It’s on tonight (23rd) and I’m really looking forward to watching it. We need all the laughs that we can get. Not sure what the storyline is but I saw it advertised.

Excellent. Binge watched the whole series last weekend - so much better than anticipated. Will be good to have a follow up.

HarrietSchulenberg · 23/12/2020 21:00

Thank you, lovely people! I read this with just enough time to walk the dog and am now bunkered down on the sofa with tea and lebkuchen, watching the last of University Challenge.
I'd've missed this it wasn't for you lot as my TV has refused to run iPlayer since last December.

AnyFucker · 23/12/2020 21:04

Have you guys seen "Mandy" on I Player ? It's brilliant.

GlummyMcGlummerson · 23/12/2020 21:06

I'm pleased they haven't gone for a COVID episode but isn't it strange to see everyone standing close together

Why do I feel like they aren’t standing as close as they look, has it been filmed in a way due to covid ?

bestbefore · 23/12/2020 21:25

Poor Anne

tanqueray10 · 23/12/2020 21:39

I loved it!!! Wish it had been longer though 😊

rookiemere · 23/12/2020 21:41

That was brilliant!

pipnchops · 23/12/2020 21:51

Agree it was strange seeing people close together, made me wish I could have my friends over. Who did all the Christmas prep for Julia? That would be lovely if someone did that!

I was just coming on to say who did the Christmas prep for Julia? Not her in-laws I don't think. Was it her mother or her useless husband?
rookiemere · 23/12/2020 21:56

I'm pretty sure it was her long suffering mother who did it all. Why didn't she buy it all ready prepped from M&S though ?

pipnchops · 23/12/2020 21:56

Her mother seems more likely, glad it wasn't just me that was confused about that.

Standrewsschool · 23/12/2020 21:58

I’m convinced that the writers of Motherland uses mumsnet for their plots.

ArabellaPilkington · 23/12/2020 21:59

My elderly mum, who frequently brings us her rotten bananas etc, arrived to stay this afternoon. She's in our support bubble.

The scene where the entire fridge falls out on Anna MM as the PILs have brought all their rotting food, half an onion etc as it was going to go off had us howling 🤣

It's the little things, like asking for scissors and sellotape that are just so fucking exasperating - as well as expecting to have a meal on Christmas Eve 🤣 - perfectly observed. I'd've been happy if it'd stayed in her house the entire show.

The fairies? Grinmaybe they all chipped in to do it?

This is why I love this show. The nuances are Bob on - I love that her in-laws come and don't do anything f especially awful, they're just irritating because it scarily true to life. Graham Linehan is a total genius
PhoebeSnow · 23/12/2020 22:10

Yes Graham is a total genius and a bloody good man too!

Cleebope2 · 23/12/2020 22:10

Given that Linehan is a mumsnetter he’s totally snagged our main gripes. I felt exhausted for her with it all to do and her husband phoning to check presents. I would’ve absconded to the party too even if it was cringe.

Lurleene · 23/12/2020 22:10

Wasn't Julia's Mum really poorly in the last episode? I see her new found appreciation of her has worn off already.

Loved Mein Kraft. Grin

PhoebeSnow · 23/12/2020 22:10

Loved it!

GlummyMcGlummerson · 23/12/2020 22:12

If you're reading this @Glinner we love you Grin
