I'm liking it.

I was waiting for Helen to find out that it was actually Ethan’s fault that she was caught in a shoot out, as he sent Beardy Caricature Man to her!

The ending was a bit of a shocker though - with LuciVictoria knowing Beardy Caricature Man!

sashagabadon · 10/01/2022 08:02

It had a few breaking bad vibes for me yesterday. The Mexican twins scenes and the old man watching TV.
I’m enjoying it

LavenderAskew · 10/01/2022 08:27

They were Mexican? Thought they were Greek!!!

IcedPurple · 10/01/2022 08:29

I don't think this show is anywhere near as clever as it likes to think it is.

Piggywaspushed · 10/01/2022 08:30

Definitely Greek!

WeAreTheHeroes · 10/01/2022 08:48

Greek - I speak a bit and recognised several words, as well as the accent.

LadyEloise1 · 10/01/2022 09:02

I like it.
It's quirky.
But you do have to suspend disbelief - how could big American guy be up, walking and able to plot revenge after being stabbed in the back, whacked on the head and falling down the well backwards Hmm
What's Jamie doing for money ?
That poor deaf man.
I wasn't surprised Luci appears to be a "bad un".

LavenderAskew · 10/01/2022 09:03

Oh good, I'm not gone mad (yet).

I've just looked up the cast list. For those of you who watched Heartbreak High back in thr 90s, the actor playing Kosta played Nick in that. I didn't pick up the name of the other (presumed) brother (also couldn't see him clearly) so can't check who he is.

Bitbloweyoutthere · 10/01/2022 09:08

Nick the one with long hair? He had ishoos?

dayswithaY · 10/01/2022 09:20

I'm can't stop thinking about how bad that T-shirt Elliott is wearing would smell and that he hasn't had a shower for days. No shower, no change of underwear?

I am enjoying it, despite ridiculous things like injured man crawling out of a deep well. It reminds me of Fargo.

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/01/2022 09:39

Still enjoying

Why is billy and his boss after Elliot

Agree being stabbed with scissors plus falling backwards out of a well plus climbing out unaided a bit unrealistic

Fiance is def a prick and she will reliese that

LavenderAskew · 10/01/2022 10:00

@Bitbloweyoutthere

Nick the one with long hair? He had ishoos?
No. Well he has ishoos (didn't they all). He was in the first few series, had a younger sister, a mother who cooked well and expanded into a business and then died, got replaced by a housekeeper who the father then went to Greece with the run a hotel (or something).

He was unpleasant and very jealous with his girlfriend but I think we were supposed to view him as a heart throb.

sashagabadon · 10/01/2022 10:43

Sorry I meant the evil twins in breaking bad were Mexican. That scene with American and his cowboys boots just reminded me of those two twins. Apologies for confusion Grin

Jamie Dornan is so sexy he smells of perfumed air at all times. True fact.
LifeInAHamsterWheel · 11/01/2022 11:42

Oh God I'm really not enjoying this now, it's almost embarrassingly bad. It's not a patch on Coen Brothers, there's nothing clever about it. It's got too many holes and the scripting and acting is awful in places. DH wanted to turn it off but I said we'd stick with it just to find out what happens. But I'm disappointed, I had high hopes (yes, based solely on JD!!) and they've been completely dashed!

Bitbloweyoutthere · 11/01/2022 21:12

Lavenderaskew I've gone down a heartbreak high rabbit hole. I was thinking of Rivers. Didn't he have an affair with a teacher? I know hh was meant to be all edgy. I remember watching it, but can't remember where I watched it.

Yes with a teacher who looked like Kylie Minougue from memory.

It's now on netflix. I watch a few episide and all of them shout their lines. Which was quite annoying, I don't recall that from way back in the 90s.

I kind of feel the same. It sounded great in theory but it's let down by mediocre acting and script writing, as well as plot holes wider than the Outback.

Since I'm half way there I'll continue watching, which is probably a 'sunk cost fallacy' but however. "Fargo" it is not!

StorminaBcup · 12/01/2022 21:59

I had such high hopes for this as the premise sounded great but the acting is worse than Sons & Daughters. Even Jamie’s leading role isn’t saving this. Such a shame as he was great in The Fall. Perhaps it’s better if you’ve also drank a flask full of LSD? Hope it isn’t being lined up for second season.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 13/01/2022 07:31

oh i like Helen, and want her to ditch her fiance
i was not surprised jd was annoyed at luci, why on earth would she keep it a secret that she didnt know him
why did they run from the police
bit slow but i am invested in it now

TheWatersofMarch · 15/01/2022 03:50

@summertimerolls yes first scene, it's almost a quote from Duel, (I had to Google to remember the name, so creepy). The whole first ep
has that menacing suspense. It's really good.

MaryAndGerryLivingInDerry · 15/01/2022 20:08

@mummagirl

Jamie's father delivered my twins. He was every bit as gorgeous and suave as his son. Now both twins have beards in their twenties too.
Jamie’s father delivered me! And he popped in to say hi when I was delivering my son. He was very good friends with my mum, they worked together. (I wonder if my mum was with you when your twins were born??) If my daft mother had been a bit smarter I’d be Mrs Dornan now. Hmm Grin

I’m on episode 2. Not sure if I’m enjoying it. Surely if someone calls you and says they’re buried in a barrel underground near a waterfall you call the police? Confused
