OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 13/10/2021 14:43

And we all know blondes loves a recap e1

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/10/2021 14:51

@theliverpoolone

I'm finding both male actors quite wooden, so I'm not really feeling drawn in to it.

Agree that she wasn't appearing as cautious around him as you might expect if this had happened before. (Also, baby monitors for school age kids? Confused )

I still have a baby monitor for our 4.5 at school

I would hate it if she had a nightmare and was upstairs crying /screaming and dh snd I didn’t hear her as tv on etc

We have a small 3 bed semi

Would def have one in a huge house like they live in

JumpLeadsForTwo · 13/10/2021 17:48

@JaniieJones

I thought the sense of menace and foreboding was quite good. The tense music, the dead thing in the gutter etc.

You can't help but wonder how a clearly very wealthy man got together with someone who works in a rescue centre. They don't seem compatible at all even without the shocking dv.

The kids seems pleasantly oblivious to their mum's constant angst riddled facial expression, but then maybe that's what the nightmares are all about if they're internalising.

I quite like it so far.

I presumed she was a SAHM who had a bit of a job/ volunteering in a rescue centre?
Lightisnotwhite · 13/10/2021 20:27

I agree with;
stupidly big house for a couple where one is a SAHM and the other is home a lot and doesn’t appear to work very hard ( or even have a job)
wooden acting
odd detective plot one
Not very convincing DA/DV. She left before and but he’s knocking teeth out now and she seems very unbothered. Not scared or confused. Not convincingly worried about the kids
6 weeks is too long.

I thought the husband was having an affair with the school mum friend that takes the kids.
Detective is something else.

Probably win’t have the patience for it if week 2 isn't better.

RevolvingPivot · 13/10/2021 21:34

One minute she packs her bags to leave then next she's asking him to pour her a wine in the posh glasses. Obviously he would cotton on what she's trying to do. I reckon he has hidden cameras about the house.

MissMarpleRocks · 15/10/2021 16:14

@FuzzyPuffling 💐💐 I’m glad you got away.

shrugshrug · 15/10/2021 18:42

I thought the smell of petrol on his clothes was because he bought petrol in a can - will he try and burn the house down with her in it or murder her and burn the body.

Is that the charred remains of a fox - a trial run ?

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/10/2021 20:08

Still can’t work out if Ed if helping her or hindering /stirring

charliebear78 · 15/10/2021 20:29

I watched this last night.
I love the house and her outfits.
Not keen on Ed.
Surprised the Husband was the elder brother in the Haunting of Hill House.

timetochangeagainforever · 15/10/2021 21:53

Another huge gouge house, massive kitchen and seemingly no dishwasher. Oh they do like to have a tense washing up in these dramas.
Otherwise I'm liking it but don't like the waiting game so may wait until the next few are uploaded so I can binge. Eager to learn more about the PI and backstory.

purpleme12 · 15/10/2021 22:17

@the80sweregreat

She was told not to take the dogs muzzle off before , but she did it again? Why ?
I think she saw herself in the dog The dog was muzzled and wanted to be free Like her really

Yes I thought he just have got petrol for some awful reason like that
oakleydo · 16/10/2021 07:17

I think the petrol thing is an excuse she used to steal his clothes. She was training the dog to attack him

Honeyroar · 16/10/2021 07:19

Am I the only person that doesn’t think the house is lovely? Too modern and ugly for me!

oakleydo · 16/10/2021 07:19

There will be more
Flash backs

SueSaid · 16/10/2021 11:58

It is ugly yes. If you could afford a big house you'd choose one with a bit of style and character not one that looks like a prefab or an office block.

I know it's only a drama but I presume someone lives it in irl.

vjg13 · 16/10/2021 16:23

It was weak, will try episode 2 and see if my patience holds out with it.

RevolvingPivot · 16/10/2021 17:57

Is that Joanne Froggats actual accent? I think on Downton she sounds more natural but in everything else she sounds fake. She sounds as though she's auditioning and you can tell she's acting if that makes sense.

Also how cheesy was the opening line about hippopotamuses?

excelledyourself · 16/10/2021 22:37

placemarking

secretbookcase · 16/10/2021 22:48

@AnyFucker

I switched off half way through

Way too many cliches and the “private detective” was an unbelievable addition

If you want a more intelligent, nuanced and better acted depiction of domestic violence and the effects on a family watch “Maid” on Netflix. Far superior to these crappy ITV offerings.

Totally agree. Maid gets right everything this gets wrong.
excelledyourself · 16/10/2021 22:58

I'm curious about what happened in Edgewater.

Started Maid last night. Going to watch it now.

Seems I’m the only looking looking forward to e2 tonight

I’m at work so will watch it tomorrow and avoid thread from 9

shrugshrug · 17/10/2021 13:37

I'll continue to watch too Blondes.

Werehamster · 17/10/2021 13:44

I'll continue watching too but I think a PP hit the nail on the head when they said it was full of cliches. Obviously written by someone who has never experienced abuse, unlike the Maid.
