Anyone watching? Bench Seat Man has gone!

Per metre???? Wow!! That really is printing money.

Is it one of those things, where you're told about an obscenely priced item so it's easier to sell you another overpriced item, that is so much cheaper it feels like a bargain, but if you actually looked in b&q it would have been half as much again.

OwBist · 16/06/2021 12:36

I think it was about tuppence ha'penny without the bespoke printing, but they glossed over that bit! Smile

Puffalicious · 16/06/2021 17:21

Just caught up and watched it. Been laughing at all your comments on beach guyGrin. His design was truly shit and would have cost the Earth moving the plumbing (DH is a plumber and was aghast! We're presently planning a small extension and when I keep harping on about moving some things he's like 'No.No.No.Just no. If you want any windows at all you we can't move the drainage and services. He's Mr Practical and treading on my dreams, I tell you!).

However, I disagree that they'll regret not closing in the snug. We have 3 DC, including 2 very large teen boys, and I like the fact we have a dining area with open plan corner sofa and TV. We congregate a lot. I couldn't survive without a separate front lounge, mind you (It has my new sofa and lovely things in) and my bolt hole, little atrium in the garden.

WouldBeGood · 16/06/2021 20:02

They really wrecked Laura’s great design.

deplorabelle · 16/06/2021 21:31

Laura's glass ceiling would be like sitting under a tap 300 days of the year in Belfast. It would make a hell of a racket in the rain, be freezing all winter and really hot under summer sun. Velux is bad enough.

Also, for a programme that goes on and on about the dark as though electric light has never been invented, they never acknowledge in the winter it gets dark at 4pm and with no ceiling to bounce light off, the kitchen diner is going to be hard to light well, and the whole garden will be bathed in light pollution.

RubyFowler · 17/06/2021 09:48

After hearing Laura mention she's welsh, I looked her up and discovered she's from a town very close to the town I grew up in in North Wales.
So now she's even more my favourite!

RubyFowler · 17/06/2021 09:49

Shes roughly my age too, so who knows we may have rubbed shoulders in the local discotheques 😆

MsRinky · 17/06/2021 11:19

@deplorabelle that's such a good point about the light pollution issue from glazed roofing.

I quite liked the ludicrously expensive cork wallpaper though. I am looking into getting cork floors - eco, warm, sound absorbing.

PandoraRocks · 17/06/2021 23:43

Why is Syd Little now working as an architect? 🤣

TheSpottedZebra · 17/06/2021 23:43

YES! I thought he looked familiar! Grin

woodhill · 18/06/2021 16:53

@PandoraRocks

Why is Syd Little now working as an architect? 🤣
😅 love his Oxford bag trousers
jay55 · 22/06/2021 20:01

Anyone else ignoring the sport in favour of finding out if there is bench seating and if the budget is doubled or tripled?

woodhill · 22/06/2021 20:08

Glad Robert is back, rather than Sid Little😊

jay55 · 22/06/2021 20:11

Ah it's a repeat. Disappointing

catfunk · 22/06/2021 20:11

Is this an old one?

catfunk · 22/06/2021 20:13

The first thing I noticed is Angela's hair looked less groomed than usual so I think it's an old one from before they got a bigger budget

jay55 · 22/06/2021 20:15

I think it's the very first one.

Halsall · 22/06/2021 20:21

Yes, it's a repeat...I'm watching Bake-Off the Professionals, couldn't cope with bench seating tonight!

OP posts:
catfunk · 22/06/2021 20:26

You're right it is the first one! Weird I've never seen it I thought I saw them all....

unfortunateevents · 22/06/2021 20:34

And indeed there IS bench seating!

catfunk · 22/06/2021 20:42

And a bed with no privacy in front of a massive bare window 😂 perfect for the grandparents obvs

TurquoiseBaubles · 22/06/2021 21:29

I had to turn it off early, what was the eventual spend? I presume more than £55,000, presuming the flooring/windows/bespoke bed must have taken up at least half of that.

hennybeans · 22/06/2021 22:44

I think the final spend was £70k they said.

I think this design was ok, I quite liked all the views from the windows. And the extension angled off the side rather than the back.

Of course having the bed in front of huge windows with no curtains is ridiculous. I'm sure they added curtains once the programme was over. How could they not?

EastWestWhosBest · 23/06/2021 20:35

Oh ffs. I saw it on the listings last night and assumed there was a new episode. I settled down to watch and nothing!

WouldBeGood · 23/06/2021 20:35

I liked it this week.
