If Carrie is no longer with Big, I don’t think I want to watch the new SATC

I don’t know for sure, but I’ve heard rumours that Carrie has a new boyfriend in the new series And Just Like That. Not sure when it’s out. I know Big vs Aidan was a contentious issue, but I was always team Big, love him.

The woke was piled on with a trowel wasnt it

GreenLunchBox · 10/12/2021 17:19

@vjg13

Oh yes, the Miranda drinking story was excessively stressed. Wonder if Peloton will sue, hardly the product placement they would want!
Their shares dropped 10% apparently! Poor things ..they supplied the bike free of charge presumably for product placement but weren't expecting it to bump off an iconic character 🙈

I don't think so, no
GreenLunchBox · 10/12/2021 17:20

@Blondeshavemorefun

Just seen e2

Actually thought well written and I’m seeing it through a point of a widow

Dh died 10yrs ago and yet the funeral scene rang a bell as someone sobbed their way through my husbands funeral

And yes I had a Friend like Charlotte - who tried to make it about her

I don’t see her anymore

The funeral. The not calling certain friends as couldn’t handle their grief

Tho I collected the ashes but still a shock

Not sure where she series can go from here but will record next Thur am

Flowers

Fair enough Greenlunchbox. I don’t expect everyone to agree but it felt like a massive box ticking exercise to me

frogswimming · 10/12/2021 17:40

@MrsJackPearson

Just watched, it was so cringe, the only good scenes were the ones with Carrie and Big (except the masturbating bit) and then the ending!

Agreed. It was so disappointing. And aren't we the target audience? Yet it seemed like they'd done everything to make middle aged women look past it and embarrassing.

IDontThinkSoNo · 10/12/2021 17:42

I thought that too frogswimming, didn’t do any of the women any favours at all at this stage of their lives and I felt a bit sad about that

WildFlowerBees · 10/12/2021 18:19

It hasn't done anything for women at all, calling Carrie cisgender for a start, it was so woke and trying so hard to be relevant.

Fadingout · 10/12/2021 18:32

I’ll admit I scrolled by some of it. Some of the scenes were really cringe. I expected to see strong, empowered women. I was disappointed. Is there more than two episodes?

whyarentiskinnyet · 10/12/2021 18:44

Tried to watch the first episode today, it was so awful I couldn't get through it. It was so contrived and just cringey to watch, Its a no from me!

DillDanding · 10/12/2021 19:10

The woke was piled on with a trowel wasnt it

Absolutely. Between the bad fillers and the woke-ism, it was very distracting.

I found the death very moving though.

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/12/2021 19:11

It’s 10 in all so another 8

CoraPirbright · 11/12/2021 23:01

Wtf has Charlotte done to her face?!! I always thought she was the prettiest of the 4 but now she looks awful!

Found Big’s death very moving but loathed the whole woke podcast crap. Talking about masturbation in public places......just grow the fuck up will you?

Calmdown14 · 11/12/2021 23:16

I wondered if all the woke and the uncomfortable podcast is because Carrie is going to end up back where she started, talking about issues that matter to women but in line with her current position. So grief and the issues faced by older women who never expected to find themselves alone.
Perhaps it will prove a surprise podcast hit to make the point that there is more of an audience for this than the inane crap to be edgy

GreenLunchBox · 11/12/2021 23:20

I hope the people moaning about it being 'woke' bugger off and don't watch any more. This isn't the feminism board. Start a thread on there, why don't you? I thought it was poking fun at the whole ten million different genders thing. Carrie looked uncomfortable with it all.

MissTrip82 · 12/12/2021 10:37

I’ve never heard anyone use the work ‘woke’ who wasn’t a clear, utter arsehole reflecting on the halcyon days when everything was just a bit more racist. You’ve always got to worry when what comes out of your mouth makes you sound like Piers Morgan.

I quite enjoyed the show although as usual Charlotte was an absolute narcissist having a breakdown over someone else’s tragedy.

furryleopard · 12/12/2021 10:44

I didn't like it.

Miranda was just awful, I can't believe Cynthia Nixon agreed to say the words. The character is supposed to be a lawyer in NYC, yet can't talk to a African American woman with braids. I thought the scene was going to be about the challenge of being an older woman in a class of kids, but no.

And Steve, he's apparently incapable of anything now he's deaf, what a great potential storyline about disability and the challenge of becoming disabled later in life. But apparently not. He needs to be dim so Miranda can have a relationship with Carrie's podcast boss.

The podcast. Oh god the podcast. This is supposed to be a woman 'who knows great sex and isn't afraid to ask' and she's been friends with Samantha for years yet can't talk about masturbation.

I had to fast forward the Big masturbation scene to be honest. How can you be with someone for 20+ years and not know if they masturbate.

I hated Stanford and Anthony as a couple the first time, still do. It was always like 'oh just put the two gay character's together, that'll do' and was Stanford always so horrible, pushing away Big's secretary like that. I didn't get the point of that at all.

And you wouldn't be friends with Charlotte after making your husband's death completely about her in that way. I'd have to stop seeing her.

Without Big and Samantha I just can't see how it can work, they were the heart of it.

Obviously I'll probably still watch.

YouGotThisKeepGoing · 12/12/2021 10:58

Someone on Reddit posted about how realistic they found Miranda to be.

The person posting was a black woman, a lawyer in her 30s who wears braids.

She said it was absolutely spot in about how certain kind of white person has been behaving recently.

Basically people she has often known for a while, who she would never have taken for a racist and who she has never got a bad vibe from, are now all tongue tied and over thinking how not to inadvertently appear racist.

I don't think arguing for women over 50 to not be presented as irrelevant blithering idiots- when they are top notch lawyers for 20+ years- should be confined to the feminism board.
ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 12/12/2021 11:22

It's just impossible to believe that Samantha wouldn't be straight on a plane when Big died, whatever else had happened between her and Carrie. I know the scriptwriters were a bit hampered by reality!

EachandEveryone · 12/12/2021 13:40

Flights have been compromised though haven’t they? So it’s possible she couldn’t get there

Unihorn · 12/12/2021 13:44

Yes the storyline is now particularly unrealistic because Samantha would definitely have returned. I always thought that way about Derek and Cristina in Grey's Anatomy, it was unrealistic for her not to have returned after he left!
IDontThinkSoNo · 12/12/2021 18:19

I agree janismoplin

vjg13 · 14/12/2021 09:56

I had a moan about how crap I found it but will definitely continue to watch! GrinMy tolerance for dire telly has obviously increased after sitting through classics like Angela Black!
