Career enhancing on the part of Carmichael, I mean, not Chloe.

Dogatetheleftovers · 26/04/2021 19:00

I wish it was 90 minutes like series 5 finale. There seems too much to get through in an hour.

SophieB100 · 26/04/2021 19:11

I've said it before and I'll say it again wee fellas - I like Kate, but I don't trust her, so I don't. I never have - ever since she did the dirty on her mate Jane in series 2, copping off with her DH.

"If there's one thing I can't stand, it's coppers copping off" Grin

Ulysses · 26/04/2021 19:22

I waver about Kate but then something will happen that makes me think why did I ever doubt her. Why would H/OCG get Jo to kill her if she was involved for a start. Why would she record Dot's dying declaration.

Now that I've seen the handwriting on the note it's clearly someone in the current AC12/MIT team so I'm back to wondering what if again.

There's so many shades to the 3 main characters but so many things pointing to McGuffins as well.

SophieB100 · 26/04/2021 19:25

The note - could it be Steph?

WeeDonkey · 26/04/2021 19:31

@SophieB100

The note - could it be Steph?
How? She isn't in the police.
IhateBoswell · 26/04/2021 19:44

Hmm, I do wonder if Hastings would have made a point of learning how to spell definite/ly after he was questioned about it last series. I’m guessing Carmichael is H but it would seem a little too obvious.

GlassBoxSpectacular · 26/04/2021 19:44

@SophieB100

The note - could it be Steph?
How, and why? Confused
BentBastard · 26/04/2021 20:06

I think Carmichael is like Huntley and Hilton in S4. Not intrinsically bent but senior officer (Osbourne) encouraging her to cut corners with the promise of having her back.

GlassBoxSpectacular · 26/04/2021 20:35

The way she shut down the questioning every time it veered towards police corruption feels like a Jed herring: it was designed to make us think she’s bent and is protecting ‘H’/herself, but I think it was more that she wants to pursue only the case immediately in front of her - the shooting of Ryan - because she wants results that look good on her record, rather than pursuing anything of wider interest.

Ditto getting Chloe to shred the pic of Osbourne - a career move above anything else. If/when word gets back to him, she gets a big gold star ⭐️

Ellmau · 26/04/2021 20:43

I just don't see Carmichael misspelling anything.

I think she's dodgy/protecting the Chief Constable, but not the person on the end of the computer.

Gladimnotcampinginthisweather · 26/04/2021 21:54

I think Carmichael has beautiful neat handwriting and always checks her spelling. Wink

One thing driving me mad is people saying the definatley thing proves it's Hastings, if so who the chuff was on the other end that day they got him typing about the depo? He's good but he can't be in two places

BentBastard · 27/04/2021 09:15

He was posing as H. The person on the other end was either Lisa or John (can't remember which) in the belief they were chatting to H.

Ejk80 · 27/04/2021 09:28

Maybe H is spelling definitely wrong on purpose to throw suspicion on someone else they know can’t spell it 🙈

sorryboss · 27/04/2021 09:39

Oh yes of course he was! Sorry boss!

I once carved my sister's name in the piano so I wouldn't get into trouble! Similar thinking. 🤣🤣
sorryboss · 27/04/2021 10:38

I cannot spell definitely without spell check

toffeebutterpopcorn · 27/04/2021 10:38

Maybe their spellchecker is as crazy as mine?

Gladimnotcampinginthisweather · 27/04/2021 11:05

Maybe definately is an approved Police spelling.Wink

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 27/04/2021 17:02

The 'definately' spelling proves nothing. Definitely is the most wrongly spelled word in English which probably means that a fairly sizeable % of the population will get it wrong every time!

You'd think those who know it's an OCG marker would also have learned to spell it correctly, so they aren't rumbled as being the fourth man too!
NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 27/04/2021 17:54

I reckon it might be easier to guess who H isn't by who spells the word correctly!

Unless it's a double bluff.😂
NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 28/04/2021 07:26

True. My brain is in knots thinking about double bluffs!

Do you feel as if we're ready for the season final denouement yet? I don't.

Presumably, whatever is going to be buried under the concrete is a massive reveal? What do you think it is? Hopefully not loads of bodies.
