New ’un.

Whose turn on the storyline merry-go-round will it be this week?

What is this helpline that Paul is involved with?

Akire · 18/11/2020 22:53

Todd is evil isn’t he, goady Sean to get more sellers and dangling Paul. To be fair they would get more story lines out of running a halfway house.

Ray has some plan to put Hotel over Factory, Gails and Sally’s. We don’t know why this is such a brilliant plan yet. Seems silly as we all know they not going to flatten the set and build hotel.

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 18/11/2020 22:59

Why was Faye planning on handing out a load of CVs to get a job? Do companies still accept them like that? They don't seem to here. You have to apply online, or upload your cv online and hope they find you.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 18/11/2020 23:05

Also, why has no one thought it odd that Ray has a whole chain of hotels and restaurants, yet spends his entire time at one small (and not exactly flagship) venue? It’s the toughest time the hospitality industry has ever faced - yet he’s always sat in the bistro back office twiddling his thumbs.

Yes I wondered what career she was planning? Did she go to college even? I’m sorry but these days unlikely to get anything more than mim wage like everyone else on the street!

Samaritans I think.
Akire · 18/11/2020 23:29

No it’s a childabuse line, he mentioned taking to kids and adults. It’s great thing to do but it’s not his employers responsibility to accept he will do zero or rubbish shift the next day either. He can’t be that broke, Billy must earn fair amount especially with new job promotion and no housing costs. It doesn’t matter what job you do everyone seems permeantly broke. But rich enough for pub, cafe etc etc.

eddiemairswife · 18/11/2020 23:41

Where does Billy live? Some time ago he wasn't allowed to live in the vicarage, because he was in a sexual relationship with a man; have the rules changed, or are archdeacons a special case?
Did Paul have any training for the helpline? I would think that would of prime importance.

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 19/11/2020 00:05

Im not sure how much CofE Vicars earn tbh. Google suggests 'up to' 27k. Sometimes Churches have a Vicarage, some don't although I think they get some kind of housing allowance instead.

My friend was a deacon for a Methodist Church and she was earning about 12k and had a small 2 bed terrace included.

I assume Billy's promotion would come with a pay rise. I'll have to try and do some digging amongst my Vicar friends Grin

I know that my church owned 2 houses, 2 very small bungalows which are rented very cheaply. Then one larger one. When the new Vicar came the house needed so much work it was deemed better value to buy a new house. He then left and the new new Vicar lives somewhere else entirely. Apparently the 2nd Vicarage was considered too big/luxurious for the role and I believe someone higher up in the organisation has it. (Or so I was told. So could be wrong.)

I do kind of agree with him though about him having a lovely large house when there are homeless people. Apparently Justin Welby is on nearly 200k per annum. I guess that's why people think the Church is a farce!

Sorry. Totally rambly. Just thinking aloud as it were.

MsMiaWallace · 19/11/2020 08:23

It was funny when Craig challenged Ray alone. Come on Craig, he can barely string a sentence together most of the time!

eggandonion · 19/11/2020 09:04

Craig should email the important police friend of Ray and cc Sally's important council friend. I don't know why he should do that. Its just my feeling.
New head Todd is a rascal, he loves a bit of drama.
I live in a town which has an old rectory, which was bought by the upmarket solicitors, as opposed to Adam and Imran place. There was a small school in the grounds which is leased to a private school. With all the lovely money they built a modern primary school and a very naice five bedroom rectory in private grounds. But retired rectors have to fend for themselves a bit. The current rector is a canon, and I vaguely know an arch deacon in a very scenic spot, he's very posh.

Akire · 19/11/2020 09:12

yes around here vicars on £22k but no rent. Paul could manage without work he was making out he was broke. What do they spend money on?? It’s tiny flat him living there doesn’t cost much more just food etc And it’s free childcare for invisible teen.

Deadringer · 19/11/2020 11:13

Wft would Sean keep hassling Gemma of all people to sell his crap, with four babies she doesn't have the time or the energy, and let's face it she doesn't have the people skills for sales. Ludicrous!

Ahorsecalledseptember · 19/11/2020 11:49

It’s never been a pre requisite of Christianity to give up all of your worldly belongings and live in a shack, in fairness.

Ahorsecalledseptember · 19/11/2020 11:51

It’s quite realistic though (given that obviously no one will have friends or relatives outside of the street Grin) in that MLMs do prey primarily upon young women and mums in particular.
Smallsteps88 · 19/11/2020 12:33

That is exactly the type of people all the MLMers target. They don’t need her to have people skills, they just need her to sign the contract she doesn’t understand committing her to A) buying their “kit” at £200 (or whatever) a pop and B) giving them a minimum amount of money every campaign. They tell her that she will easily meet the minimum by selling the products but they don’t tell her that if she doesn’t meet the minimum she has to pay a fine. What she’ll end up doing is buying the products herself each month to the value of the minimum just to avoid the fine. That’s why Sean is pushing so hard, he needs to meet his minimum. Sean thinks he’s a rep for the company. He isn’t. He’s a customer. He just doesn’t realise it.

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 19/11/2020 13:01

I've got to say I was a bit jealous of Carla last night 😂

Smallsteps88 · 19/11/2020 13:02

Me too! Grin

MsMiaWallace · 19/11/2020 13:20

I'm not a Carla fan at all. I think she's vile

This is exactly why my heart sank when my neighbour became a body shop rep a few weeks ago. I will NOT give money to people pushing MLM products.
Smallsteps88 · 19/11/2020 13:25

Yes I have a friend who has been sucked into both Avon and body shop. She’s quite vulnerable and anyone having more than a 3 minute conversation with her could tell but the bastards know they’re onto a sucker when they get her. I try to explain to her how these things work but she doesn’t understand the system, she thinks she’s just struggling to sell because of COVID/Xmas/whatever excuse people tell her. She can’t see that everyone else is aware of the scam and won’t ever be interested in buying.

Paul had training, there was lots of angst about it bringing up past issues for him. It was just after they found out wotsit was dead.
IHaveBrilloHair · 19/11/2020 14:19

Ray's voice is awful, I can't stand hearing it.

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 19/11/2020 16:33

Ray's voice is the male version of Carla's voice, but the accent is ramped up a bit!

desperatehousewife21 · 19/11/2020 16:41

Peter even manages to make a prison-grey sweater look sexy Wink
