I’m thinking maybe he laughed at her. The brother then killed him

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 01/06/2021 07:53

They're saying murder but do we know what the cause of death is?

I'm pretty sure they said asphyxiation?

Buggerthebotox · 01/06/2021 08:01

Thanks @rocking.

butterpuffed · 01/06/2021 14:22

My brain went into overdrive and I thought perhaps that the brother was the father of the baby and Jack was ring used as a scapegoat, with the CCTV providing convenient evidence of a possible relationship

I wondered that too as he looked terrified when he realised his sister was about to reveal who the father was.

Beancounterzz · 01/06/2021 21:57

Ah wow that was bloody brilliant! Nancy! What a woman, not afraid to admit I’m crying here.

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/06/2021 22:00

Ok here we go. 9pm

Last episode

He's not a nice man. I'm def thinking the brother killed him

Oh maybe not. It was her as he's walking in the woods

Yes def was Tamsin. Wow

So will max now cover it up ?

Not sure how this will end

Will Anna take the blame ?

Will Tamsin confess

Oh seems Nancy took the blame

Wonder why

Maybe something to do with the £5k she blackmailed them ?

Or what friends do

And the necklace ......

Louie took the brewery over

Not sure I liked that ending

So Tamsin gets away Scott free

I liked the ending. Unsettling. Didn't expect it. So Nance confessed even though innocent, and Tam guilty but off the hook.

I wonder if Tam will have the baby now? Still not convinced it's Jack's mind...my money's still on the brother. They're rather close, those two.

Has Louie washed her trousers in honour of her new status? And will Anna ever blink?

Nance looked positively beatific at the end. Maybe martyrdom is her way of atoning for what she did?

woodhill · 01/06/2021 22:14

Anna's wide eyed rabbit in headlights style of acting

butterpuffed · 01/06/2021 22:31

Her eyes are scary ! Good ending though, glad I stuck with it.

Yeah I was the same with the ending. I'm not sure Tamsin should have got away with it. She did murder someone. Plus she could have made up it was in self defence, or that she was scared of him as he was pushing her to get an abortion.
MrsFin · 01/06/2021 23:18

I think Nance killed him when she went back for a wee.
I don't know why Tamsin said she did, but I'm convinced Nance done it.

But we saw Tamsin do it and she had his phone?
MrsFin · 01/06/2021 23:50

Did we? I must have missed that bit.
Damn.

Sandra15 · 02/06/2021 00:54

I'd have killed him too. Pure evil psycho.

AngryMuppet · 02/06/2021 03:13

Hmmm. Interesting ending but I feel mixed about it and not in a fun dramatic intended way. In theory I totally got Tamsin's motivations and hell I've spent the last 3 weeks saying "well whoever killed him probably did the world a favour."

But idk, something about it didn't quite land for me. Maybe it was the way she seemed to communicate more stroppiness than vulnerability all the way through? (Acting or writing I wonder?) Or the zero blame she got from literally anybody? Like I hope I would feel like Anna or Nancy in that situation but I was a bit.......nobody's even going to be annoyed?! Also wasn't sure about everyone talking about how vulnerable she was, she's a policeman's daughter ffs.

Def surprised to be saying/writing that because I thought for sure I would be on team "good for her" (in the fictional realm of course Grin)

SophieB100 · 02/06/2021 06:01

I enjoyed it. (But I'm easily pleased).
I think personally that I'd have loved it if I had more empathy with Tamsin and Anna. I didn't like either - especially the mum, in fact, she got on my nerves early on.
So Nancy has carried the can, so that Tamsin can have her baby outside prison. She (currently) is happy to languish in jail rather than live in the real world where she has to split from Ade and face up to the future. And guilt played a huge part too.

There's the makings of a second series here - what happens when Tamsin's conscience gets the better of her - Max's career - the brewery, Nancy becomes resentful...

Hopefully they'll make another series!!

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/06/2021 06:17

Agree another series would be good

She is carrying louies niece or nephew And tech the brewer and assets could be the kids

Just can’t imagine Nancy even as godmother taking the
Blame

IcedPurple · 02/06/2021 08:01

Here to say I predicted that Nancy would 'take one for the team' and I never normally get these things right!

The ending was good, and I did like the fact that it was so very unglamorous and the main characters were mostly middle aged women in a crap job. Thought it was too long though, as is often the case with TV series these days. 4 episodes would have sufficed.

butterpuffed · 02/06/2021 08:05

I'm not sure why I said it was a 'good' ending, I should have said interesting !

It's possibly been set up for a new series. Obviously families are close but it stretches the imagination a bit to think that Tamsin's mother, father and brother would cover for her and let Nancy go to prison, even though she was willing to. After all, Tamsin's a murderer !

SophieB100 · 02/06/2021 08:34

If I was writing the next series Wink as if that would ever happen ever,
I would start it off with Max being promoted, baby now toddling around, Anna enjoying her supervising job at the brewery which is doing really well under the management of her who was in Keeping Faith, and the nice gay lady and her partner moving in together and all seems bliss. For about 20 minutes.

Then, Nancy, after much soul searching after a couple of years in prison, decides to confess.
Max looses his job.
Smug screechy wide eyed Anna suddenly has to deal with: her husband's job loss, possible investigation, her own part to play in it all, and of course the fact that they've all covered for the murderer. The brewery lot are arrested - boom!

It could all unravel quite well from my first episode Grin

Sandra15 · 02/06/2021 08:34

I've not checked out who wrote this but at the end of the third episode when Anna discovered Nancy was the blackmailer I thought it had all gone a bit Kay Mellor.

MrsDoctorDear · 02/06/2021 09:03

@Sandra15

I've not checked out who wrote this but at the end of the third episode when Anna discovered Nancy was the blackmailer I thought it had all gone a bit Kay Mellor.
The writer/creator was the guy who wrote Wentworth, the female prison series.

I hope there is a second series so we can see Tamsin have some sort of punishment.

VictoriaLudorum · 02/06/2021 09:25

I watched the whole series "live".
Thought it started slowly and the 4 main characters were rather "cameo-like".
Picked up a bit in episodes 3, 4 and 5.
Thought the ending was rather "flat" and unbelievable. In fact the whole thing, unless you suspended disbelief, was synthetic.
As for the Anna character, clearly she had been suffering from depression/low self-esteem since moving to Wales and having her children. Towards the end, the wide-eyed staring was overdone.
I must admit that I thought Nancy's husband would have been more heavily involved, filled investments, gambling, redundancy.
Bit of a formulaic box-ticker, too:
UK region = tick
Black senior police officer = tick
Lesbian = tick
Implied child abuse = tick
Dysfunctional men, families etc. = tick
And who did pull the trousers up?

SophieB100 · 02/06/2021 09:36

Perhaps Nancy pulled his trousers up when she went to pee in the woods - because she wanted him to look respectable - sort of fits in with her "doing outrageous things, but ultimately being a bit prim and proper with it" persona.

Buggerthebotox · 02/06/2021 10:13

The trousers thing was odd. I agree that it must've been Nancy who pulled them up when she went to take a pee. Can't think of another explanation.

I think the ending is better the more you think about it.

Nancy and sleaze bag vicar not walking off into sunset together.
Tamsin literally getting away with murder, and enabled by smug Anna and her dodgy copper husband.
Nancy looking saintly at the end. Will she/won't she fess up? Will anyone?
