New thread... really hope the title doesn’t offend anyone! I actually really admire how sensitively the story was handled!

Anyway... Corrie in 1998.

@eggandonion

I'm not in the uk and can't record it or watch itv hub, or bbc iplayer...only real time Sad if something happening 20 years ago is real time! I always liked Mike and Alma, his smile! I saw it today so all good.
I use Filmon TV and record it. Best 100 quid a year spent! No faffing with VPNs either.
Housewife2010 · 07/05/2021 16:39

I love Jack pretending to be a historical character. Great fun.

eggandonion · 07/05/2021 17:10

I think Sam needs to go, she's not bringing anything to the party. And Jack is hilarious, and annoying in equal part!

MrsDoctorDear · 07/05/2021 18:46

Where have I seen hypnotist lady?

SophieB100 · 07/05/2021 20:15

@MrsDoctorDear
She's been in loads of things - but was in all the episodes of Bad Girls, as a prison officer.

Housewife2010 · 07/05/2021 22:09

Helen Fraser was the hypnotist. She has been in many films/TV. She was the girlfriend in the 60s classic film "Billy Liar" and in lots of 70s TV series like On the Buses , Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads, Tales of the Unexpected and Man about the House. She had another small part in Coronation Street a few years ago. I liked her in the fabulously ridiculous Bad Girls.

MrsDoctorDear · 08/05/2021 00:41

Jocelyn in the Royle Family with the new sofa! I remember her in the Likely Lads aswell. I didn't watch Bad Girls.

Costaheaven · 08/05/2021 09:58

Ah how much I miss jack and Vera- amazing chemistry

KarensChoppyBob · 08/05/2021 13:48

I'd forgotten what a talented comedic actress Liz Dawn was. Must have been too young to appreciate it then but she's brilliant.

MrsSteveMcDonald · 08/05/2021 20:40

Marking my place for if I ever catch up. Currently on 13th April

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 09/05/2021 00:21

Help, please!

I've seen all of last weeks episodes except the ones when Deirdre was released from prison!

My recording device thingy didn't record them, so I went straight from Deirdre hearing about the new evidence, to her being back in her flat, having the heart-to-heart conversation with Alma.

Did Officer Veitch turn out to be nice, and apologise for being nasty?

Or did Deirdre just have a go at her and leave prison?

Please, someone, describe to me what happened!

Any synopsis would be greatly appreciated 😘

SophieB100 · 09/05/2021 05:46

@WheresThatCatGoneNow
From what I can recall, Dreary was released due to the evidence from the new woman who had married John. She was told by Veitch to get her stuff and leave. Veitch was with her and the Margi Clarke character whilst Dreary was getting her bits and bobs, and was goading her. Dreary had a go at her, Margi Clarke warned Dreary to stop (as D went to hit Veitch). Then Margi said "have this on me" and gave Veitch a good slap!
I may have got that a bit muddled though, as I don't always watch as carefully as I should!
She told Alma and Mike that she would stay with Ken, then Ken tried to kiss her, she went and lived with Liz.

That's as much as I recall!

I’m hating the Zoe storyline, she’s so annoying I just fast forward through her scenes now. Ditto Jack and his pirate regression ooh arrr 😀

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 09/05/2021 09:54

That's really kind of you, SophieB100!

Brilliant summing-up, thanks so much 👏🏻👏🏻

I don’t enjoy Jack and Vera as a couple -I think they’re actually quite toxic and he’s immensely disrespectful. Brilliant actors though. I suppose I’m seeing it through 2021 eyes when theirs were of course a 1950s relationship.

Roy’s reaction to Lusty Jack made me laugh but tbh I’m surprised he was fooled.

Ashley fell for unappealing Zoe because she was needful. Compared to confident, arms-length Maxine, anyway. He’s a generous and kind guy but there was something in it for him too I guess.

I’m bored with the hospital storyline already, Des/Nat/Sam too. CS is in a bit of a lull for me currently. Looking forward to Hayley’s return and the arrival of Tyrone and also Rebecca (Jill Halfpenny).

StillCoughingandLaughing · 09/05/2021 12:53

Yep, Ashley definitely had a rescue complex there.

Was Ashley the nicest person ever on Corrie? Was he ever mean?

StillCoughingandLaughing · 09/05/2021 13:09

Yes, he was once... am I allowed to say how, or does it constitute a spoiler for people who didn’t see the episodes first time around?

eggandonion · 09/05/2021 14:21

I googled! I'd like to watch for the first time.

GreenClock · 09/05/2021 23:12

Congrats to Tracy Brabin (Tricia) on her election success. The mayor! What would Alf say? Grin

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 11/05/2021 03:28

Can anyone please tell me which bridge over the canal was shown in the episode today, when Zoe took baby Morgan walkabout?

Did anybody happen to recognise it?

I'm interested in bridge design, and would like to find out more about that one.

x2boys · 11/05/2021 08:27

No I didn't recognise it either ,I thought maybe Salford Docks?

x2boys · 11/05/2021 08:34

Yep I think it's Salford/Quays/ Docks ,ñowadays it will be a lot more built up because of media city etc.

MaudGrimesRIP · 11/05/2021 09:37
