Just finished episode one and need to talk about it!!!

Didn't like much of the episode to be honest. But the ending! I'm floored! Was not expecting that.

I am enjoying the show but it needs more humour.

I fear that Miranda is going to become one of Che's many booty calls. As Che is in the show more than the other new friends, I hoped there would be more character development by now.

Is Stanford ever going to be mentioned again?

VodselForDinner · 31/12/2021 11:21

I assume Che’s next story for her podcast will be “I fingered a married straight woman in the kitchen while our injured friend slept nearby” and that will expose Miranda to Steve, and move Carrie away from the podcast.

Wanderingowl · 31/12/2021 11:37

@NutellaEllaElla 🙄 Yes, thank you captain obvious. We're getting lectured enough in the show, don't need you too.

It's actually the exact opposite. The 'woke' movement that is ruining the show, has also been really, really fucking damaging to lesbians. Lesbian women, more than anyone, are having their boundaries really dangerously shredded. Their spaces are pretty much gone now, their dating apps often unusable, they are not allowed to gather as women. And they are not even allowed to own their own description of themselves. Describing women who are attracted to both men and women as 'lesbians' can even be dangerous for lesbians because it allows men who don't want to respect their boundaries an excuse to say that lesbians aren't even exclusively attracted to women. And while I don't for one second hold with the idea that women are responsible for the bad behaviour of men. I also very strongly believe that as women, we should help lesbian women uphold their boundaries.

They have written Stanford out because the actor died. It's tricky to write him in off screen under those circumstances.
Hels20 · 31/12/2021 17:03

I think@NynaeveSedai that @boogiewithasuitcase knows that - it is weird that Stanford just hasn’t been mentioned again at all.

I think it’s nice that Samantha keeps on getting a mention and thought the text exchange was correct and appropriate. Wonder if SJP is trying to communicate with KC?

boogiewithasuitcase · 31/12/2021 17:07

@NynaeveSedai I already knew that Willie Garson died during the filming of AJLT. That wasn't what my post was about. I was expecting a reference to Stanford when Anthony met Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte for brunch in this week's episode. It's like Stanford has been forgotten already, and I don't think that it would have been too much trouble on the part of the writers to have his character mentioned, however briefly.

boogiewithasuitcase · 31/12/2021 17:09

It is weird, isn't it? I hope he will be mentioned in a future episode.

I wondered about SJP and KC as well. Maybe we should all be on Twitter. Smile

HaroldMeeker · 31/12/2021 17:36

I started watching this with anticipation and forced myself through 3 episodes. 10 mins into ep 4, I've given up for good. What a train wreck. Empty and soulless.

Yeah I wondered that ,like she's trying to say she misses her IRL?
KillingMeDeftly · 31/12/2021 18:21

I think SJP said they wouldn't be addressing Stanford any more than they have as it's too painful to deal with.

Ah thanks. He was such a regular fixture on the show that I can see why it must have been very hard for the cast when he died.

That's what I meant really. How could you carry on his story off screen without it being really tasteless?
JMAngel1 · 01/01/2022 12:48

I think there were funny moments in this week’s episode - the peeing with Charlotte, even the peeing in the bottle with Miranda being fingered in the kitchen. If this had been in SATC it would have been as funny but somehow 20 years later, it’s seen as tragic and a bit cringe - maybe we are all being ageist?
I disagree that Miranda never dawned over her love interests in SATC - she was always a bit fishy - no change there. I agree she should throw Brady’s girlfriend out.
I love Seema too - not in it enough (her outfit in the first scene was perfection - pleated trousers, satin cami and nonchalant trench - just gorgeous! She’s definitely the Samantha substitute isn’t she.
Anthony is refreshing as is Harry - no way should a 12 year old be encouraged to “transition”. Sweet Jesus, what world are we in? Harry’s comment about ice cream had me shouting at the screen in agreement.
I am enjoying the series but it’s very different. I loved the exchange between Miranda and Carrie at the end about Che and her drinking. Carrie surprised me by not being completely selfish. Once she had ranted about the peeing she was able to switch to Miranda not being happy. Blimey, Carrie showing empathy Grin

JMAngel1 · 01/01/2022 12:48

That was fawned and gushy!!

Sallycinnamum · 01/01/2022 13:43

Empty and soulless just about sums it up @HaroldMeeker.

The writers had a brilliant opportunity to explore the ageing process in a positive light and the challenges women in their 50s face but failed at every turn.

The miranda incident in the kitchen was just horrible. Who on earth does that when they're looking after an injured friend?!

I did like Susan Sharon in episode 2 who aptly reminded us what a shit Big had been to Carrie in the past.

VodselForDinner · 01/01/2022 18:44

Interesting piece from Blind Gossip that I’m pretty sure is about AJLT

cloudjumper · 01/01/2022 19:36

I find myself cringing more with every episode, so disappointed with the series. Trying too hard and failing at every front. Don't like any of the new characters at all, they are 'ticking boxes' for various stereotypes, it's so annoying!
And I can't forgive them for what they are doing to Miranda's role/character.

GreenClock · 01/01/2022 20:06

I’m watching an old episode currently (Miranda is pregnant, Charlotte has just separated from Trey) and Susan Sharon is in it. I’d forgotten about her!

I wish the reboot were better (and minus the absurd Che) but I don’t hate it. There are still sparks of the old characters and the humour is there.

CruellaDeVilla · 02/01/2022 00:08

I’m up to date now.

Miranda would not have behaved like that in Carrie’s kitchen. It was hideous and selfish.

Charlotte would not have got to 55 and suddenly decided she needed mire black friends

The Rose storyline is annoying, Harry is sensible and I really hope they don’t let her transition and common sense prevails but I suspect Cynthia Nixon will get her way ffs

The back issue out of nowhere? Fgs!

I liked the texting with Samantha, I think Carrie would have wanted to share what happened with Miranda with her, the “I miss you” with the three dots then no reply was spot on

Hmm, timing was odd hey? They tell us at the end of ep 5 that we’re 3 months on from physio.

Che really irritates me

Love Anthony

Great comments underneath that Blind gossip article:

Sadly, Hollywood does not understand that most Americans are not woke.
Personally, I think the woke crowd are a secular version of the Puritans. They see the world in stark binary terms of woke and canceled. They have authoritarian instincts which will sacrifice everyone and everything that gets in the way of creating their utopia on earth.
Stay sexy and stay funny Kim. Oh, and stay away from that dumpster fire which is the SATC reboot.

In no way will And Just Like That die because Kim is missing. The fun of the original is it was naughty and campy. You cannot be naughty and campy and be woke.

Woke people do not have the rebellious love of transgressing boundaries and do not understand the hyperbolic and ironic humor of the original show. In general, people who are woke take themselves too seriously, have authoritarian instincts, and support a dichotomous worldview where you are their ally or their enemy.

EachandEveryone · 02/01/2022 11:41

So how does Curb your Enthusiasm get away with it? It’s so anti woke and makes fun of it all the time. Is it because it’s on HBO and that’s why? I honestly can’t see this one getting renewed? They’ve allowed Cynthia Nixon too much say I’ve never got woke agendas from the other two actors.

AnnunciataZ · 02/01/2022 13:27

Depends what you think is woke? The past season of Curb poked fun at the KKK, among other things - can't see that as being "anti-woke"!

daisiesonmydress · 02/01/2022 15:28

Everything that could go wrong with this show has.

Woke transgender pushed to the fore for Cynthia Nixon, Chris Noth accusations, Kim Cattrall missing, Stanford actor dies.

Too much off screen issues and politics and not enough on screen wit, fun or empathy for the older woman's experience.

Cannot see it being renewed.

EachandEveryone · 02/01/2022 17:47

I bet they are begging Kim to comeback
