Anyone watching? Bench Seat Man has gone!

Have they moved instead?

Halsall · 20/10/2021 20:57

Ha! Well, that's a curve-ball!

With that budget and the stamp duty holiday it sounds like the best decision.

EsmaCannonball · 20/10/2021 20:58

Ah, I was watching the time ticking away and thought something like this might happen. How boring. Why bother showing this episode? Why not film another? This was my favourite design of the whole series and we didn't get to see it.

notacooldad · 20/10/2021 20:59

I missed where they are from. I thought it was Stockport but I'm not sure.

Nannewnannew · 20/10/2021 20:59

Wow! I wasn’t expecting that! And obviously Will wasn’t either.

PanicBuyingSprouts · 20/10/2021 21:00

Yes Stockport.

EsmaCannonball · 20/10/2021 21:00

That was not good television.

Oddbutnotodd · 20/10/2021 21:03

Thankfully I flipped between Location location location and this. Was a waste of time. Design looked interesting. Obviously they must have realised they’d still be in a semi and spent maybe £150k + on it.

Maireas · 20/10/2021 21:14

It was a very ugly house, wasn't it?

icelolly99 · 20/10/2021 21:34

Disappointed 😞

Maireas · 20/10/2021 21:48

That Rothschild place was amazing.

Maireas · 20/10/2021 22:46

I wonder if the new owners will take on board any of the architects' ideas?

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 20/10/2021 22:51

Oh. Such a shame we didn’t get to see it finished in the end.

Firstworddinosaur · 20/10/2021 23:43

Why bother showing this? The finished transformation is the whole point. I feel let down. They should have renamed this Your Home Made Exactly The Same.

shrugshrug · 21/10/2021 08:45

I would have liked to have seen what they bought.

Halsall · 21/10/2021 09:29

When the middle section with Angela-going-somewhere-else-and-rabbiting-on-endlessly seemed to be taking aeons, DH and I thought something was a bit odd. Then they had the Rothschild insert as well. Clearly no time by then for any final reveal.

Didn't they say the place they'd bought needed 'everything doing to it'? So they were ending up in a similar situation re scarcity of builders and supplies anyway...

😂😂😂
bendmeoverbackwards · 21/10/2021 09:43

Yes I thought that @Halsall too much filler, went ok for ages!

I also would have liked to see their new house.

senua · 21/10/2021 10:20

Ha! You can't please MN.
Everybody said that last week's couple were crazy throwing that much money at the house, why didn't they put the money in a new place? This week's couple did exactly that - and still get criticised. I cheered when they made such a sensible decision.

I didn't like Will's design, double-height things waste so much space. He commented that the current sitting room was a corridor but I think his 'room' between the extension and the kitchen was a dead-space corridor. too.
Lizzie's design was a bit boring but much more practical eg a study where you could close the doors to have private telephone/zoom calls. Also, the couple said they loved their garden and her design connected with it - Will totally shut off from it.

longtompot · 21/10/2021 11:24

@Maireas

I wondered that too. I hope so. I did prefer Wills plan, but loved how Lizzies connected to the garden and the covered seating area. I just didn't like how small her separate areas felt, especially as they wanted to be able to hold large family gatherings.
artquejtion · 21/10/2021 12:10

What a letdown ! Confused, they really had to pad out that episode.

I much preferred Wills design over Lizzies,

The Rotschild pavilion was fab.

senua · 21/10/2021 12:13

especially as they wanted to be able to hold large family gatherings.
Why do people on these programmes always want to design their living space for other people to party in?

bendmeoverbackwards · 21/10/2021 13:13

Yes Will's design was by far the better one. Lizzie's one had a very narrow kitchen, how would that have worked with extended family wanting to cook??

@senua the whole point of this programme is on remodelling an existing house, it's not Love it or List it!

The architects really need to stick to the owners' budgets. Otherwise what's the point if they can't afford to do the work? It's just a waste of everyone's time.

notacooldad · 21/10/2021 13:15

I think the couple made the right decision for them to move. I absolutely loved Will's design though.
