Anyone watching this new comedy crime thriller? I have high expectations, purely because I fail to believe that they would have secured Christopher Walken if it had been completely terrible..

It looks ok so far.
Christopher Walken is already stealing the show!

covetingthepreciousthings · 25/10/2021 22:05

I enjoyed it, it's a good cast, interested to see where the next 5 episodes go.

I am quite enjoying it. I saw SM on Graham Norton talking about it.

pourmeanotherglass · 25/10/2021 22:10

Enjoyed it, Ill watch again.

Wingedharpy · 25/10/2021 22:14

I'm in.

WhatTheEll · 25/10/2021 22:32

Not funny in the slightest, quite disappointed actually

PoddingtonPea21 · 25/10/2021 22:42

I'm on episode 2 on Iplayer, really enjoying it and the variety of well written characters,

MrsSiba · 26/10/2021 00:32

Very enjoyable but why only 2 episodes on iPlayer?!?

I like the way the different characters are developing and the comedy element works well. Yes farcical but a good watch.

SM was on The Last Leg talking about it.

Bobbiethemouse · 26/10/2021 01:10

Enjoyed it. I thought Richard E Grant and Claes Bang were in it? Will watch anyway it looks promising

MrsMoastyToasty · 26/10/2021 01:43

I only watched it to see if I recognised the locations used around Bristol (I'm a Bristolian).
I've also met Stephen Merchant.

the80sweregreat · 26/10/2021 06:38

Shades of Ricky Gervais at time with the writing ( I know he isn't involved, but they are friends and I bet he was consulted at times !) .

Intriguing mix and I want to know what the business man did to warrant his community service and how he will deal with his dad.
How did the walken character smuggle that paint stripper out of there ?
I remember a thread about Bristol being shut off for filming and what a pain it was !

Standrewsschool · 26/10/2021 07:49

Thought it was bitter sweet rather than a comedy, but enjoyed the cast of characters, and the storyline.

Me too, though I left 20 years ago! Still go back a few times a year to see family. I’m “that” person who shouts at the tv when they show people going from one area of the city to another within minutes - Teachers (which I adore) was terrible for this - one minute Andrew Lincoln was cycling under the Cumberland Basin and the next he was in Knowle West where the school set (my old school!) was based.

Anyway, I enjoyed it, particularly hearing the accents again. There’s a huge cast behind it, I hasn’t realised Elinor Thompson and Dolly Wells were in it too! Looking forward to hearing the backstory for each character and how they came to be doing community service.

Davros · 26/10/2021 09:23

I really enjoyed it

Ooh Claes Bang! I was wondering if he would pop up elsewhere after his Dracula appearance.

Just looked at an article and yes Claes Bang and Richard E Grant are listed and due to appear later!

I absolutely loved it, Christopher Walkens Character is really inspired by Ray Donovans dad Mickey !

the80sweregreat · 26/10/2021 13:21

The young actors are good
You can sometimes see them thinking ' I'm acting with Christopher Walken ' !!
! Must be huge for them as he is a legend.

ScienceSensibility · 26/10/2021 14:23

Loved Christopher Walken, but couldn’t stand the gang storyline with the guy’s sister. Too depressing.

Standrewsschool · 26/10/2021 16:20

@CaveMum. The film , Blinded by the Light, set in Luton had dh and I commentating how the actors managed to cross the town in 30 seconds flat.

@the80sweregreat I agree, the young actors were good in it.

@ScienceSensibility I thought the Gand drama made a light drama quite dark also.

Loved the actress at the end going loopy in her bedroom.

DuncinToffee · 26/10/2021 16:29

I really enjoyed it, it was darker than I expected but still funny.

fabulouslyglamorousferret · 26/10/2021 16:33

I bloody love it - I've always liked Stephen Merchant though, I kept expecting Gareth from The Office, or 'Keith' to pop up!

Mydogisagentleman · 26/10/2021 16:34

Loved it and will watch episode 2 later.

DaffyDaydream · 26/10/2021 16:45

I was really looking forward to it, being a Stephen Merchant fan, but apart from the odd line here and there didn’t find it funny at all. However, I will watch it again, as I’m from Bristol, although not living there now, and I like to hear the accents and see if I recognise the places.

the80sweregreat · 26/10/2021 16:54

I don't think it's meant to be laugh out loud funny . It's that odd mix of drama and a bit of humour.
