Anyone missing Nicola Walker. Series 1 Last Tango in Halifax. I could watch that series 20 times.
Please say there's 1 member here who has yet to watch it or missed it???

SingToTheSky · 30/03/2021 13:49

I’ve never seen it, what’s it about?

unique1986 · 30/03/2021 13:57

^Last Tango in Halifax is a British comedy-drama series that began broadcasting on BBC One on 20 November 2012. Screenwriter Sally Wainwright loosely adapted the story of her mother's second marriage. The series stars Derek Jacobi and Anne Reid as Alan and Celia. Nicola Walker and Sarah Lancashire etc

MSQuinn · 30/03/2021 14:00

I loved Last Tango in Halifax. SL and NW my favourite double act. I also loved Happy Valley.

AndwhenyougetthereFoffsomemore · 30/03/2021 14:25

I've not seen Last Tango, so your hard PR work won't go unnoticed, @unique1986 Wink. I think I didn't like the person who recommended it to me so determinedly didn't watch it... Do you know where you can watch? I'm hoping not only Britbox...

Borntobeamum · 30/03/2021 14:32

Omg. Sat sobbing!!!

unique1986 · 30/03/2021 14:34

Haha Yes should be on I Player.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 30/03/2021 14:36

I am glad she died rather than retired. It would have been a rubbish cop out for her to recover and retire. This was much more fitting.

I doubt Cassie could retire! She'd be fine for three months then bored witless and itching to get back to tracking down "wrong 'uns" again.

PhillipPhillop · 30/03/2021 15:08

I wonder if she's have been happy with John? He seemed a bit miserable and quite cold all series. Even when he said at the end something about how he felt like he'd won the lottery being with her it was said without any emotion. I was wondering all series if he'd turn out to be a bad guy but it seems he wasn't, just not very interesting!

Woodlandbelle · 30/03/2021 15:40

Yes I thought that was an odd unemotive comment about winning the lottery. I don't think John made her really happy. But he was stable and a partner in her life

mistermagpie · 30/03/2021 15:40

I'm glad it's coming back, it's been an excellent series even though this one was probably the weakest. Sunni is a great character and I actually think it would be good for him to partner up with, say, Fran and take on the next case.

This series was disappointing to be honest but I don't know if they had to work around Covid (Sheila Hancock vanished, but at her age she would probably have been shielding) and that affected things. I don't think Cassie should have died though, it wasn't a fitting ending for her, I think she should have gone to live in Cornwall (or wherever it was) with Boring John The Most Tolerant Man in the World.

We haven't seen the back stories of any of the other members of the team really so
I think they've got plenty they could do with the existing cast, but a new detective could also work.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 30/03/2021 15:42

Sunni seemed much more cut up about her death than John did.

Nicola Walker is also in Collateral (she plays a vicar in that!) which is worth a watch and also has a pretty stellar cast including Carey Mulligan.

Thefaceofboe · 30/03/2021 16:11

I always thought Sunni and Cassie would end up together Sad

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/03/2021 16:31

They cut off hands and head. Should have chopped body all up and dropped off via drug smuggling in sea lol x

OP posts:
MSQuinn · 30/03/2021 16:33

I wondered who had chopped up the body and whether it was Rob or who it was.

PursuingProxemicExactitude · 30/03/2021 16:36

Collateral was an odd thing. A few potentially interesting personal stories, but the whole somehow added up to less than the parts.

One of those disappointing shows where everything is beautifully done, but it's hard to really care about any of the characters.

Boring John The Most Tolerant Man in the World

Nope Magpie - he isn't even interesting enough to be the most tolerant.

That accolade goes to Fiona's husband/partner, who having been lied to for 30 years about MURDER and NON-CERTIFICATED THERAPY THAT COULD GET THE ARSES SUED OFF THEM, dragged into horrendous debt, and at risk of losing their home (and possibly Fiona has shagged his brother - that was another little mystery that was never cleared up) STILL promised to wait for her because he still loves her the lying, deceitful, self-obsessed, entitled little twat that she is.

Boring John is merely the Second Most Tolerant Man In The World.

You seem very well-informed about this sort of thing Blondes.

Just' sayin'

Remember the time they got tiddily and he nearly kissed her? Grin

Series 2 was it?

Billandben444 · 30/03/2021 16:59

Don't think Sunni will head up the new series - wonder who they'll bring in?

Why didn't any of them have guests at the passing-out parade? Ha ha, another loose end.
Dean - cos he was estranged from his family?, Ram - cos his family disapproved?, Fiona - why wasn't at least her dad there?, Liz - hiding the fact she was gay perhaps?
Didn't any of them have any run-of-the-mill friends though?

OysterMonkey · 30/03/2021 17:02

They should’ve done more with the fit Laird IMHO. He’s the fit Laird for God’s sake. He’s still got it. So give us some hotness in amongst this year of doom and gloom.
But oh no, we have literally minutes of him. And he’s doing nothing (sexy) of note.

So many unanswered questions . . . Envy

OH GOD, YOURE RIGHT! What a sap he was, such a weird guy, just sort of 'oh right, what's that now? You've killed a child drunk driving, got your mate to cover that up, been involved in a murder, covered that up for 30 years, spent the entire time practicing as a therapist with a forged license and lied to me and our children about your entire past?' no problem love, see you when you get out of prison for date night and a snuggle on the sofa!

You can almost hear her saying - When you put it like that it makes it sound bad"

aramox · 30/03/2021 18:34

I've been irritated all day! Spent all week working out complex explanations for the odds and ends and they just dropped them. Even if Covid /determination to kill Cass got in the way they could have done something about the fridge, Sheila Hancock, and the cross dads of Ram and Liz. Waste!
