Anyone watching this new comedy crime thriller? I have high expectations, purely because I fail to believe that they would have secured Christopher Walken if it had been completely terrible..

Just watched ep 4. Some classic lines there. "They're not anal beads, Mum" along with the bit about coco pops and 70 year old genitalia Grin And then it goes straight for the heart as well.

I'm really not sure how I feel about it - it's funny, it's thrilling, it's poignant; there's peril and pranks, and some bloody good acting. I'm not sure it fits into any one box but I'm certainly enjoying it.

I'm a little bit in love with Stephen merchant.
Loved his cameos in the office ( and the writing )
(I love how his managed to get a David Brent lookie likey in there too !)

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 10/11/2021 07:43

I'd only known Stephen Marchant previously from Tooth Fairy (with The Rock)!

Loving this series. It kind of defies categorisation, doesn't it? And the cameo performances also give it a surprise boost.

Newgirls · 11/11/2021 08:53

Lady Gabby’s dad is good casting isn’t it!

i agree, it is strange as it is funny as well as serious
MrsLargeEmbodied · 12/11/2021 06:03

also loved OMD Souvenir, memories of my teenage years

GrandPrismatic · 12/11/2021 06:14

Am loving this…am on episode 3. I love the darker story line balanced by the the light comedy relief. I think it explores some quite deep themes too. I really like all the characters, despite how awkwardly annoying some of them are, it shows their vulnerabilities and makes them very human.

Niveasun · 07/06/2022 17:21

Going to binge watch I think , gripped ‘

LoopyGremlin · 08/06/2022 22:44

Just finished series 2! Really like it.

Auntiegladys · 08/06/2022 23:57

I finished this today. Entertaining funny and heartwarming. Is it weird to have a crush on the horrible gangster man? asking for a friend.

Cattenberg · 09/06/2022 00:11

Not if he’s played by Claes Bang. (fans self)

SierraSapphire · 09/06/2022 00:25

I binge watched it too. I thought the first series was funnier, the second a bit more tense. I liked the social commentary though. I read today that they filmed them both at the same time. I presume there's no series 3, although I did have some questions about the ending.

Auntiegladys · 09/06/2022 00:27

@Cattenberg so I’m not a weirdo then

LouisCatorze · 09/06/2022 10:28

I really enjoyed season two. A bit disappointed that it seems unlikely there will be a third but there again best to end on a 'high', so maybe very sensible.

I loved all the characters in their own ways.

Cattenberg · 09/06/2022 10:48

@Auntiegladys, absolutely not!

I thought Stephen Merchant was currently trying to get the funding for a third series.

the80sweregreat · 09/06/2022 11:07

It's very good, but when Frank got into his grand sons school all I could think was ' safeguarding' !

DeusInAbsentia · 09/06/2022 12:07

I loved this last season so really pleased it's back. Only had time for one yet, but the scene of him standing up in the club and getting caught in the light fitting had me hyperventilating.
