Just finished episode one and need to talk about it!!!

Didn't like much of the episode to be honest. But the ending! I'm floored! Was not expecting that.

I imagine the original wardrobe pieces are in storage somewhere so its quite realistic that expensive pieces would still be used 20 years later. Unless it was from the back of the van on 5th ave😀

NMC2022 · 17/12/2021 23:31

I really like the embroidered shirt dress that Carrie had on ep 3

yourestandingonmyneck · 18/12/2021 00:13

Loved seeing how happy Carrie and Big were after all of the ups and downs. Though it seemed obvious that they're planning to incorporate the bloke behind the screen-producer?-from the podcast into Carrie's love life and I sa a annoyed when it looked like they were going to get her cheating on Big.

@letstryagainnow - I must have missed this - who was this? What happened?

Wishimaywishimight · 18/12/2021 01:49

I've always wondered - is Miranda and Steve's son called Brady Brady??

They have him Miranda's surname and called him Brady Hobbs
JacquelineCarlyle · 18/12/2021 10:30

I'm really enjoying this series - all very true to the original.

Wanderingowl · 18/12/2021 12:29

@MultipleMum5

Watched ep 3- it was awful. They’ve murdered this show.

The 2nd film was dreadful and it’s the same kind of dreadful, if not worse. Dull but now full of predictable plot lines. The wokeness is beyond cringe and it’s ruined it for me. They could let Miranda be gay, I like that idea, but without lecturing the audience through a non binary stand up character Hmm.

All the things it stood for in its heyday, being different to anything else on TV... well now it’s trying to be like everything else.

I love the old series and always will. And I’ll still watch it. But it makes me feel sad that they’ve killed it. Kim Cattrall was right not to go back.

I thought that Miranda had a little chemistry with Charlotte's music school friend, Lisa Todd Wexley. Miranda held her gaze when they met at the restaurant and they bonded slightly with Miranda's purse wine. I think that she would have been a much, much better character for Miranda to have her bisexual awakening with. But only if she was single and openly lesbian/bi. They could have gotten together with Miranda helping her in some sort of legal capacity. And if Miranda's family drama was more about Brady going away to college and her ad Steve deciding to face their lack of sexual/romantic chemistry now that they aren't actively co-parenting. With Miranda's growing attraction to LTW speeding up her realisation that she does want more than ice-cream and box-sets with Steve. I would have totally gotten behind that.

For full disclosure, I have a very high sex drive and was more of a Samantha when I was younger. But ended up in a marriage that became very sexless so it can absolutely happen that a sexually confident woman can end up in a sexless marriage. I used to talk about it a lot with my XH and it was an issue in counselling but I couldn't talk to my friends about it. In fact the contrast between my naturally high sex drive and confidence about that as a single woman and ending up sexually unwanted in marriage, made it harder to talk about. I also accepted my bisexuality after our divorce and the first time I found myself attracted to a woman and allowed myself to think of it as more than a friend crush was amazing. It was like a whole new awakening and restart to life. It was like being 16 all over again. I'd very happily watch Miranda experience that. But Che is an awful obnoxious bore who I imagine would patronise Miranda like she is some sort of baby gay and think she is teaching Miranda how to be open and fluid. As we've already seen with her needing Che's cliches to go to a fucking party she was invited to.

Wishimaywishimight · 18/12/2021 12:55

@gvb8 Ah, thank you - that has bothered me for years (not consistently, just from time to time!!).

JacquelineCarlyle · 18/12/2021 13:00

Wow @Wanderingowl - thanks for sharing and hope you've found your happiness now (& lots of sex!)

I agree that Che is a bore and totally agree re your 'baby gay' and patronising comments. I'm still hopeful, however, that Miranda will come good.

GreenClock · 18/12/2021 14:15

I don’t think that Che is particularly interested in Miranda. Maybe Miranda will make a fool of herself by reading the signals wrongly, as she did with the chap she “flashed” in the original.

I hope Natasha returns. She’s a classy character, and well-acted. I’m hoping that it’ll transpire that the older of her two sons is 20 ish…

I’m also liking Charlotte’s new friend.

But sadly I think that this series is going to be the Che show. A deeply tedious character.

NutellaEllaElla · 18/12/2021 14:42

I don't know why i'm watching this, it must be the nostalgia, but I agree that the super woke vibe is embarrassingly bad. This social engineering thing is ruining so many TV shows for me. If I wanted an Aesop's fable, i'd read one. I fast forwarded through the comedy routine, couldn't believe how long it was.

Andylion · 18/12/2021 14:42

Does anyone know the name of the actor who plays him? I completely missed him in the first episode and barely saw him on the third.

Now that Big death and its immediate aftermath have been covered, I wonder if they will jump ahead time-wise and maybe cover an entire year in this season? And yes, part of that is wondering when Carrie will
have sex and with whom.

Justheretoaskaquestion91 · 18/12/2021 15:05

The comedy routine wasn’t even funny

So not funny. Heartening to hear everyone agrees!
boogiewithasuitcase · 18/12/2021 18:39

Agreed. I did like the bit though where she told a man in the audience to change his shirt.

DaggerIsle · 18/12/2021 18:57

Once again poor Natasha was forced to deal with the ever so self-obsessed Carrie Bradshaw... I bet she curses the say she met Big, who as it turned out had no reason to leave her any money (as she clearly did well and didn't need it).
Speaking of selfish, knowing how inadequate Carrie always felt about Natasha (even though she got the man) what a shitty thing to leave her a bequest without mentioned it to his current wife!

And the ultimate selfish is Carrie refusing to discuss Miranda's possible drinking problem and actively asking Charlotte to stop noticing things that might be inconvenient to her!
After Miranda being there for her the whole time.... a mini party in her backpack... what a shitty friend.

Youdoyoutoday · 18/12/2021 19:11

But Carrie had always been so selfish. In SATC Stanford and Miranda have both pulled her up on it!!

GellerYeller · 18/12/2021 19:34

So it sounds like we have a consensus here... that in years to come SATC fans will look back on the Che character with the same disdain as Star Wars hold for Jar Jar BinksGrin

Yeah I thought this was a dick move even for Carrie.

Phantom Menace came out when I was about 10... I can't get behind the Jar Jar Binks hate. Maybe more Scrappy Doo for me... An unnecessary late annoying arrival that had too much screen time.

StartupRepair · 18/12/2021 20:04

Miranda's drinking is not going to go away - unless Che tells her to stop. I give Carrie a pass on this as she is only 6 weeks into bereavement. Agree that Che is one -note boring.

DaggerIsle · 18/12/2021 21:48

Funny thing is I bet the writers are congratulating themselves on the Che character- all edgy and woke and cool.

Wanderingowl · 18/12/2021 22:46

Seeing as how her name is Cheryl, that makes her Cher Cher Binks!
GellerYeller · 18/12/2021 23:10

@Wanderingowl Grin

NutellaEllaElla · 19/12/2021 07:47

I forgot about that. I enjoyed the irony of how the character is portrayed as so achingly cool with the hair and cutting edge gender identity and the name "Che". I was thinking, ooh is that like Che Guevara? No, it's Cheryl Grin Grin Grin Carrie of old might have reflected that she can curate her image as much as she wants but underneath it all is as female mundane as the rest of us.

Wanderingowl · 19/12/2021 09:32

Even on reddit, which is practically curated to be 'woke' on all the main subs, a thread of Che hate is getting the most upvotes. I have to admit, I'm not a fan of Sara Ramirez to begin with but everything I dislike about her is dialled up to 11 on this show. I just find her whole 'cool swagger' thing really affected and inauthentic. She's like someone who is very badly playing a part in a bid to not be seen as the middle-aged woman that she is. It's just sad. There is absolutely nothing wrong with not fitting into society's mold of 'middle-aged woman' but with Ramirez, I feel more like I'm looking at her mid-life crisis. It's like coming out as a bisexual-non-binary, with The Fonz as your style icon is the modern version of buying a porsche and having an affair with your secretary.
