I watched 7 last night. God that was a hard watch. I'm reading another forum on reddit and all anyone over there is talking about is the scene with June and Luke and that she raped him. What do people think about that scene? I found it very hard to watch.
I agree. Technically I don't think it's rape (I think the legal definition is to penetrate a person without their consent?) but it was most certainly sexual assault. He didn't consent.
I was very disturbed by it and I'm surprised that more people haven't said the same on this thread.
I think the whole episode was about June's understandable inability to engage with normality - and specifically with Luke - after the trauma she's been through. In the scenes with Serena and Luke I was shocked as I think they showed that she is full of hate. I could understand why she felt that way towards Serena but I also felt that it wasn't consistent with previous seasons/episodes when their relationship was a bit more complex. Serena did hand over Nichole, June named her Nichole instead of Holly, and I think June acknowledged that Serena was a victim as well as an abuser. Where is the nuance now? Is it all out of the window now that Serena is pregnant? I guess it will be too painful if Serena can "enjoy" her pregnancy and newborn when she stole June's.
I think it was very interesting that June's rage towards Serena pushed her right back to Fred. Until then she had rejected him completely. Not actually a smart move on June's part.
I would like Nick to rescue Hannah. And I think June will end up with him.
I did feel for Luke though. He's missed her so much and been so desperate to have her back. But I think the June he knew and loved is gone.
Tbh I haven't liked June for a long time now - the way she treated everyone - but that episode make it crystal clear to me that the trauma has made her brutal.
