Just finished episode one and need to talk about it!!!

Didn't like much of the episode to be honest. But the ending! I'm floored! Was not expecting that.

I rewatched some SATC recently. The Charlotte/Trey story is so sad. Charlotte makes this desperate new year’s resolution to get married and just pursues this I’ll fated relationship in such a tunnel visioned way. Agree it’s nuts that she got the apartment in the divorce. And the divorce lawyer who got it for her now lives there too. Probably sent Bunny over the edge.

VodselForDinner · 17/12/2021 14:48

@x2boys

Does Charlotte still live in the apartment she got from Trey? She did incredibly well out of such a short marriage ?
Definitely! Sad as it was Trey’s home before they met.

Once she got engaged, she gave up work and never had to go back. I know Harry works, and seems successful, but their entire family is housed off of that one short marriage.

DaisyNGO · 17/12/2021 15:47

Charlotte must have come from a wealthy family in the first place though.

Slayduggee · 17/12/2021 16:49

Since the SATC film was out in 2008 then Rose should be 13 but since they have made Brady 2 years younger then maybe Rose is 11.

I would home that as Rose starts middle school that Charlotte decides she want to go back to work/find a new career/start a business

I actually think Charlotte had a point when she said she earned that apartment. She put up with Trey’s impotency, gave up her job, put on the perfect wife front, made a hell of a lot of effort to conceive - a decision Trey was happy with and then went back on completely out of the blue. She was the dutiful wife, it would have killed someone WASPy like her to divorce, she was 35 when she married and wasted precious child bearing years on a man who was, at best, only half interested in her and let his mum push her around.

Brady is only 17 - a bit annoying as his birth was aired in 2002 so he should be 19! I think Lily must be about the same age so yes I think Rose is maybe 13?

I never really liked Trey, so can't say I'm that worried Charlotte ended up with the apartment! Plus I think we know she had a damn good lawyer. From what I recall, she didn't actually get anything else did she?! And I'm glad she learnt the lesson that everything she thought was important (wealthy family, doctor, good manners, well connected etc.) was actually not that important at all.

Trey let her have the apartment though it wasn't technically his to give away which is why Bunny put up a fight. I think it was Trey's way of saying sorry to Charlotte for their failed marriage though she coerced him in to it.

DaisyNGO · 17/12/2021 17:51

RaPum Charlotte wanted to give up her job though, I don't remember Trey saying anything about it?

DaisyNGO · 17/12/2021 17:53

I wonder what the price was on that apartment in the year 2000.

I noticed the copy of the New Yorker on the table in the first film was one with a cover about property prices.

They cannot have been married for more than a year or so ,and that apartment must be worth a fortune in Manhatten ,it must have been twenty years ago too ,so she did do very well 🤣 Yes Lilly must be the same age or a year younger than Brady ,I remember they adopted her after Brady's first birthday and she was about six or eight months old .
DaisyNGO · 17/12/2021 18:08

I liked Trey until he bought the cardboard baby.....

BarkminsterBlue · 17/12/2021 18:19

As the article linked above points out, there isn’t a single hint of Charlotte’s former career in her apartment. She ran a fairly major gallery and there isn’t a single artwork in the whole place. They only briefly remembered that she was an expert in visual arts when they needed a plot device to introduce Aleksandr Petrovsky.

VodselForDinner · 17/12/2021 18:26

Remember before Charlotte married Trey, he sprung a prenup on her. I think her payout if there was a divorce was half a million. Charlotte then battled Bunny and said she was worth a million and they agreed on that amount.

I wonder if there were other terms such as the marriage needing to be of a certain duration?

Anyway, if she got the apartment and the million, she was well setup for a few years until she married Harry.

Yes but she did it with a view to having a long a family and a long and supportive marriage.
AutumnLeaves22 · 17/12/2021 19:08

Snapping is used mid show to agree with a statement, applause at the end.

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor thank you for the info. I've not heard of / seen snapping before. Is it the same as clicking fingers?

RaPumPumPumPum · 17/12/2021 19:56

My son has some minor sensory issues and loud clapping is a real problem for him, but I would still find snapping such an obnoxious thing to do

I think the piece above Lily's bed looks like something Charlotte might have commissioned.
StartupRepair · 17/12/2021 21:01

I doubt Charlotte will go back to work now. Financially she has proved her conservative belief that basically a man will provide.
I thought the Trey plotline was good because it showed the pain involved in steamrollering the wrong person into marriage just for the sake of it.
I thought the scene between Carrie and Natasha was very good. Che's show went on far too long. I hate seeing Miranda so slow and hopeless. It's like she's been living in a cupboard for the last 20 years.

JackieWeaversZoomAc · 17/12/2021 21:16

Gosh they are all so awful. I'm persevering but finding the whole thing cringe cringe!!!!

Agree with all of this. Miranda in the series would never go years without sex with Steve and not address it with the others. Not convincing her just sharing it with Charlotte for the first time.

JackieWeaversZoomAc · 17/12/2021 21:24

Why is Steve speaking in a dreadful obviously fake accent, and sounding like his 90.

Lottapianos · 17/12/2021 21:27

'Why is Steve speaking in a dreadful obviously fake accent, and sounding like his 90.'

He's always had that accent as far as I remember

Cheesymonster · 17/12/2021 21:59

Did anyone spot Carrie’s purple sequin Fendi baguette? Sure that was used in the original series!

Saw something online that pointed it out. Apparently the one that was stolen when she was mugged.
