New thread... really hope the title doesn’t offend anyone! I actually really admire how sensitively the story was handled!

Anyway... Corrie in 1998.

I recall Greg Kelly vaguely, but couldn’t remember how he’d come into it.

Denise Welch often looks unwell. Very tired, anyway.

Following Grin

That was so sad 😢, Joanne Froggat is a brilliant actress

You think so?? I was thinking the very opposite. Don't rate her at all. The whole story line didn't hit me as much as I'd have expected because she's so unlikeable
x2boys · 03/05/2021 20:01

I don't think she's meant to be likeable ,she's spikey ,and can be obnoxious, and was a bit of a shit mum ,but the end of the first episode when she got on the floor upset me .

GreenClock · 03/05/2021 20:15

I can see why her stint in CS kickstarted a successful career. She is so talented. Her character is really spiky and unapoealing, so different to the warm Anna Bates in Downton (for example). Yet I felt massive sympathy for her when she lay on the floor.

eggandonion · 04/05/2021 09:10

I assumed it wasn't on yesterday, its usually Carry On films on bank holidays. I have to try not to be dependent on watching, so I can go back to work without missing it badly.

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 04/05/2021 11:00

I'm only just catching up with last week's episodes. I've got seven hours of recordings to get through.

Yes, FeltCarrot, I saw the poster! Although I had to rewind and pause to read it properly, because it was so quick!

It actually made me chuckle for ages afterwards 🤣

In case anyone missed it, the poster obviously says, 'Free Deirdre Rachid', but someone had written underneath, 'With Every 5 Pints'.

Genius 😊

She's a complicated human in this and that's good acting.

Same with books. I wouldn't read a thing if all the characters had to be likeable Grin.

I think it probably helped with Joanne Frogatt’s career that Zoe wasn’t a likeable character. It can be difficult to get away from a beloved character; viewers are too attached to see the actor as anyone else.

Does anyone else think Vicky Entwistle must have been ill when three episodes were filmed? It seems odd that Janice would be completely absent from the Greg Kelly story and Shannon’s death, given how involved Leanne is. A couple of times in the Greg scenes I felt like Toyah was saying lines that could have been meant for Janice.

I did like the scene where Gail was comforting Leanne. It felt very realistic that Gail would put her dislike of Leanne aside and just treat her as an upset young girl.

It was on yesterday, I saw it this morning on ITVhub.
eggandonion · 04/05/2021 20:40

I'm not in the uk and can't record it or watch itv hub, or bbc iplayer...only real time Sad if something happening 20 years ago is real time! I always liked Mike and Alma, his smile!
I saw it today so all good.

Housewife2010 · 05/05/2021 16:16

Watch out for the future John Stape as a policd officer in today's 2.50 episode.

x2boys · 05/05/2021 16:42

I saw him @Housewife2010 ,the irony 🤣🤣

thenightsky · 05/05/2021 18:08

John Stape as a police officer confused me!

I noticed that :-)! It was a good few years before he became John Stape though.

That often happens, Sarah Lancashire who was Racquel for several years, had a brief part in Corrie earlier on; she was a nurse looking for digs when the Duckworths were seeking a lodger. Needless to say she did not take the room after being shown around by Jack.

The same has happened with others.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 06/05/2021 14:54

Beth was in it as a nurse a few weeks ago as well.

And Bodybag from Bad Girls today!

Maggiesfarm · 06/05/2021 15:25

Margi Clarke has pitched up recently on 'Classic': I remember her as Tyrone's mother and as a vicar, but could be confused.

Maggiesfarm · 06/05/2021 15:28

I'm enjoying the current 'Jack giving up smoking' scenario, involving the hypnotist. It's hilarious.

x2boys · 06/05/2021 15:28

Yes Surannah Jones had a very brief blink and you would miss her part as one of Chris,s girlfriends a few months ago.

Maggiesfarm · 06/05/2021 22:29

I didn't notice her.

The Shannon dying story and Zoe's PND is quite harrowing.

PaintedBottom · 06/05/2021 23:38

Margi Clarke was credited as Jackie Dobbs. Definitely Tyrone's mum before we ever met Ty. He must be due in it in the next few years?

Iwantacampervan · 07/05/2021 07:48

Tyrone appears in Nov 1998 so not long to wait now!
