Anyone watching? I love this series and fancy Perez Grin He seems to have some extra timber on him.. I don’t like him in a suit, much prefer a fishermans knitted jumper on him..

Where were we left when the last series ended? Did he get together with someone? Someone who seemed to have shady motives? I can’t remember!

I do wonder, when I see all those threads about people wanting to move to villages and rural or coastal places, whether they have watched Doc Martin and Shetland.

Or Midsomer.

Loving it. Also loved Guilt 2. Some of the same cast, and fiendish to follow.

Series 4 was a really sad storyline. Thomas Malone (played by Stephen Walters) was such an angry man, and for good reason.
I only guessed that the woman released was linked to a previous series, namely this one, due to the sister of the murdered girl. I recognised her but couldn't find anything about her and what she had been in.

I agree with last nights about there being far too many names. I have no idea who is who currently, apart from the usual cast, but I look forward to seeing who dunnit.

@Maireas

The screaming nun is perplexing me, though.

My ed wondered if she was in love with, if not in an actual relationship with, the guy who was killed.

I didn’t hear what the screaming nun said either about not being a proper nun. Bit confused!

She said she'd done everything except "the whole married to god thing" so I guess she hasn't taken any vows but lives the same life as a nun.

I’m glad it’s back I’m originally from there and it’s good to see the island on tv !

Apparently people are now buying houses there before viewing them on the strength of seeing Shetland so it must have some pull

She’s played by Fiona Bell who used to be in Soldier Soldier

It's always on the TV! Ben Fogle has been back and that episode has just been aired too.

It's often featured at up helly aa time, it has been in programmes about food, Ben fogle has done three previous things there that I can think of. There have been two or three reality tv series based at the hospital there.

Compared to other comparable places, it gets a lot of airtime.

Could be, @longtompot.
Sounds like Sister Carolyn had a lifelong profession, as opposed to religious vows.

Big Ask:
Could / Would somebody please give us an idiot's guide to the story re the terminally ill woman and the relationship of the murdered woman's sister to Duncan/ Perez.
Also what happened to the wrongfully convicted man. Did he die in prison ?

Yes @mrsfeatherbottom I was perturbed from when Sandy followed the pick up truck from the flat of the drug addict woman. It really was stupid not saying what he was doing and where he was.

Doesn't Sandy have form for being a bit reckless sometimes?

I think it was Sandy who released the photographs.

Hi @LadyEloise1 - I think I posted for someone upthread, but basically Kate Kilmuir's sister was murdered by Donna Killick (now terminally ill) an innocent man was convicted. At one point Duncan was in the frame, all the families were linked.

That's interesting, @EmergencyHydrangea!
Also, I didn't realise that Tosh is in a relationship with Donnie.

I wonder if Carrie is involved? She lodged with Mick Muir and could have been responsible for the note sent to Eamon with his food in the chamber. Although she was his friend?

Thank you Maireas.
Why did Donna murder the girl ?
What relationship does Donna have with Duncan ?
Who is Donna's son ?
Why is the "nun" screaming ?

Sorry ! So many questions.

Did anyone else think the "nun" who answered the door to Perez was a little a whole lot strange ?

Sandy is a bit of a hothead, isn't he? He's not one of my favourite characters.

Thomas Malone served 23 years for the murder of teenager Lizzie Kilmuir. Soon after his return to Shetland, there's a copycat killing. Duncan's DNA was found on the scarf.
This turns out to be because he was having an affair with the murderer, Donna Killick.
Galbraith's defence of Donna was that she was in a coercive relationship.

@Maireas that rings a bell but I should remember more of it than I do. I have a memory of Jimmy asking Duncan if he had anything to confess to!

Yes, I think it's because his DNA was on the scarf used to kill Sally (copycat murder).

I didn't. I just thought she maybe had taken a vow of silence.

In the first episode, when the solicitor was visiting the refugee family in the shop, they filmed the shop, and the view up the street to the building with the steeple on it, near me. It’s in a village called Kilbarchan, near Paisley, so it was hilarious when he walked down the street in Kilbarchan and emerged onto the waterfront in Lerwick - that was a very brisk walk!
