Just finished episode one and need to talk about it!!!

Didn't like much of the episode to be honest. But the ending! I'm floored! Was not expecting that.

I am disgusted that Carrie just discarded her cigarette in the street!!!

But I liked this episode but felt v sorry for Steve. I think Miranda will find out Che isn’t right for her and still go ahead with divorcing poor Steve.

x2boys · 20/01/2022 19:28

If they are so woke ,and educated why have we not been educated about Lilly,s Chinese heritage ?
Or that international adoption can sometimes be a contentious issue?

MagdaTrudy · 20/01/2022 19:45

To be fair we've had tits for years, glad to see some other sex organs!

CloseYourEyesAndSee · 20/01/2022 19:46

Harry's peen must have been a prosthetic no?? It looked weird!

JustJustWhy · 20/01/2022 20:59

Best episode yet in terms of being in the spirit of the old SATC.

No wonder Charlotte saw more in Harry than anyone else did!

Steve broke my heart. Miranda's in for a huge fall.

I actually understood Steve. It sounds like he thought they'd come to a calm part of the marriage and he was happy with that. The way he said he can't go through drama again - I really understand that.

I looked for an interview with David Eigenberg out of curiosity. He doesn't seem as old as they are having Steve act, but he's developed a different way of speaking from before. Similar to my cousin, who is 50 and his mannerisms and speech have changed a lot in five years.

I loved how they kept repeating "you still blow Harry?" 😂😂

greatape · 20/01/2022 21:37

God I loathe Miranda. Does she have no compassion? She blows up Steve's life and thinks it's ok cos he loves her enough to want the best for her. She extended him no such love or respect. I really hope she catches Che with someone else.

I also was distressed to find myself not hating Che actually. I mean clearly the stand up bit was shite but I though they were pretty decent.

Twizbe · 20/01/2022 22:24

I read something about the guy who plays Steve. Apparently he has hearing aids in real life. When they first approached him about the reboot, it was the first thing he told them. They had to write it in. If his hearing is bad his speech will have changed too.

Wtfdidwedo · 20/01/2022 22:25

If you don't look at the screen and just listen to Charlotte it definitely sounds like she's had her mouth numbed at the dentist! I loved Carrie's cigarette outfit.

stringbean · 20/01/2022 22:36

The actor playing Steve has hearing loss, so I can understand that his speech has changed if he can no longer hear himself clearly.

Why do they insist on Miranda wearing those hideous clumpy wedges?? Surely someone could have shown her how to walk in them - she looks so awkward!

Purpleraspberry · 20/01/2022 23:27

Tonight's episode has been the best yet, aside from wanting to slap the self-absorbed Miranda on the phone to Carrie in the taxi, and seeing Harry's penis (sorry but.... , it didn't even look real Hmm ).
I know it was spur of the moment, but surely if Lily was in the house at all, Charlotte would have closed the door.. why would you even attempt that with the door wide open if you know you're not alone in the house?

My predictions are:

 • Miranda will find Che with someone else, if not in Cleveland but at some point.
 • Steve seemed very doddery - possible early dementia storyline..?
 • Che dumps Miranda and Steve is with someone new.
 • Carrie gets together with cute guy from the podcast in first few episodes.
 • Lily is lying about who the photos are for.

That's interesting, I googled in episode 1 and got this, which says he isn't, but I can see now it's wrong

www.hitc.com/en-gb/2021/12/10/is-david-eigenberg-deaf-and-just-like-that-actors-hearing-aid-explained/

My cousin is also deaf btw but he has been for decades...perhaps the altered speech means it's deteriorating more.

GreenClock · 21/01/2022 00:31

Steve seemed frail. I hope the actor is ok.

Wanderingowl · 21/01/2022 00:53

David Eigenberg currently plays an active fire fighter on Chicago Fire (and guest stars in it's many spin-offs) and is nothing like doddery old Steve. A lot of the work on that show would be physically very demanding. In fact last year he was the main focus of a bottle episode that was included a 28 minute long scene, unheard of in television. He has hearing loss, but he's a fit active man in his 50s with some hearing loss. He's not doodery. In fact, not to be gross but he's kind of ripped.

I think Harry and Steve both look way too thin as well

Compared to the women they just look really little

boogiewithasuitcase · 21/01/2022 09:00

It annoys me that in AJLT Steve is written as if he lives in a care home during the day and then returns home to Miranda at night!

tvcc · 21/01/2022 09:23
@calliecapers we never saw the downstairs before and yes it her old apartment but it’s somehow expanded to 4 times it’s size 🤣
Didn't Aiden smash down the walls to the apartment next door?

EmmaH2022 · 21/01/2022 09:44

tvcc

i think we saw that being patched up when they broke up.

I don't think the apartment seems bigger. I have the old S&TC book and I keep meaning to look at that section.

Doesn't Carrie even have a sofa bed for guests?! Poor Lily looked squished and they're both so slim!

KillingMeDeftly · 21/01/2022 09:53

@tvcc Yes he did. And then Carrie bought him out of the apartment when they split up, I think? I can't remember where she found the money though. It was that episode where she got annoyed that Charlotte wouldn't offer her a loan.

Charlotte gave her ,her engagement ring from Trey to use as a down payment ,I think they agreed it would be a loan .

KillingMeDeftly · 21/01/2022 10:26

I remember Charlotte offering the ring but I thought Carrie refused in the end? It's been a while since I rewatched the original series so I'm probably misremembering!

Carrie did accept it and presumable paid her back

She accepted it with the promise that she would pay it all back.

And while Miranda is being horrible and insensitive, tbh, Steve's argument in favour of their marriage was pretty bad, "come home, talk about Brady, eat ice-cream, watch some tv. That's life Miranda, married life." It's would have been more realistic for him to say, "I'm content with how we are but I can see that it's kind of a rut and not great for either of us. Lets commit to making more of an effort to have fun with each other and break out of my comfort zone."

Miranda said they've already been to couples therapy twice, he said something along the lines of how he can't fight for them again and how sometimes he wasn't enough for her, then for a while he was again, then he wasn't.

So they have had a pattern of struggling with the relationship, and have tried many times to fix it! but now he's too tired and feels too old to even try to fix it and now she knows for sure that she doesn't even want to fix it anyway!

Lottapianos · 21/01/2022 15:29

Agree that Miranda is in for a shock sooner or later. But maybe she really has had enough of her marriage and will be content to start living alone. The scene with her and Steve was very well done. I felt for him - my DP and I have been together nearly 17 years and I love doing cosy, routine stuff together. I would be so shocked and hurt if he said he needed new adventures and was off

Carrie sitting in the window in her EXQUISITE dress at the end. Felt a bit teary 😍 one of her best dresses ever. Absolutely loving the clothes and accessories in this series
