New ’un.

Whose turn on the storyline merry-go-round will it be this week?

Natasha is quite inappropriate.

Smallsteps88 · 13/11/2020 20:15

Nick is playing this part extremely well IMO.

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 13/11/2020 20:15

@Smallsteps88

And due to the real life possibility of someone with a terminally ill child who wasn't able to even go in and hold their hand.

yes. oh there's just so many reasons they should have pulled this story.

I disagree. Its meant to be realistic and in real life he would still be dying and the court case would still be happening.

in real life nick, leanne, steve, toyah, gail, sarah would all be able to hug each other.

Well that is true. I just think if they'd dropped it we'd all be asking what happened and where Oliver was, or why he was miraculously cured. Its a bloody horrible storyline anyway. I've turned it off to watch a live stream of DS's favourite YouTuber instead Hmm
Smallsteps88 · 13/11/2020 20:22

Jesus! why are they doing this conversation in front of Oliver???

Roussette · 13/11/2020 20:22

And he's not there.

deffonamechange · 13/11/2020 20:33

Jane danson is fantastic!

RJnomore1 · 13/11/2020 20:44

I disagree with people about Steve not being good enough for this. He was incredible in the Rory storyline and I think he’s shown immense conflict here. He and his wife lost a child in real life too didn’t they.

It’s an incredibly hard storyline to watch isn’t it.

augustusglupe · 13/11/2020 20:50

Very good acting all round but Jane Danson was so believable. I had tears pouring down my face and I never cry at soaps.

x2boys · 13/11/2020 20:53

I only watch this off and on but this is such a sad story line and I know there have been similar real life cases ,however awful Leanne is behaving to those around her it's tragic it must be so hard for any parent to let go.

PoloNeckKnickers · 13/11/2020 20:54

@nildesparandum

I have yet to see Billy do anything I would describe as being a priest of any Christian denomination.He just swans around in a different coloured clerical shirt in nearly every scene and eyes up available men. That scene with the Bishop is just unbelievable.
No priest I know would spray their trousers on either.
thenightsky · 13/11/2020 20:57

God that was harrowing!

eddiemairswife · 13/11/2020 21:29

I thought Steve played his scenes very movingly, I can't say the same for Leanne.

Honeyroar · 13/11/2020 21:42

I thought they both did it well. Although I did think to myself it’s no wonder he’s acting this well, all Steve’s plot lines are one night stands getting pregnant, losing children, weddings or divorces. He’s had a lot of practice.

Spidey66 · 13/11/2020 23:05

IRL the court hearing would have been done remotely.

Very well acted, and harrowing. I felt for Leanne even if the decision to switch off the life support is right. No-one wants to outlive their child

StillCoughingandLaughing · 13/11/2020 23:07

Ah thanks. Would they really have told parents where the dr was. Surely they'd just say he was indisposed?

It’s supposed to be all over the news. Natasha saw the verdict online.

Clawdy · 13/11/2020 23:29

The young dad on the phone who spoke to Steve at the end looked familiar. Good actor too.

ZaraCarmichaelshighheels · 13/11/2020 23:42

@zukiecat

Sarah lost Billy too, he's never been mentioned in this storyline.

Kevin also seems to forget that his baby with Alison died too.

Yes no mention of her son who died, Sarah is a mother 3 times over but had to ask a nurse what she should say and do at Oliver’s bedside? Ridiculous.
Snaileyes · 13/11/2020 23:46

Leanne was amazing, I filled up from her performance. I think Steve should have cried though. I’d like to think most dads would be broken hearted and ruined after making that decision. Tbh Steve looked like he’d just missed the bus!

Snaileyes · 13/11/2020 23:51

@augustusglupe

Very good acting all round but Jane Danson was so believable. I had tears pouring down my face and I never cry at soaps.
Yes I really agree with this she was amazing. It made me think how I’d react in the same position and it would probably be the same. Her keening was very believable and upsetting.

I agree was waiting for the emotion of Steve. Can’t believe a dad that had just basically said this is the end wasn’t over wrought.

theresnoonequitelikegrandma · 13/11/2020 23:55

I nearly lost it at Sarah's singing the Skye Boat Song....really moving. But then I was totally distracted with Leanne and Steve sitting by the obviously empty bed! For a minute I thought Oliver had gone!

EachandEveryone · 13/11/2020 23:56

It just goes to show how good the actors are when they have a meaty storyline. They must be bored out of their heads half the time.

Redglitter · 14/11/2020 03:01

The empty bed was absolutely ridiculous. Surely they could have done something to make it look like he was there

Thought Leanne was excellent in the court scenes but back to being annoying as hell after that. I think Steve is playing his part far better than Leanne. He seems more real. Shes just bloody annoying

Who knew Tracy could be so nice. I think she's my favourite character in the show.

Love how Jenny will take any excuse to grab a bottle of wine & get stuck in 🤭

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 14/11/2020 03:12

I thought the acting was great all round tonight. I think Steve is just holding it together, I know people like that. They just don't cry. Leanne is believable, I think that's how I'd react if it were me. And yes her voice is annoying, but I believe all her emotions. Sarah not knowing what to say... again believable. Even from someone who's had children. Because how do you act around one who's dying. Gail going in the pub and saying not to be nice to her. Yep. I've done that too.
I just hope they don't drag it out too much longer. My nerves can't take it.

CoolShoeshine · 14/11/2020 08:09

Leanne was acted amazingly, end of. That wasn’t any old crying it was the grief stricken howls of someone losing a loved one. Well done her. Bit harrows to watch though.

Roussette · 14/11/2020 08:11

Agree on the ridiculous empty bed. Surely they could've stuck a pillow under the covers and a wig on top!
I found it very distracting with just a flat bed and a soft toy on it.

I agree... the Gail bit, don't be nice to me, I'll cry. And although Leanna was acting well, I just found the nastiness and anger to everyone around her hard to take, but who knows how anyone would be in that situation, I do get that.

I found Steve's acting good. The slow dawning on him that he needs to let Oliver go..
