Came on to see what everyone thought of the first episode tonight but can’t find a thread. Where are my people?

OP posts:

Schmidt was over ambitious and ultimately incompetent, resulting in the death of a patient. His sudden blossoming into “resident of the year” always seemed very unlikely and he still appears to have the emotional maturity of an 8 year old.

Id much rather see more of Helm.

spiderlight · 06/01/2022 14:18

Schmidt basically decided to move to the next stage of the surgery before there was a resident present (got cocky - Helm tried to stop him and he said something like 'This is routine for me now'), damaged a vein and the patient bled out (spectacularly!) - Bailey blamed it on the Webber method and said 'This is on you' to Webber. I was watching that bit quite carefully because the patient has the same disease as me - I was like 'Yay - an ulcerative colitis story. Hope it's a nice positive one with a good outcome....aaaand he's dead on the table and everybody is ankle-deep in his blood' :/

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 06/01/2022 15:25

The Webber Method being?! Apologies for not being up to date! And thanks for the explanation!

CruellaDeVilla · 06/01/2022 16:05

Webber method is that residents get to operate on their own up until a certain point in the op and then they have to wait for an attending before proceeding. Schmidt didn’t wait.

Xyzzzzz · 06/01/2022 16:11

Webbers method isn’t much different from minnicks method a few seasons ago.

But this season as a whole is boring.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 06/01/2022 16:41

Ah yes I see now. But how is it on Webber then if he wrongly continued? Sure he's ridiculous and not a bit doctor-like!

TrashyPanda · 06/01/2022 16:53

He is Schmidt. Enough said

Would you let him cut your toe-nails?

We’ve had several new male characters: Schmidt, Nico, Riggs, Irish Doc, Maggie’s doctor man, Meredith’s doctor man, Link, Meredith’s new employer/whatever he is and Karacick are the ones that come to mind.

It would be nice to have some new female characters. Complete with actual characters (unlike Maggie, the most boring person ever) and that aren’t just box-ticking cyphers. As in Amelias soon-to-be love interest.

Because Schmidt wouldn't have been operating without an Attending in the room if Webber hadn't introduced his method.
Wandda · 06/01/2022 17:10

Sorry for butting in but where are you watch Season 18?

Now TV It’s on Sky witness too

Yes but the Webber Method wasn't go on ahead either. Very true re new characters. I'm rewatching on Disney simultaneously, now on Season 5 maybe, the man with the gun about to happen. Much more depth to the characters - Lexie, Callie etc. Rather than the revolving door of characters and partners going on now.

A lot of the new characters post season 10 just have no depth and are very one dimensional.

Schmitt never seemed like the gung ho, cocky type who would not wait for an attending. Total Alex Karev or Nico Kim move, not really n character.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 07/01/2022 21:19

Very true sheila. He'd be more likely to be worried and fret. However, I didn't manage to see it.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 07/01/2022 23:05

I'm watching the shooter episode here from series 6. Fantastic. And the friendship between Meredith and Christina is really fabulous. However Lexie 'loves' Karev... Really? Didn't find them even a bit believable. I had forgotten they were ever together tbh.

This series he has become pushy and cocky, and being singled out as the star of the group.

When is the second half back in the UK?

Justme10 · 31/01/2022 14:39

I'm sure I read it would be in February but I don't know what date.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 01/02/2022 21:11

Only me reminiscing again.. I'm on S7 now.. Meredith and the trial fix, Christina pregnant. So good.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 01/02/2022 21:17

Also, I forgot Zola had spina bifida, can't ever remember that being an issue over the years Confused

TrashyPanda · 02/02/2022 15:50

I’d totally forgotten we are only halfway through this season.

Not exactly desperate for the second half.

SheilaFentiman · 02/02/2022 21:49

HeyGirlHeyBoy - it came up once when a neurosurgeon had to work on a poorly Zola. Not sure how far you are in your rewatch so won’t spoiler!

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 11/02/2022 21:55

Ah OK, I don't remember that. Meredith was all about being a different mother than her own... But I think it is probably quite similar.. I am just before the plane crash now i think.

SheilaFentiman · 18/02/2022 10:15

Next episode is sun 27 Feb on sky witness

Justme10 · 22/02/2022 12:58
