Just finished episode one and need to talk about it!!!

Didn't like much of the episode to be honest. But the ending! I'm floored! Was not expecting that.

Cynthia Nixon needs to realise she's an actress playing a part and just because she's gay and has a " non binary " child doesn't mean Miranda has the be .

GreenerGrass103 · 14/01/2022 13:46

For balance.... this series of Greys Anatomy has a new non-binary character called Kai who is a neuro-scientist. Their gender identity was briefly addressed in one episode months ago and has since just been part of the cast. Amelia, a long running character who until recently was a heterosexual female with a child, has found herself attracted to Kai and the storyline now has them becoming 'close'. Quite nice to watch actually!! I do buy into it with Amelia's character. It's an interesting storyline.

But absolutely nothing like the Che show. Which is ironic since Sara Ramirez used to be in GA.

The trailer for next week looks more promising

Arseanall · 14/01/2022 18:11

@AsYouWishButtercup

It’s like fan fiction written by a 20yo demisexual non-binary two spirit dullard, who only watched a few episodes of the original.
ROAR, brilliant post!
Blondeshavemorefun · 14/01/2022 20:26

Def didn’t understand the sick scene

Did they get so drunk

Or eat bad food

Peter was sick. Then Carrie

Sure she wasn’t sick as he was

Kitchen scene was a bit ewwwwww

But I do get Carrie not wanting to date. The love of her life is dead

Yes in time people do meet someone and fall in love again

I did. Always say I’m lucky that I found two wonderful men to love and be loved by

And yes Charlotte wouldn’t behave like that.

Cheesymonster · 14/01/2022 20:57

I kept thinking Peter was Mark Ruffalo

WeaversDivas · 14/01/2022 21:03

They were drunk, he was sick, so it made Carrie throw up.

The fingering in the kitchen. Nope.

I'm finding it really painful and want the last episode next week to hurry up so I can put it all to bed.

PumpkinCrumble · 14/01/2022 21:13

I’m really enjoying Seema. She’s glamorous and successful, you know the things that made SATC fun in the first place!

I have bad news for you. There are 10 episodes. We've 3 to go.

She is but she isn’t Samantha

Those four made the programme

WeaversDivas · 14/01/2022 22:43

@Wanderingowl ffs

hopeishere · 14/01/2022 22:49

Che is just so boring. And unlikeable. I'm amazed Cynthia Nixon is participating in this.

I liked the "they think we're that couple" bits. Is it going to be a menopause storyline with Charlotte?

Did she resell the white flat and move back to her old one?

Yorkshirelass04 · 14/01/2022 23:06

I felt really bad for Miranda when she was telling Che she loved them. She's being set up to get hurt isn't she? Che can't even be bothered to read her messages

EachandEveryone · 14/01/2022 23:26

I think shes back in her old flat. I wonder what SJP thinks of it all?

Purpleraspberry · 14/01/2022 23:52

I don't think I have ever been as undecided about a tv programme as this one. In one way, I am enjoying it, however at the same time, I am not liking many of the things already mentioned in this thread: Che's unfunny comedy sketches; the change in personality of many of the characters from the tv show, especially Miranda and Steve; Samantha's absence, and don't get me started about Big's masterbating scene in the first episode.

Last night's episode wasn't bad, although the vomiting scene was just awful, and Steve not washing his hands after having his hand in Miranda's pants and touching the food pots made me cringe 🤢

Purpleraspberry · 14/01/2022 23:53

*and then touching the food pots

Leaveitonthefloordrobe · 15/01/2022 08:20

Yes. Why make a point of him washing his hands before he touched her and then have him not wash his hands afterwards?? 🤮

StripeySnail · 15/01/2022 10:39

I didn't think it until a PP mentioned it but I think they're going to go down the dementia storyline with Steve - especially due to the family history. The subtle signs, in hindsight, have been there. More so this week with the misplaced wallet and confusion.

GreenClock · 15/01/2022 13:10

The dementia storyline if handled in a nuanced way would be very good. I think that both CN and DE are strong enough actors to pull it off.

The original dementia story in the last season (mother-in-law Mary) was done very well I think. S&TC did the health stories (that, infertility and breast cancer) realistically and sensitively imo whilst retaining the show’s humour and campness.

Andylion · 15/01/2022 15:50

@Leaveitonthefloordrobe

Yes. Why make a point of him washing his hands before he touched her and then have him not wash his hands afterwards?? 🤮
I think the hand washing before ruined any spontaneity Miranda might have hoped for.
GreenLunchBox · 15/01/2022 22:01

Well, I'm loving this series, so there 😛

x2boys · 16/01/2022 12:06

Steve is only in his 50,s I used to be a mental health nurse and worked in Dementia care for a while ,so I'm aware that some people can get early onset Dementia but it is rare so unless it's another educational story line?🙄

Wanderingowl · 17/01/2022 11:47

I don't think they will give Steve dementia. It would be an awful storyline. Miranda doesn't love him anymore and despite Che being an awful character and not the relationship Miranda is hoping for, she has moved on. Making her get stuck as a carer for someone she no longer loves would be a far weirder, darker route than any of the weird dark, routes this show has already gone down. And while, having listened to some of the writer's room podcasts, I know the writers are enjoying dark storylines for the characters, even if they wanted to go down that route, I can't see Cynthia Nixon agreeing to it. She will leave Steve but realise Che's wonderful poly lifestyle is too fabulous for an old lady of 55. And be set up for season 2 (if there is one) as a single lady looking for a lady, while Carrie will be a single lady looking for a man.

The possible dark turn I do see coming, is Harry getting sick as Charlotte cancelled his colonoscopy.

user1471543094 · 17/01/2022 12:16

Could they be potentially setting it up then for a 2nd series with them all single? Maybe Harry dies, Carrie already widowed and Miranda leaves Steve and her exploring the world of dating women (otherwise a CN bio)

user1471543094 · 17/01/2022 12:19

Although be cross at that - 2 of them widowed and Steve and his forgetfulness and hearing loss - again making them seem mid 80s and not mid 50s!
Obviously these things happen mid 50s in real life but for it to happen to all three would be remarkably bad luck! Especially when the supporting cast are still pretty cool
