Elaine’s behaviour when Tim walked in and told them Yasmeen was in the hospital was so strange. She jumped up wittering about going to the hospital and is it the right thing to do and then said “yes it is, Yasmeen needs support yadda yadda” and stomped out without any response from Tim or Sally. It was almost as if she’d gone off script and they didn’t know how to react so just watched her. It was like a blooper outtake. And also- Yasmeen had support. Her granddaughter. Why would this relative stranger be allowed in to hang around this woman who has had a heart attack? She reminds me of the virtue signallers that post on MN about the neighbour/sister of a friend that they must create a support package for Hmm

I'd have liked to see Asha and Nina as oddly-paired best mates but this added dimension [that I tried to explain very badly earlier today] has precluded that possibility. Several of us on these threads have bemoaned the dearth of female teen friendships. There'd have been lots of potential [post-pandemic] for outings, parties, dating, secrets shared...the usual stuff. And Amy could have been added to the mix.

Speaking of Amy, is it just me or does she seem to always speak through gritted teeth, as though she's afraid of showing them? I think she used to have retainers but doesn't now. I've seen photos of her smiling and her teeth are fine. Bit of a puzzle.

UhtredRagnarson · 04/03/2021 12:24

Amy has very irritating mannerisms. I can’t stand any scenes she is in.

Deadringer · 04/03/2021 12:25

Agree with a pp, Roy and Nina are great together. We need more of these sort of pairings, instead of constant ridiculous romances. I was wondering if Daisy is trying to get Jenny and her dad back together? I know that is silly and i don't know if he is remarried, or even dead, it's just a thought.

Roussette · 04/03/2021 13:09

Daisy needs to take a hike.

Jenny has never been backward in coming forward but she is with Daisy

I have a vague idea that he remarried and had another child, but the same thing happened in a book I read where the woman had lost a child, so I might be confusing the two Confused

Yes why make everything so overtly sexual- not necessary
Pebbledashery · 04/03/2021 14:30

What the heck happened to yasmeen

Akire · 04/03/2021 14:31

I wonder what they will do with all the teens now? Traditionally just all work on street but it’s 2020 now. Amy should be off to UNi really in a few years. Asha has failed examples so maybe they are planning her to hang around and brother works in shop.

What is there for Amy to do? Faye has nothing now either.

excelledyourself · 04/03/2021 14:59

I loved the Roy and Nina "Winner, winner"... "Do I have to?" scene Grin

Roussette · 04/03/2021 15:16

Yes it was sweet. And the timing on the acting was good

icecreamgirl94 · 04/03/2021 15:35

I’m finding Asha and Nina a bit, I don’t know really, just like the writers don’t really know where they’re trying to go with them.
Saying that though I don’t think that’s a problem exclusive to them, Corrie has never really done a really strong and believable lesbian relationship in my opinion.
Sophie & Sian felt far too rushed with them getting married, and then it was suddenly over and forgotten over something relatively small.
Sophie & Maddie could have worked but Maddie died.
Sophie & Lloyd’s daughter whose name I forgot and Sophie & Paula just felt weird and unbelievable, no chemistry at all. Incidentally whatever happened to Paula? Is she down the sinkhole?
And as for Kate & Rana, the less said about that mess the better, a combination of lame and unbelievable scripts mixed with really shite acting.
From what I’ve seen so far, I don’t think Asha and Nina are going to change this trend.

It would be quite refreshing to see Amy (or any of the other teens) get decent, but not outstanding, exam results and go to a commutable ex-poly university. Usually exam results are either terrible, to ensure the teen character stays around, or brilliant, so that they can go off to a top uni and leave the show (and never visit). Also, soap teens never seem to have an idea of how they’ll do until they open the envelope. I remember being disappointed with my A Level results, but it was Bs rather than As - if you’re in a soap you either get straight As or fail.

I love the relationship between Roy and Nina. I think they are pushing the Nina and Asha story too hard. When I was younger I would have run a mile if someone had tried to persuade me to attend a family dinner. It's too claustrophobic
I think Asha is seeking validation, it's the first time in ages that Dev hasn't shown disappoint in her
Just let them be friends for God's sake
How many actors did it have in its hey day compared to now? They need to tighten up their ship and get some real writers on board

eggandonion · 04/03/2021 16:54

I think Roy's brother should have lived, that would have been nice. Especially if he had a nice house, roy could have visited, Nina could have worked a bit in the cafe. The writers prefer tragedy.

DontFuckItUp · 04/03/2021 20:56

I'm also predicting something between Daniel and Paul and Dev and Nina. The last coupling makes me feel a bit icky though Confused

UhtredRagnarson · 04/03/2021 21:05

Oh I thought you meant a foursome there for a moment! Blush I know Corrie has gone a bit crazy but that would be taking it too far Grin

JoanWilderbeast · 04/03/2021 21:05

Covering my eyes for spoilers as I watch the Omnibus, but just wanted to give a fist bump for the new title, lol ;0

WeeWillyWanky · 04/03/2021 21:11

Just caught up with Wednesday's episodes. Yasmeen's acting was absolutely appalling.
I would like to put Daisy's head down the toilet and flush.

eggandonion · 04/03/2021 21:38

They should put a selection of characters into the Big Brother house, the drama!

FantasticButtocks · 05/03/2021 10:50

What the hell is the actual point of Daisy? Every time she talks to Jenny she's pouting, and posturing and almost seems to be flirting with her, I just don't get it!

Perhaps it's just terrible acting. It's very hard to watch scenes with her in them, as I find her stroking things with her fingertip, pouting, all the while trashing Jenny's life and marriage, really odd. It's like she's auditioning to be in a rude film! Yuk!

UhtredRagnarson · 05/03/2021 11:13

I’ve noticed the flirting type behaviour from daisy and Nina and I genuinely think it’s because the writers just can’t write real young female characters. If I had to guess I would say it’s men writing this stuff and subconsciously writing for the male gaze but I may be wrong.

Roussette · 05/03/2021 11:37

No point to Daisy.

She just files her nails, pouts and is nasty. I betcha it's someone in ITV's daughter who wants a bash at acting.

Akire · 05/03/2021 13:11

Even if Jenny says Yes Daisy Jonny is a lose I’m getting a divorce! What will she be left with? She arrived on street with a bag of clothes, even if she gets half of Jonnys assets for 2y of marriage? She be lucky to buy a tiny flat above shop and be jobless.

Optimist1 · 05/03/2021 13:35

If Jenny would only remind Daisy that she made promises re sickness, health, better and worse and intends to keep them! (Alternatively give her a slap round the chops)
