I've just seen Kevin Anderson is playing Berrettini later- Anderson is another player who was riding high not so long ago, who has seen a dramatic slide in form. He's had a few injury problems though. I like Kevin.

Raahh · 09/02/2021 06:44

RBA is outSad thats sad- I love watching him. I'm not sure if he was struggling with an injury the other day though.

PrivateSpidey · 09/02/2021 06:45

Yes I thought Rafa seemed to be moving pretty well. Hopefully a good sign for him.

That's a tough draw for Kevin Anderson, Berrettini has been playing really well in the lead up to the AO.

Fizzywinegum · 09/02/2021 08:39

Good to see that Rafa is safely through - phew! Hope all of his matches aren’t going to be on in the middle of the night Hmm

Dan and Cameron Norrie are having a bit of a battle

We’re snowed in again which means that everyone is in the house (again!) and I can’t even get out to do the only things that I’m allowed to - walk and go to the supermarket!

Oh well might as well stay in and watch the tennis Grin (I still need to clean out the fridge!)

Raahh · 09/02/2021 09:00

Fizzy such a shame you can't leave the house, and must watch tennis. It's the right thing to do. Enjoy the warmer weather through the tv. Grin.
Still no proper snow here, thankfully, which means the dog will get a decent walk.

I had a feeling the Evans/Norrie match would be a tight one- neither are afraid to play 5 set matches, really.

Talking of which- Sandgren- another one who narrowly lost to Fed after an epic last year- is out. That match last year was bonkers- he really should have won it in the 4th set- it seemed to go on for ages. He played a few epic matches, last year, Sandgren.

Raahh · 09/02/2021 10:54

Just switched over to (after Kevin lost) to see what was happening in the Tsitsipas/Simon match- and it is pretty much over. Gilles doesn't seem to be able to do anything right.

Raahh · 09/02/2021 10:55

Stef is wearing a very bright yellow top and brownish shorts. DD2 just declared it looks like her Brownie uniform Grin.

JaneJeffer · 09/02/2021 11:09

I think I'll pop over there now... well, change channels that is...
Grin

Are you all watching Eurosport? I couldn't find it on Prime.

No snow here but it's very cold. I've just had two men in the house from the insurance company so I've been spraying dettol on anything they might have touched! I haven't been in a shop since December. I'm turning into Howard Hughes. Help.

Fizzywinegum · 09/02/2021 11:21

Jane I think we’ll all struggle if/when we ever get out of this!

Yes the tennis is on Eurosport - I tried to find it on prime yesterday but I don’t think it’s on - means we have to put up with boring Frew!

That was a bit of a turn up for the books with Cameron beating Dan

In shock news I’ve cleaned out the fridge Shock

magimedi · 09/02/2021 11:56

Well done, Fizzy bet you feel Halo

Enjoying all your commentary & keeping up via the AO website.

Tiny bit of snow here but too icy to walk & bitterly cold in strong wind.

I had a feeling Cam would win. He beat Dan at the Battle of the Brits in December and I think Dan probably hadn't recovered from playing five matches last week.

Looking at the order of play for tomorrow, I see that Stefanos is playing doubles with his brother Grin

Raahh · 09/02/2021 12:35

Gavrilova is funny- she's always good value in interviews.

Fizzywinegum · 09/02/2021 13:14

Stefanos and his brother playing doubles should be interesting - hope they don’t start fighting Grin

I do feel better for cleaning the fridge magi - I had a bit of a slump yesterday but have forced myself to do things today so feel a bit better - just wish the pesky snow would go!

I had a message from my friend in Brisbane - they are back to normal now - she didn’t have much sympathy for the tennis players!

Fizzywinegum · 09/02/2021 14:30

Good to see that His Lordship is making himself useful Grin

Fizzywinegum · 09/02/2021 14:32

I thought I’d posted a picture but apparently not Hmm

JaneJeffer · 09/02/2021 14:44

How would they cope without him? Grin

Raahh · 09/02/2021 15:23

Nice hat, your lordship Grin

kazzaD66 · 09/02/2021 22:06

I saw the local news video of that story earlier. It was quite sweet Smile

kazzaD66 · 09/02/2021 22:13

In fact, it's just come up as a headline for the local news after the BBC Ten O'clock News Grin

Fizzywinegum · 09/02/2021 22:23

You’re local news is obviously more exciting than ours kazza Grin

Fizzywinegum · 09/02/2021 22:24

Your!

Raahh · 10/02/2021 08:41

Morning all- been checking the overnight scores.
Stan Bear is out Sad - a very close match, by the look of things at the end. Kvitova lost too which I am very sad about. Andreescu, who I don't think has played much over the last year is also out. I don't thnk she played last year's AO, after winning the US Open, so disappointing for her.

Easy looking win for Thiem, Shapo and Raonic- but Djok was taken to 4 sets by Tiafoe. The commentator on the Osaka match has just said he might have been affected by the weather- it's been very hot. Unusual for him to be an early match- if he was affected by the heat, no doubt it will be arranged so all his matches are nght ones from now onHmm.

I still can't get used to seeing so many people together! Grin.

Raahh · 10/02/2021 08:44

The Opelka /Fritz match looks like it has been a hard one- into the 5th set, and the scoreline is 4-6 7-6 6-7 7-6! Grin

Raahh · 10/02/2021 08:51

Of course, now I've said how close the match is, Fritz has raced off to a 4-0 lead in the 5th. Which I don't mnd, as Opelka is freakishly tall, and looks like an overgrown toddler with a beard, which gives me the creeps. Grin.

kazzaD66 · 10/02/2021 09:00

Sad about Stan Bear
Apparently, he had three match points, I'm guessing in the 15 minute 5th set tie break.
