Just finished episode one and need to talk about it!!!

Didn't like much of the episode to be honest. But the ending! I'm floored! Was not expecting that.

@Wanderingowl I tried to start a thread on Harlem but it got no responses! I really enjoyed it. It reminded me of what SATC used to be like and the leads are all very good.

I think I'll give it a go in the Christmas holidays (or oncoming lockdown ). I need to watch something entertaining. We seem to have lost our ability to be able to include good social commentary in our entertainment. Nowadays, a lot of shows are just so bloody heavy handed they become unwatchable.

Miranda and the professor meeting was totally cringe though!

Also Charlotte saying Miranda's hair was aging... curled at the funeral I thought she looked fabulous!!

The Brady and his girlfriend sex scene... I mean ffs?!! Unnecessary and just absolutely not realistic...

Carrie with her hair down looks amazing!! I really think her hair tightly tied back is such a harsh look for her though!

Also Charlotte being all ott with grief... I found that irritating!

Stanford being awful to Gloria at the funeral made me really uncomfortable!

Harry hasn't aged well!

The death was really powerful, I thought pretty realistic and SJP acted like a lot of people! In shock and not overly emotional!

Watched the third episode last night & it didn't make me cringe as much as the first. Thought Natasha looked fab, and them seeing her at the window did make me laugh

Didn't enjoy the Che stand up, and I liked the scene with Anthony.

I feel the full thing is just tinged now though with the rumours about Chris Noth. I know that's probably stupid because he's no longer in it but I do.

Harry hasn't aged well!

Funny you say that as I think he looks more or less the same as he did in SATC!

I'm going to start Harlem now, looks like a good antidote to AJLT.

I don't understand why Carrie doesn't have her own podcast, why is she guesting on someone else's? (Given how self-centred she is, if nothing else! But she also has enough of a profile in New York given her books, column, association with Vogue, etc).

Charlotte I'm struggling to cope with because she literally can't speak properly her mouth is so damaged by plastic surgery. Why is she being such a pain about Carrie's grief? That was never Charlotte. She may have been a Park Avenue Princess but she was always there for her friends; she even came to see Miranda after she thought she had had an abortion and was nothing but thrilled for her that she was keeping the baby. This is not someone who makes things all about her.

And as for Miranda - WTF is she doing. In 2021 it occurs to her that the activism she practised at the start of the Trump era wasn't enough? This didn't occur to her in the intervening four years?

None of it makes sense for three highly successful women in their (as they constantly remind us) mid-fifties. Why are they so clueless about social media when two of the three of them have teenagers in the house? Why are they so clueless about 'woke-ism', for the same reason?

Even Natasha seemed less fabulous than she should have done. I think if Samantha came to visit she'd take one look at them all, tell Miranda to stop drinking and then get the next flight back to London.

Harlem was ok. It was an easy watch. I enjoyed it.

I wonder what the cast/producers are thinking right now?

I reckon they are punching the air and declaring "yes, nailed it". Loads of people are watching AJLT, concluding with polarising opinions of how the characters are being portrayed.

Has anyone watched Harlem on Prime? I've read a couple of posts on another forum saying it's quite good and tackles some of these issues better. With the "Carrie" of the the group, Camille, being a college anthropology professor who gets cancelled due to virtue signalling. I haven't seen it though and an nervous about starting it in case it turns out that the main character needs to be reeducated in the same way I fear Anthony on AJLT will be.

I only made it to episode 4, I was disappointed. I only watched to see Whoopi Goldberg and even her character was meh....

Can we talk fashion for a second? I actually think it's incredible. Sure, some if it's mad, but then SATC outfits always were, but actually for the most part they're very true to character, fun, and flattering.

And a special mention for Lily's beautiful performance dress.

I think Miranda has more “fashion” looks in AJLT. Can’t cope with them all running round in heels though! 😂 As if Miranda would be wearing heels to University while carrying so many books she requires multiple bags…or maybe I’m just projecting?

I think the second outfit is a university one and she's got flats on. And looks awesome in them.

I've just watched episode 4 & loved it! Actually laughed in places and also cried. Plus the 2 new women are fierce - gorgeous and seem to fit right in! The tribute to Willie Carson made me cry at the very end too. So sad.

That was actually good! I feel like it's getting better with each episode.
