Has Jamie Dornan as a man who finds himself in Australia with amnesia trying to piece together who is trying to kill him. Has been likened to the film Memento with Guy Pearce. Looks promising.

I really enjoyed it. Didn’t think it was “slow” in the slightest, it was intriguing and definitely going for Fargo quirkiness - particularly the police officer.

The girlfriend was in Line of Duty in case anybody else was wondering where they’d seen her before, I had to check IMDB.Grin

eddiemairswife · 01/01/2022 22:20

I'm going to re-watch on i-player, seem to have missed the man who is buried. Tired of actors with beards.

the80sweregreat · 01/01/2022 22:20

I thought she looked familiar
Clearly very dodgy too

the80sweregreat · 01/01/2022 22:23

My twenty something sons have beards , I really hate them ( the beards not the kids !)
They look younger when they shave them off
Eldest has a bushy one , looks awful !
I have a ' beard phobia' ! Although Jamie's beard is ok oddly enough ..
Strange that !! 😂

Piggywaspushed · 01/01/2022 22:24

Surprised you can remember 80s... Grin

The Big beardy guy is Icelandic IRL.

the80sweregreat · 01/01/2022 22:27

The truck driver / potential killer is American
The ' man with no name ' has a soft Irish accent , but Helen isn't contacting any embassies!!
Deleting photos isn't foolproof either , they can still be picked up by tech people who work for the police.

cobblers123 · 01/01/2022 22:29

Not a beard fan, although I do know couple of blokes with nice trimmed beards, I don't mind those ones.

The bushy straggly ones look like pubes stuck all over their face. Yuk!Shock

the80sweregreat · 01/01/2022 22:31

Eldest has his beard groomed and trimmed sometimes but it still looks rubbish ! He would look so much better without it.

powershowerforanhour · 01/01/2022 22:34

"The ' man with no name ' has a soft Irish accent"

It's pure norn iron and if they put a picture of his bake on a few Northern Ireland facebook groups they'd probably get a load of people who went to school with his wee sister and used to work in the paper shop with him at weekends in about 5 minutes.

the80sweregreat · 01/01/2022 22:44

Helen needs mumsnet to help her out , we would find out who he is within a few hours !

MamOfTwo · 01/01/2022 22:48

I liked it. May need to rewatch though as I thought the buried alive guy was locked in a car boot rather than underground - must have been distracted there!

Kendrickspenguin · 01/01/2022 22:51

I hope Jamie can help buried man. The scenes with buried man were making me very anxious.

Why didn't young cafe lady tell Jamie that she knew him? Did older cafe lady know that the younger one knew him? Did she deliberately spill lemonade on him to get him out of the cafe before the explosion?

Why did he hide his phone in a koala?

I am very confused.

Bagadverts · 01/01/2022 22:53

Watched, not sure I can face five more episodes as it seemed slow. Far too much of the soundtrack indicating how you should feel.

I know it adds to the drama but a few really obvious things missed. Why did the police put a complete rookie on a case of a missing, quite possibly foreign national. How about police following up on the photos?

Even if refused why was he not offered psychological or MH support at the hospital?
Also can’t believe nurse wouldn’t have reported tho visitor to the police if only that they can show cctv photo to Mr No Name.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 01/01/2022 22:55

The girl from the restaurant who was looking through and deleting the photos - was that "man with no name" with her in the pics? DH thinks it was the guy who's buried underground. Bit I think it's Jamie Dornan.

I agree it's got Fargo vibes but it's
not a patch on it really. Fargo is far sleeker, better comedy etc.

This is all very far-fetched but like others I will continue to watch just to see what the story is and to drool over JD

Bloodypunkrockers · 01/01/2022 22:56

I loved it. I like slow build ups and questions and puzzles that become clear as the drama progresses. I'd hate to "get" it all in episode 1

I did an audible gasp at the cafe girl with the phone. Interesting twist

And hopefully this will be a voyage of discovery for the police officer and she can lose a whole 20st - and ditch the dick

The underground bit made me feel very anxious too.

IcedPurple · 01/01/2022 22:58

I know it adds to the drama but a few really obvious things missed. Why did the police put a complete rookie on a case of a missing, quite possibly foreign national. How about police following up on the photos?

A also noticed that the police officer just emailed the pics to the personal email address of the 'guesthouse' older. Not very secure. Surely she wouldn't be allowed to do that with what could possibly be evidence in a criminal case?

the80sweregreat · 01/01/2022 22:59

Helen won't lose weight ordering ' sides' ! ( I'm not fat shaming at all , I'm overweight myself )
I hope she loses it though.
Her boyfriend is being good cooking healthier meals.
How can a mobile work underground?
Must be running out of battery too.
Poor bloke ( unless he is baddie and of course
Cafe lady not telling him who she was is weird !

Cocolapew · 01/01/2022 23:02

If the police put his face out on NI social media or got in touch with the Embassy then it wouldn't be a very long episode never mind 6.

Bloodypunkrockers · 01/01/2022 23:07

I saw something on Twitter they said if his pic was in the telegraph they'd have his whole
Life history in minutes

mummagirl · 01/01/2022 23:14

Jamie's father delivered my twins. He was every bit as gorgeous and suave as his son. Now both twins have beards in their twenties too.

LadyEloise1 · 01/01/2022 23:18

@Rollergirl11
Will this thread have spoilers as I know it's on BBC iplayer ?
If not ( and I hope not ) perhaps you ask for the title of the thread to be amended please with no spoilers added to the title ?

hamsterchump · 01/01/2022 23:26

What was the point of the scene of the man weeing while he was on the phone and why was he weeing though a tube or something, were we meant to get why that was?

crimsonlake · 01/01/2022 23:34

My first thought was 'Fargo'
Don't understand how anyone can say it was too slow? I spent the entire episode asking questions and found it gripping.

Thickasmincepie · 01/01/2022 23:59

American guy is in the Icelandic drama 'Trapped'. He's better in Icelandic.

Piggywaspushed · 02/01/2022 07:33

He was also in The Missing (the one in Amsterdam) and The Widow (the one with Kate Beckinsale), neither in Icelandic and he was great in both.

Loved Trapped!

As a side note, he was actually born in Connecticut.
