Anyone going to be watching?

OP posts:
MajesticWhine · 14/11/2021 23:33

I guess the missing woman was used as part of the setup to make Angela look unhinged. She was missing but maybe Olivier had nothing to do with it.

JacquelineCarlyle · 14/11/2021 23:59

I enjoyed it Grin

LettertoHermoine · 15/11/2021 00:52

Shiiiiiiiiiiiite.

Italiangreyhound · 15/11/2021 01:38

Dissaponting. Slow, too long.

"What about the dead girlfriend? Have I missed the conclusion on that?"

I think there was no evidence she was dead or Oliveir's girlfriend. She was just a woman who went missing from his office. And, crucially the book had a .issuing woman at the start

I don't think they explained it.

Italiangreyhound · 15/11/2021 01:43

PeskyRooks

"If she was going to call the police and say he'd beaten her up then why did she not just call the police when he really did beat her up in the first place."

So true!

Romeiswheretheheartis · 15/11/2021 02:14

If she was pretending to be having an affair with Theo at the showroom, why was she wearing a baseball cap with her hair tied up ? Confused

MakeMineAdoubleChocolate · 15/11/2021 06:15

I don't believe this. I cancelled my recording for Angela black. I was looking forward to watching that when the kids went to school.

Because she needed Olivier to go there thinking she was a psycho to lull him into a false sense of security for them to be able to do what they needed to do.
butterpuffed · 15/11/2021 07:53

What was the point of her taking the lead off the dangerous dog twice in the first episode ?
What was the point of the dead fox outside her house ?
What was the point of constantly mentioning the woman at the office who died ?

And even more to the point, who would randomly go up to a piano in a shopping centre and start playing it ?

This whole drama was bonkers Grin Grin Grin

It is worth a watch on catch-up if you can but basically she twisted things in her favour and set Olivier up by bribing Theo and then, in the process set Theo up. We don’t actually know what happened to Theo, only that someone was knocking on his door while she was talking to him. Basically saying how does it feel now Theo.
LittleMysSister · 15/11/2021 08:44

The whole thing was a bit unbelievable.

Obviously Theo would have CCTV in that showroom, and if it was switched off by him the police clearly would have looked into why. Also surely they would have twigged that Theo matches the exact description Angela gave of Ed?? Not to mention the very precise drawing!

Olivier would have deleted the CCTV of him attacking Angela in front of the house.

How would Angela possibly have been able to contact the person Theo lied about in court in order for them to go round at the end?

Re the piano - she was a pianist in her former job, I think the implication is that Olivier made her give up that glamorous lifestyle by lying about her work friend (the one she was staying with) coming onto him, and that's how she ended up in the much less glamorous dogs home job.

Guacamole001 · 15/11/2021 09:45

Nice waste of 6 hours ....!

I've been to a few places that have a piano thats for anyone to play, eg Glasgow Central station
RJnomore1 · 15/11/2021 10:41

I thought it was quite clever. She might not have contacted the guy Theo testified against but he will never be sure and always looking over his shoulder...someone at the door could have been a coincidence.

SueSaid · 15/11/2021 11:31

It was alright I suppose, I kept watching so something was vaguely compelling.

Just why arrange a meet up at the showroom when as everyone else has said there'd have been cctv and alarms. Also wtf kind of camp site was that?! Jf's face seems strangely unmovable even when she's crying and shouting.

Was the weird campsite scene a flashback, I was confused at that point.

Still not as bad as the Jill Halfpenny in the tassly checked coat drama..

ChequerBoard · 15/11/2021 11:47

It was a weirdly badly plotted and paced drama. The editing really didn't help - it felt disjointed and plot lines didn't come together as a result. It made me wonder if hits were changed during filming, can't imagine anyone would have signed off a plot that woolly but then again this is ITV drama.

Also very weird they way they all called her breakdown/ post natal psychosis 'Edgewater' which was the name of the leisure centre where the incident happened. Who does that?

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/11/2021 13:01

Finally seen. Avoided thread till now

I liked the ending as in she got her revenge. He’s in prison She has her boys

And that I was right about her baiting Oliver by front door to catch on cctv

But seemed complicated ending

Theo has done this a few times. To people

So for money

He can be brought. Hence the rings she gave him

Tho agree the police didn’t recognise Theo in the discription she gave them. Plus the pic

And the missing girl. I got the impression that was Oliver. He hinted as much at the caravan park when she asked him

Mooloolabababy · 15/11/2021 13:40

Ah another crappy ITV ending, rushed, convenient and too many loop holes. They need to start poaching some BBC story writers!

KaptainKaveman · 15/11/2021 14:13

Yes, very poor. The best actor in the whole thing was the dog.

Yes!!! I rarely watch ITV dramas because most of them are total stinkers Just finished this and last week Hollington Drive what a waste of time they both were

KaptainKaveman · 15/11/2021 15:05

Oh yeah, Hollington Drive was a joke. I wish I had watched paint dry instead.

LittleMysSister · 15/11/2021 15:15

Hollington Drive was one of the worst and weirdest things I've ever watched. Very strange and so many loose ends.

KaptainKaveman · 15/11/2021 15:19

Joanne Froggatt always seems to play the same role - decent, caring woman who suffers eternally at the hands of bastard men. She played the same role in Cheat and also in Downton Abbey except as a servant in a pinny. The clothes were the only real difference. Lots of whining, martyrdom and abuse. Why can't she do summat different? [rolls eyes]
