Just finished episode one and need to talk about it!!!

Didn't like much of the episode to be honest. But the ending! I'm floored! Was not expecting that.

I agree the apartment looks smaller in the series than in the second film when Big bought the telly that Carrie hated in the bedroom. 'The big glass one' was 'heaven on 5th' which they sold didn't they? It was explained in the start of the second film. A film in my view, which was not their finest hour Grin

Xyzzzzz · 16/12/2021 23:50

3rd episode was funny in parts. Natasha remains graceful as ever. I think the show is trying way to hard to be woke.

DaisyNGO · 17/12/2021 00:13

Some stuff about the apartments

scenetherapy.com/big-and-carries-apartment-from-sex-and-the-city-2/

I still feel like Miranda moved without me realising. Her calling to Steve from the kitchen...doesn't seem the same kitchen as the house in Brooklyn, I think she's moved back to central NY.

The worst bit was when the crowd at the gig started snapping

DaisyNGO · 17/12/2021 00:41

I didn't know what that was about?
GreenClock · 17/12/2021 00:58

I agree about the excruciating wokeness and I too find Che a bit tedious.

Natasha lifted it, as did Gloria. Anthony and Stanford brilliant as ever.

I find Charlotte’s mouth very distracting.

I liked crazy, awkward Carrie. I also liked Miranda’s box set series addiction - I remember she was obsessed with some British series in the original so that’s true to character.

RoseRedRoseBlue · 17/12/2021 02:07

Agreed, it’s the Che show and little else. I am so disappointed.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 17/12/2021 08:23

Snapping is the new non triggering clapping. Apparently.

ReeseWitherfork · 17/12/2021 08:52

Why does clapping trigger anyone?

OP posts:
MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 17/12/2021 08:54

Less intrusive. It's not really a new thing but being used a lot now.

RaPumPumPumPum · 17/12/2021 09:04

@Pl242

I couldn’t stand all the gushing from Miranda. Completely not in character.
I suspect Cynthia is playing Cynthia. Miranda would 100% thought Che was full of shit. As if a 55yo woman needed some random ‘comedian’ to tell her that she is allowed to go to an after party. Miranda always was very good at ensuring her wants her taken care of, if she wanted to go have a drink at a bar she’d have just gone.
chiefcha · 17/12/2021 09:19

I think they're going to take Rose down the non binary rather than full on trans route. No doubt there will be several episodes where Che is inlisted as some kind of mentor.
When Rose comes out as non binary, everybody will stand around snapping.
Imagine if Charlotte were still married to Trey and Bunny was still in it...Bunny wouldn't tolerate non binary grandchildren

AutumnLeaves22 · 17/12/2021 09:28

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor

Snapping is the new non triggering clapping. Apparently.
So when watching a fantastic show, at the end of the show, should everyone give 'a round of snaps' instead of 'a round of applause'? Well wouldn't that just bring the house down

Does it work if just one persons snaps and everyone else claps? I suspect not. So does everyone have to snap? I don't want to snap. I want to clap.

What if one can't snap?

DaisyNGO · 17/12/2021 10:06

Thanks re snapping, I thought jazz hands was the non triggering clapping.

Speaking of apartments, I thought Charlotte lived in a "classic six"...which still leaves a room for each of the children so are they sharing or is that meant to be a day room for them?

ChoccyJules · 17/12/2021 10:07

Yes, Anthony was the voice of reason. Amazed it got past the otherwise gender-obsessed writers.

Loved the posh poo bag!

I always hate 95% of Carrie’s clothes so allowed myself a laugh at her lonely goatherd Heidi dress (is that the belt people are referring to?).

I too assumed one of Natasha’s children is Big’s but maybe that’s it for her part? Seemed like they wrapped it up in the cafe.

Steve was a bit less croaky but didn’t get up, so yep, old man status continued.

Che and the crowbar, far, far too long a scene.

chiefcha · 17/12/2021 12:09

A classic six has 2 bedrooms.

readwritelove · 17/12/2021 12:29

The Che scene was definitely too long. Should have made it snappier!!

readwritelove · 17/12/2021 12:37

But in general I think this episode calmed down a bit and had a nice mixture of light and shade.

DaisyNGO · 17/12/2021 12:40

@chiefcha

A classic six has 2 bedrooms.
Yes, and a dining room which could be made into a bedroom?

and in some cases, a maid's room like Alicia's apartment in the Good Wife.

Can you tell the real estate matters to me? 😂

In terms of realism, I think they would have moved to a classic eight. Then again, I also think Charlotte would have left the city but that's a whole other show....

succession · 17/12/2021 12:56

@ToughTittyWhompus

Anthony’s reaction was spot on.
I was floored by how balanced that scene was! Not woke at all!
x2boys · 17/12/2021 13:00

Does Charlotte still live in the apartment she got from Trey?
She did incredibly well out of such a short marriage ?

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 17/12/2021 13:13

Snapping is used mid show to agree with a statement, applause at the end.

BarkminsterBlue · 17/12/2021 13:38

@x2boys

I like to imagine that Charlotte's name (and probably also Trey's) is absolute mud at MacDougal family gatherings. It is absolutely ridiculous that she walked away from that marriage with that apartment.
DaisyNGO · 17/12/2021 13:45

I like to imagine that Bunny is long gone and Trey is enjoying his inheritance.
