Has Jamie Dornan as a man who finds himself in Australia with amnesia trying to piece together who is trying to kill him. Has been likened to the film Memento with Guy Pearce. Looks promising.

I must say, the particular dynamic between Helen and her ghastly, controlling fiancé is not something I recall having seen on TV before. She is by any objective standard a delightful person to look at - it’s constantly eye-widening to see how he’s made her believe otherwise.

Very clever in the midst of all the nonsense.

Doubly sad about both erm … the people at the end. (Am watching on iTunes so not sure what’s a spoiler, or not.)

They have really made a feature of taxis!
@Justkeeppedaling I really wanted to love it, I love JD! The continuity was bothering me the whole way through, one minute he can't drive the next he's driving along like normal 😂 and the never ended drink being slurped. Just didn't get it.
You just have to "go with it" for the story and acting. It's not real life.
Inconsistencies like that, whilst I notice them, don't get in the way of my enjoying a good yarn.

charliebear78 · 20/01/2022 14:54

I think what made the show for me was the humour and the character of Helen..I loved every scene she was in.
Enjoyed the dynamic between her and elliot.

Huntswomanonthemove · 20/01/2022 15:34

I agree and the sub plot between Helen and Ethan was very interesting.

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/01/2022 22:09

Least we know why he's a dirty cop

Loves All the memories / explained the story - but think we can blame it all on victoria in being unfaithful and stealing her fiancé's million 😂😂

Or his Brother

pastaparadise · 24/01/2022 00:22

Not rtft so this may have already been mentioned, but just read that Jamie Dornans dad died of covid whilst he was quarantining in oz ready to film, so he couldn't fly back to see him. And his mum died when he was a teenager. So presumably he was grieving all the while when having to film? Feel for him.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/01/2022 07:40

Oh that’s sad :(

LadyEloise1 · 24/01/2022 09:36

I thought it was very poignant, the scenes last night where his screen dad was on his deathbed. How difficult that must have been for Jamie if his dad had recently died .
I hoped it was filmed prior to his father's death.

pendeen123 · 24/01/2022 18:21

I am a massive JD fan and I was really looking forward to it...but actually I found it dull and lacking authenticity and barely credible- the amnesia plot is such a lazy trope....plus there are two golden rules in film and TV and this broke one of them, namely the romantic female lead can never be overweight, don't bother posting I know there maybe a few exceptions but they are incredibly rare..zzzzz

DaggerIsle · 24/01/2022 22:35

There is one scene in episode 5 that makes the story about Jamie Dornan losing his father while filming very poignant.
I have to say I really enjoyed it.
It was crazy in a way and I loved Heartbreak High guy- he was clearly having a ball!
The ending worked well I thought.

butterpuffed · 26/01/2022 19:07

Just seen episode 5, I'm always behind even with tv pace Grin

Thoroughly enjoyed the flashbacks , which explained a lot but thought they went on for too long, all the flitting about , but looking forward to the conclusion.

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/01/2022 19:49

I liked the flashbacks. Explained well

MrsLargeEmbodied · 26/01/2022 19:54

that was my favourite episode

Tonkerbea · 29/01/2022 20:38

Nearly gave up on this as it feels try-hard, like it aspires to be Killing Eve S1 clever (but it's no way near the same league), however episode 5 was an improvement. I think JD and Helen have zero chemistry, so it doesn't work as a will they/ won't they.

LiterallyKnowsBest · 29/01/2022 23:50

Sigh …

It all feels so contrived, now. Started with an interesting (if unoriginal) premise - but they’ve prioritised twists and turns over building a truthful narrative. Impossible to feel invested in any of it, apart from wanting a good outcome for lovely Helen.

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/01/2022 16:01

Looking forward to tonight’s

LiterallyKnowsBest · 30/01/2022 21:13

First time watching live!

Looks weird on an actual TV.

powershowerforanhour · 30/01/2022 22:00

Noooooooo

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/01/2022 22:09

Oh wow. So he was a bad drug dealer who caused the death of 2 women

Wonder why she (Lena) said she mixed him up and didn't get him to stay in jail

What happened to bad ass locklyn - did he go dooooooooooown

Does giving up a million dollars make him a nice man who is trying to chnage his ways

Thus Helen and him get together ?

Will there be a s2

LiterallyKnowsBest · 30/01/2022 22:12

They really didn’t know what to throw into that final episode, did they?

Sadly the “let’s just try everything” approach was ludicrously unconvincing. The lost woman was brought in much too late - that would have been a whole other series.

Disappointing.

powershowerforanhour · 30/01/2022 22:22

Lachlan was an odd character. I take it he was terminally ill..they would have let his wife come and see him in prison and they could have spent his last moments together. He didn't need to drop Helen in it. I can sort of understand him killing Lemon in desperation, but after his wife was out of danger I thought he'd come clean. Disappointed in him.

LiterallyKnowsBest · 30/01/2022 22:29

Yes. Potentially a really interesting character - but there’s no way that that particular man would have falsely accused Helen. But he also wouldn’t have shot the irritating junior cop. So ill-conceived all round.

powershowerforanhour · 30/01/2022 22:51

"But he also wouldn’t have shot the irritating junior cop. "

I think he would have found a way not to kill him. He had hot close fighting skills so could have worked out something to do. I really wanted Lemon to not really be dead and come to in the boot of the car and somehow make it out alive in comedic fashion.

Sundayvibes · 30/01/2022 22:54

Gave up after episode 3
Didn’t enjoy it at all.
