@Footloosefancyfree

Thank you so much for this! Managed to watch the first episode before the site became full it definitely didn't disappoint!

Even after 1 episode I think June has lost it and wouldn't be able to cope outside of Gilead! She's amazing though can't wait to see more!

ConnieDobbs · 02/05/2021 23:37

I've watched all 3 episodes now. I'm enjoying it but there are some daft plot holes imo. Why did the other handmaids stay hiding in the barn when they knew June had been captured and knew where they were?

I've read the Testaments which gives some clues about how the story will end but I don't know if the show will stay true to the book. Particularly aunt Lydia's character does not seem to fit with the book version.

BG2015 · 05/05/2021 18:46

Watched the fourth episode!

Loved Rita graciously sticking her finger up at Serena!

"I wasn't cruel to you" - Fred😡 like that makes everything ok!

They're deluded! The pair of them!

Interesting that June & Janine are closer to being free now more than ever. Looking forward to what comes next.

Are they closer to being free though? No fake ceremony or handpicked bits of bible but it still came down to them only being there for what a man wanted. It broke June. I felt sick for her.

I'm glad Rita did that though.

Maybe they aren't closer to freedom - it's just a different kind of slavery!

Loved the shot of Rita taking pleasure in eating what she wants with the sun streaming in whilst Serena sat in shadows with dark clouds full of snow - great cinematography!

I've not seen episode 4 yet - can't wait!

Lightswitchesoffatnight · 05/05/2021 22:47

We’ve now watched three episodes. That third episode was harrowing, I had to watch the first part behind a cushion.

So June is on the run again! Go June! Loved the Radiohead at the end.

rikakno · 05/05/2021 22:56

I really hope it doesn't lose its way like lots of of programs do after a few series!
What's everyone's predictions for this series?

gamerchick · 05/05/2021 23:02

Man that 4th episode left me feeling a bit anxious. Christ.

Scissorsforthedrifter · 06/05/2021 07:18

Same here @gamerchick

It is a bit of a stretch keeping June alive. If every handmaiden is needed why push two off the roof? Do you think June is ready to leave Gilead now that Hannah doesn't recognise her, or will she fight harder after meeting the child who was married off to the elderly commander and raped repeatedly?

Are we to assume that Nick was able to arrange the pit stop for public enemy number 1, June ,for their snog with other "eyes" watching on because he is a Commander now? It just seemed a bit ridiculous to me.

Janine, breaks my heart. The rebel leader is foul. Janine has always been resilient - IIRC she was gang raped (resulting in Caleb's birth), Aunt Lydia tried to shame her at the Red Centre about it. I was also never sure she really believed June that Caleb was living near a beach in California, it was just nice to have the fantasy to keep the dark at bay.

Rita is so serene. I'd be so angry with them. Since Fred now knows he's fertile, could he make a play for Nicole somehow/paternity test, even though he's in detention? It would be poetic justice if Fred and Serena's baby was taken when they are both hopefully imprisoned.

rikakno · 06/05/2021 12:55

The two pushed were Martha's not handmaids,
I find June really irritating lately! She's gotten so many people killed! Do we think she will make it to Canada?
Also I've heard rumours that serena's baby is mr tuello (sp) but surely she wouldn't break her vows to Fred, or the other one iv heard is that Canada are lying to her an want her to believe she is pregnant. I hope we're in for a good series!! Anyone know how many eps are in this one? Xx

SapatSea · 06/05/2021 16:13

The two pushed were Martha's not handmaids, that makes sense. Thanks

BG2015 · 06/05/2021 17:08

There are 10 episodes

A woman on a Facebook group I'm on (not Handmaid relevant) says she's already watched ALL of season 4 🤔 I'm doubtful.

I commented that it's only just been released - she said "I've got a long for season 5 then haven't I!"

I thought serena was infertile following being shot?
The depictions of Chicago were so sad, I want to see more of the leftover parts of America.

SapatSea · 06/05/2021 17:25

I thought Serena was infertile too: "it's a miracle"

Freddiefox · 07/05/2021 16:04

I watched the first 4, and thought there were some really good bits, but thought the story line was terrible.

It’s a bit like the walking dead rehashing the same storyline but with different characters. There was nothing new to this season so far.

It didn’t move on. We had more of the same. I think it’s lots it way a bit and really hope the next
Episode move the story on.

My thoughts too 😩
JorisBonson · 07/05/2021 18:40

I've just watched episode 3 and I'm literally pacing the room in shock. Oh my god.

LadyEv · 09/05/2021 18:17

Just watched episode 4 and I can't help but think that's a massively unhygienic way to transport milk. It has food poisoning written all over it. Surely that's the way to bring down Gilead? Rat poison in the milk supply?

Mxflamingnoravera · 09/05/2021 21:23

Omg series 4? I seem to miss out on all the knowledge. I'm going to have balance this with Fargo!

Honestly I was so looking forward to season 4, but I think it was dire.. they are clearly looking to drag this out for many more years to come. It’s such a shame because there really wasn’t anything else like this and now it’s just fades into another box set. I’m so hoping the next few episode are better
BG2015 · 09/05/2021 22:19

I think this happens with lots of American TV shows doesn't it? They just drag them out for years, season after season!

It spoils them. I remember watching Lost right to the end. I still don't understand it? Hours of my life, gone.

Let's hope it doesn't go on for ever.

SapatSea · 10/05/2021 10:29

I think the producers have said they'll keep on making it as long as Elizabeth Moss is willing. I suppose it's Hulu's golden goose, so they don't want to kill it off. Nothing else they have produced comes close in terms of viewership or impact. US series seem to be be made with a 7 season expectation.

Now that June and Janine are in a new environment, things will hopefully pick up and move the story on.
