@TheSpottedZebra

Those tweets DO ,sound final, don't they? But that could be a bluff too

I think that Osbourne will be a big baddies, Carmichael will be not bad but very career driven and focused, and willing to pander to people and overlook other things in pursuit of her own goals. I think Hastings will die, maybe by suicide (when the 50k and the causing the death of the UCO is discovered) like Series1, or maybe he'll 'die a hero' sort of on purpose. Jo will probably be killed. Lomax may as yet be a baddie, given how Steve looked at him.

The message will be that the bad people are like the Hydra- chop off a head and another one grows. Ie 4 is nonsense - they're everywhere. Some are thoroughly bad, some are a bit bad. Some start good but turn bad, etc.

I'm with this. Apart from Hastings committing suicide. I can't see that. Much more likely to sacrifice himself to enable the team to catch bent coppers.

Having said that, there is a lot of bluffing going on about the end of the series. I'm wondering if the valedictory tweets are playing along with fan speculation.

All the actors and JM have said they would do another series if it was offered. The BBC have a huge ratings success so why would they say no? I feel like I'm being played ... maybe Wink

@toffeebutterpopcorn

Well they are hardly going to say ‘well that was a bloody wait for nothing’ are they?

It's nearly time!!!

toffeebutterpopcorn · 02/05/2021 22:01

Devastating my arse...

ExpulsoCorona · 02/05/2021 22:12

The only thing I found devastating was the anticlimax

WeeDonkey · 02/05/2021 22:12

So, that interview excerpt was a bluff, as Ted has never been interviewed by AC-12, only AC-3. The image was the oldest interview and the voiceover was made up. Naughty!

I haven't watched this series as I've been crazy busy lambing.

So.... who is H??? Someone tell me please!

Erm... well I was sort of on the money with this bit that I wrote earlier: "The message will be that the bad people are like the Hydra- chop off a head and another one grows. Ie 4 is nonsense - they're everywhere. Some are thoroughly bad, some are a bit bad. Some start good but turn bad, etc."

Buckles came back, to be interviewed. He was a badder buddy than we had been lead to believe. He apparently was sort of an H, doing computer messages and the like. But he also said that there wasn't just 1 boss. It was implied that he was covering for something or someone/s quite a bit. Osbourne still fine it seems.

I found it very underwhelming.

drpet49 · 02/05/2021 22:31

What a disappointment. I found this series to be the worst one yet. Time to call it a day and make the next series the last one.

halfhope · 02/05/2021 22:43

James Nesbitt - best supporting photo?

There wasn't an H as such. Buckles was the laptop man but he just rose through the police ranks and what was asked of him by OCG got bigger as the rose through police ranks.

He was allowed to rise despite this due to underlying corruption and failure to act on corruption by Osbourne who was police top dog.

I don't really have anything constructive to add. I personally think the whole series was probably less ambitious than it would otherwise have been had it not been for the pandemic. In a way I think it would be better to lay LoD to rest now.

ellyeth · 03/05/2021 20:38

I am a great fan of Line of Duty but I think the last three series have not been as good as the first three. I have re-watched up to series 4 but I didn't enjoy series 5 at all and couldn't be bothered to watch it again. It made no sense to me - and, sadly, I found series 6 to be disappointing.

Buggerthebotox · 04/05/2021 07:55

I've rewatched the final episode and I feel it hangs better on the rewatch.

I'm going to watch all of S6 again too to fill in the gaps.

I assume it was the OCG who ordered Jo's removal from prison?

diddl · 04/05/2021 10:22

I enjoyed it overall tbh.

Was H mooted before or after Dot died?

Seems to me that at one time they were looking for H, then the other caddies & then the last caddy & H became conflated into the same person?

Anyway, they didn't find H but rooted out another corrupt policeman.

There will be another series won't there?

Buggerthebotox · 04/05/2021 12:47

H was initially mooted during Dot's dying declaration at the end of s3. . Kate is gathering the info, and Dot blinks at H. He mentions Fairbank too, I think. Fairbank is already under suspicion by then.

S4 sets the H story in train. The n for some weird reason Steve decides that Dot is actually signalling four dots in Morse code - himself, Hilton, Biggeloe and the fourth dot - the fourth man.
