Agree Paige’s hair drives me nuts !! Like a 2yr I know

and her blue eyeshadow

finally Ian story hero over

agree it’s seems more about the staff then the patients now

maybe coming to a natural end

But it shouldn't have to come to a natural end 😔😞😔😔 they can make it good if they want. We need the greatness back.

spiderlight · 22/05/2022 12:24

It used to be far more about the patients. Every episode would start with a spot-the-victim scene and the staff stories were almost incidental. The balance has tipped far too far the other way now though.

I've watched Casualty since 2003 and yes it always used to begin with the accident, but the staff and their sometimes improbably romances were always the focus!

We need more charismatic characters, like Zoe Hannah, Nick Jordan, Tess Bateman, Jeff the paramedic etc. Interesting, good at their jobs (without other characters commenting on how wonderful they are all the time). And the actors really inhabited the characters.

apart from Dylan, David and Jacob, there is really nobody who fits this description any more.

ethan is bland, one-dimensional and cries at the drop of a hat.
Paige is a stereotypical “whacky” girl
Charlie has never been able to act and just hangs around in the background looking feeble and doddery.

id love to see a wholesale clearout and bring in the characters from Holby. Especially Fletch and Hanson.

purpleme12 · 24/05/2022 12:54

Agree about needing more characters like that.
Although I like Ethan.
And Stevie's a strong character I do think she brings a lot to the show

Mumdiva99 · 24/05/2022 16:36

I actually really enjoyed Saturday's episode. I thought it was a good one.

TrashyPanda · 24/05/2022 23:28

I used to like Ethan.
it’s just that he hasn’t matured at all in the years he’s been in the show. He’s so needy. I just want to shake him, tell him to grow up and stop crying at the drop of a hat.

purpleme12 · 24/05/2022 23:48

Ah I do like Ethan I do think he brings a lot to the show.
Not like Marty or Robyn at the minute. Or Page.
I think there are some strong characters in the show still. I don't know if it's just that they've not been making use of them. Or are they still doing covid rules??
But there are also some weak characters I think that I'm not really bothered about. And I think in the past all of the characters have been worth having in their own way, but I don't believe that's the case at the minute

Furbaby2842 · 28/05/2022 22:17

Once again I feel like this was another episode where nothing actually happened

TrashyPanda · 28/05/2022 22:45

Totally agree, Furbaby.

Dashdotdotdash · 28/05/2022 22:57

Spidey66 · 22/05/2022 15:28

I love Iain's passion and anger but wish he'd stop trying to play the bloody hero all the time.

Definitely. Every time he has the choice between doing something sensible and something bloody stupid, you just know he'll opt for bloody stupid every time.

Dashdotdotdash · 28/05/2022 23:00

I struggle to understand how Paige got the job. When I go to A&E, the last person I want to see is a doctor whose hair and eye make up screams self-consciously "I'm ditsy, me".

TrashyPanda · 28/05/2022 23:34

Her hair bows were truly awful tonight.

AnImaginaryCat · 29/05/2022 09:19

Any episode with Ollie isn't going to be decent. Worst offspring of staff character ever.

Dashdotdotdash · 29/05/2022 09:25

It always irritates me in these shows when some character's relative turns up randomly and then gets annoyed because, guess what, they need to prioritise their work when they're at work. No relative of mine has ever done that, and I don't even work somewhere as pressured as A&E. I'm prepared to bet that whatever Ollie wanted to talk to David about could have easily waited till the end of the shift.

LouisCatorze · 29/05/2022 15:01

Anyone else think Paige is a bit 'all over the place' and will break Rash's heart?

TrashyPanda · 29/05/2022 19:28

Is Ollie going to be Louis Fairhead, mark 2?

TrashyPanda · 29/05/2022 19:30

Rash deserves someone nice. He’s already had his heart broken by Ian’s sister.

paige is too self-consciously “kookie” and I don’t care about her in the slightest.

Perplexed0522 · 29/05/2022 21:23

The Paige and Rash story is so ridiculous.

The age difference must be quite large and she’s just so immature.

He needs to ditch her and run off with me 😘

purpleme12 · 29/05/2022 21:41

I just think she's a rather weak character like a few of them on there at the minute. And I'm not bothered about her because of it

LouisCatorze · 30/05/2022 16:57

The thing is that she wasn't in it for long enough before she went off (presumably on bereavement leave?) for us to properly get to know her, so there's very little investment in her as a character. Really want Rash to be happy but it's unlikely to be with Paige, I'd have thought.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 30/05/2022 17:05

If my doctor turned up with eye makeup like that and those bows in her hair, I’d think I’d arrived at A&E on some kind of weird bring your child to work day. Just dress like a professional ffs. And Rash is such a sweetheart: he doesn’t need his heart broken by A&E Barbie.

And oh for the love of God, Ollie! Just have a shower, get a haircut, and do some volunteering work or something! Anything to stop him wallowing around in his huge pity party for one! You know how many times my teenage son has turned up at work expecting me to drop everything to talk to him and then had a big childish sulk because I couldn’t? Zero.

Perplexed0522 · 30/05/2022 17:54

Do you remember Frieda from Holby? She was also quite quirky.

Paige just can’t carry it off because her quirkiness just seems based in immaturity.

TrashyPanda · 30/05/2022 23:27

I remember Frieda! Loved her.

she was a goth - pale face, dark eyes. And she took no prisoners! And was very good at her job. The actress carried it off perfectly.

Paige just looks like she should be in playgroup. Do the writers think bad makeup and childish hairstyles make for an interesting character? If so, they are wrong.

you are right - comes across as very immature.

LouisCatorze · 31/05/2022 08:47

Frieda 'slayed' (to use teen terminology!). Paige is not in the same league.
