More Corrie ‘excitement’…

OP posts:

Tracy was funny tonight. "Stop saying energy bar!"
Nice to see Daisy's sensitive side too.

Mammyloveswine · 08/12/2021 21:58

Ken was overly fixated on the energy bar... poor Daniel has had it a bit shit like bless him!

Howled at mingebag!! I love Tracey!

MaryAndGerryLivingInDerry · 08/12/2021 22:15

I love Tracey and Steve as characters but I cannot Stand their scenes together. They’re so contrived. What should have been a fantastic, witty, snort laughter inducing scene was just …. embarrassing.

Clawdy · 08/12/2021 22:16

Yes, so funny to hear the Tracy-tapes reference, a real in-joke!

eggandonion · 08/12/2021 22:27

I wonder if Tracey puts in her own words, like Jim McDonald so he did.

eddiemairswife · 08/12/2021 22:40

Fiz has lovely Pre-raphaelite hair, but not the face to match.

AbsolutelyFuckinFabulousDarlin · 08/12/2021 22:45

@eddiemairswife

Fiz has lovely Pre-raphaelite hair, but not the face to match.
I think that’s a bit mean and uncalled for
MaryAndGerryLivingInDerry · 08/12/2021 22:50

I’d love to see Fiz’s hair after a while on the curly girl method. I bet she’d get the most gorgeous glossy definition.

eddiemairswife · 08/12/2021 23:05

It's my opinion.

PaulGallico · 08/12/2021 23:16

@eddiemairswife - It might be your opinion but it is still a mean thing to say.

JemimaTab · 09/12/2021 04:52

Phil’s mum is absolutely terrible. I can barely watch for cringing.
The Daniel story is quite interesting IMO - I like the way they’ve pointed out that appearance matters when you’re a teacher, and that he did cross some lines he shouldn’t have in his professional role.

OhMyCrump · 09/12/2021 06:53

Me too Grin
Roussette · 09/12/2021 07:09

I think Fiz is beautiful, face 'n all.

Daisy has just become all sensible, it's confused me!

AbsolutelyFuckinFabulousDarlin · 09/12/2021 08:04

@eddiemairswife, it's one thing to say things about the character but let's not make horrible personal comments, it's very, very unkind and totally unnecessary whatever your opinion
Anyway back to the thread...
Daisy was really sweet last night

eggandonion · 09/12/2021 08:34

Daisy is very hard to read, she has gone from villain to potential saintly saviour of Daniel. Kelly is similar, cheerleader for stu.
We used to think Fiz was screechy, but now everyone, including Tyrone, is seeing her internal beauty shine through. Im jealous of her hair. But pre Raphaelite ladies were very thin, surely. Fiz is more on the bonny side than boney side. I don't remember Maria being her best friend.
The party looked fairly grim, Fiz must be reconsidering Phil. We seem to have forgotten Tyrone has a new wardrobe and a lot of financial embarrassment.

Gwennid · 09/12/2021 10:14

Fiz certainly scrubs up well when the need arises, so does Abi.

AbsolutelyFuckinFabulousDarlin · 09/12/2021 10:29

They've hammed Phils mum up too much and peaked too quickly
It was so OTT and well , not funny at all really
I got the feeling that even the actors couldn't believe in their lines

TellingBone · 09/12/2021 11:00

Having been one that's complained about overly heavy drug/crime storylines I'm reluctant to condemn the Phil's Mother storyline. I think it was intended as light relief after recent events.

But I agree that it was over the top, a bit try-hard, and involved a change in character for Phil; one as incongruous as that of Daisy. What I'd like to see more of is the 'everyday'; that was always the strength of Corrie. Everyday lives ARE fascinating if observed and written well. I don't think we have that calibre of writers any more [though I too did enjoy the Tracy-tapes reference].

MaryAndGerryLivingInDerry · 09/12/2021 13:10

I don't remember Maria being her best friend.

Maria is her only friend tbh! Corrie don’t seem to know how to create characters with actual relationships. They just match everyone up with one other character they sometimes have a scene with. To fill screen time.

Roussette · 09/12/2021 13:36

I wish they'd made Phil's mother more realistic as opposed to Hyacinth. They could've really got some mileage out of the story with more subtlety

Magicalwoodlands · 09/12/2021 13:38

Would the police really have been investigating Daniel given that summer is over 16?

MaryAndGerryLivingInDerry · 09/12/2021 13:43

I suppose if Paul had used the words grooming when he called the police (as he did when talking to summer) it would be something that should be investigated. She is over 16 but still in school and there is the power imbalance thing going on. She would also be considered a vulnerable child as she has lost both her parents and has a long term illness. If it were real life and the police were called about suspected grooming of a 17yo by a teacher in these circumstances I would be happier they decided to investigate than not.

ChildOfFriday · 09/12/2021 15:12

I agree @MaryAndGerryLivingInDerry. It is illegal for teachers to have inappropriate relationships with sixth formers, and there have been real life cases where teachers have been prosecuted.

eggandonion · 09/12/2021 15:14

Interesting in that children are to be believed when they say something has happened. But when Summer says nothing happened, she's not believed.
Although on Coronation Street something awful has always happened.

I suppose in this case there's evidence that makes it look like that's not the case.
