Motherland Christmas special on 23rd.....can’t wait.

It’s on tonight (23rd) and I’m really looking forward to watching it. We need all the laughs that we can get. Not sure what the storyline is but I saw it advertised.

It must have been filmed last year, I noticed that in the nativity scene there were no leaves on the trees in the park.

It always bugs me when they try to pass off scenes as being filmed at a different time of year - like the scene in the most recent season of “The Crown” of Princess Anne apparently competing at Badminton Horse Trials (which take place in early May) - with completely bare trees in the background Xmas Angry Xmas Grin

Finally caught up this eve and felt so nostalgic seeing them altogether repainting the wall. Made me miss my friends and our adventures even more. Zoom and WhatsApp just isn't the same. Xxx

My favourite part of all was Amanda singing the descant to ‘O Come All Ye Faithful’ when she turned up at the wall. Genius.

I loved it but must've been a tiny bit drunk when I watched the first half last night as I can't remember some of the moments. I did actually feel sorry for Amanda last night. But I loved that the prep was done. Hate Julia's husband

Does anyone know where I can rewatch series 1? I recorded all of them but someone has deleted series 1! Also, is the pilot anywhere? I remember loving it but haven't seen it since.

@midnightstar66 thanks I may rewatch series 1 with DH. I binge watched it when he was away once as didn't think it was his sort of thing, but he also really enjoyed the Christmas special.

It's a bit confusing as the pilot is often billed as episode 1 (there are 6 episodes of season 1 plus the pilot on Netflix)

It's not on iPlayer. Only the Christmas special on there at the moment. Haven't got Netflix but another poster has said it's there.

Wonder when it was filmed.
It had a copy of last year’s Radio Times in a shot so I think it must have been filmed early this year.

Just found this thread, I absolutely love motherland and have got the second series recorded on the telly thankfully! So annoying Netflix only has 1 on there.
Anyway, I thought the Christmas special was excellent, loved Kevin rocking out to the nativity in his sweaty menopause jumper, and the fact that Jills job on Christmas Day is to refill the chocolate bowl 🤪
And the lack of apostrophe in Santa’s made me fume too!
Julia and Amanda’s stand off over the candle/lemon squeezer was hilarious, Amanda muttering that it was her party like a 6 year old Grin

Only have two more of Season 2 to watch, then I can catch up on the Christmas special.

But pp are right, you do need a few episodes to get into it - then the full panoply of cruelty and sadness really hits you. Amanda in her red beret (S2) sinking down onto the stairs will stay with me for months ...
