Who is your favourite characters in Succession. I thought this was one of the best shows I have seen in ages, can't wait for new season which will be out soon. Lots of great characters in it. Greg, Tom, Roman. Love to hear your take on it..

Hi, no - I was making a few generic points (after the book content) that he's not ideal grandad material. Ken did accuse him of behaving like the food was poisoned but he shrugged it off. I wish I has been this invested when I was doing English Literature...
Ah, I see. I know, I apply a lot of analytical thinking to Succession that I didn't to my own English degree! Grin

I’m loving the theories as much as a Line of Duty thread 😁 But do we really know what happened after this meeting or what was agreed? 😉

I'm just catching up on the thread after ep 9 but the comment on thr Mog book has intrigued me. As I saw it, Logan asked Kerry to get a book with 'some action' and I assumed Logan disliked the book because nothing happened. He's only really 'alive' when he's doing something - as in the final scenes. It's why Logan couldn't give up the business to Kendall at the beginning and, if the deal does happen, I wonder what he will do.

MarshaBradyo · 19/12/2021 00:30

Any views on second timers?

I’m finding it just as good. Some lines are pure poetry this time

Ha! Me too. My dd has never read and for a long time it was a source of tension and - I dunno, sadness? for me. But she is so into TV and films, in a really non-geeky, sheer enjoyment with a bit of lit crit thrown in way. She LOVES it, as I loved novels when I was her age. And I've finally relaxed my twattishness about Liderachoor and seen that TV is - not where literature has fled to, but maybe a direction in which its evolved.

I don't read very much at all now, oddly. Couldn't find the time when the children were very small and somehow lost the urge.

WinterDeWinter · 19/12/2021 00:53

BTW did anyone see Landscapers?

JustJustWhy · 19/12/2021 07:56

I think Britain would be most justified in taking Shakespeare off the curriculum and replacing it with the multi-layered Succession (and I think we'd all get an A*!)

@WinterdeWinter - yes. I enjoyed it.

OrtolanVeil · 19/12/2021 10:48

I watched Landscapers, it was great I thought.
Is there anything else worth watching on Sky/Now TV, as I'm paying for another month to re-watch s3 Succession!?

WinterDeWinter · 19/12/2021 15:27

Have you seen White Lotus @OrtolanVeil? i really loved it.

There's a list of all their dramas here which has a few things I didn't know about or missed the first time around.

American Rust was a bit patchy but nevertheless worth a watch. I love Suzie was unexpectedly good in a lighter way. Mare of Easttown was astonishingly good.

LiterallyKnowsBest · 19/12/2021 15:41

Thanks for that list, WinterDeWinter - still plenty left to fill the Succession gap!

OrtolanVeil · 19/12/2021 18:46

I did watch White Lotus! It was enjoyable at the time but I've forgotten about it already...

Thanks so much for that list! The Lenny James one and Mare will definitely get a watch, and I missed The Night Of first time round.
The Third Day is tempting - I have affection for "high concept " - but maybe not the necessary time!

OrtolanVeil · 20/12/2021 10:45

Well now I'm hooked on Mare of Easttown!

Roundlampshade · 20/12/2021 13:48

Must follow her on Twitter.

Ooh really looking forward to checking out some of that list @WinterDeWinter

I've yet to finish my second watch of the season finale buy started The Girl Before on BBC1 last night and looking forward to the new Harlen Coben on Netflix on NYE.

LoganRoy · 20/12/2021 20:24

That was meant to say “when you watch too much Succession”.

TiddleTaddleTat · 20/12/2021 20:42

Hooked on Mare of Eastown too - thanks for the recommendation !

WinterDeWinter · 20/12/2021 20:49

@LoganRoy haha that is very good!

WinterDeWinter · 20/12/2021 22:31

Has anyone seen Patrick Melrose, Save Me, or The Night Of?

IntermittentParps · 21/12/2021 10:52

@WinterDeWinter

Has anyone seen Patrick Melrose, Save Me, or The Night Of?
Seen Patrick Melrose, yes. It’s an astringent watch and has fairly unsympathetic characters, but I really liked it. Excellent acting and sense of period, and it’s so clear his early life was so appalling so there is a lot of pathos.
WinterDeWinter · 21/12/2021 21:26

'astringent watch' ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

IntermittentParps · 21/12/2021 22:11

You’ll love it Grin

LoganRoy · 21/12/2021 22:18

I also enjoyed Patrick Melrose, Save Me and Landscapers. The director of Landscapers also made Flowers and was in Giri/Haji, both of which I’d recommend if you haven’t seen them. I’m going to look up The night of and White Lotus thank you.

MargotMoon · 22/12/2021 02:02

I loved Save Me but it's quite harrowing

IntermittentParps · 22/12/2021 18:10

Oh yes, Giri/Haji is a work of genius IMO.
