Anyone watching?

OP posts:
AcornAutumn · 28/10/2020 23:07

I’ve just watched episode 5 and I’m confused

Is it just me that didn’t realise what happened to Peter? I thought it was in Hannah’s head.

LizzieMacQueen · 29/10/2020 14:14

Hang in there @AcornAutumn Episode 6 I think explains a lot.

I just came back to this thread because I'm starting on the haunting of hill house now. It's got the same actor that played Henry in it. He's the dad. Also, as a child he played Elliott in ET.

LizzieMacQueen · 29/10/2020 14:24

Wait, the mother is also an actor in both series. Right. I'll try and stop spotting these.

charliebear78 · 29/10/2020 14:31

@LizzieMacQueen It has several of the same actors in it.
Peter was one of the brothers,( can't remember his name)
Dani was Nell
And yes the Mother and father as you have already spotted!

LizzieMacQueen · 29/10/2020 14:34

That's not deliberate is it? Now the actress that was the original Lady of Bly manor has popped up.

PizzzaExpressWoking · 29/10/2020 14:58

I think they're copying American Horror Story, and the idea of an anthology series starring the same cast but each series has a different setting and the same actors play different characters.

There's a ton of elements of Bly Manor that are directly ripped off from AHS.

Thank you.

I’m such a plum....I didn’t realise Dani was the same actress!

I loved Hill House, though the last episodes weren’t as gripping s the first ones.

Rollergirl11 · 29/10/2020 15:52

Actors from Hill House that are in Bly Manor are:
Dad in HH is Uncle Henry in BM
Olivia (Mum) in HH is the narrator in BM
Nell in HH is Danni in BM
Luke in HH is Peter in BM
Theo in HH is Viola in BM

Mike Flanagan (the director) does like to use the sane actors. Carla Gugino and Henry Thomas are both also in a film called Geralds Game that he directs. And the actor who plays Theo/Viola is his wife.

AcornAutumn · 29/10/2020 21:02

I’ve watched episode 6

Not sure what I think of this tbh.

LizzieMacQueen · 29/10/2020 21:37

@AcornAutumn You're closer to the end - stick with it - though I'll admit the black & white episode, (you'll know when you see it) is a little slow.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 29/10/2020 21:46

Found 7 bit hard to get through but 8...for some reason got to me. Then came 9! The ending song didn't help! Same with Haunting of Hill House the song and the scenes during episode 10..when he takes back his wife to the house and she passes and sees her daughter again Sad its the music lol

Wow, I found episode 6 slow!

It’s the anniversary of my dads death fast approaching so I’m going to stick with cosy TV for a week or so but will finish this.

It’s not got the gripping quality of Hill House, though the filming location is lovely. And I want a moonflower now!

AcornAutumn · 04/11/2020 12:50

Watching again

Slow and repetitive.

LizzieMacQueen · 04/11/2020 13:14

@AcornAutumn

Have you seen American Horror Story? That's a bit more 'edge of your seat'.

AcornAutumn · 04/11/2020 19:26

No I haven’t...Is it gory? I can’t cope with blood and gore!

LizzieMacQueen · 04/11/2020 19:35

Yes it is a bit gory (spoiler alert - people die).

AcornAutumn · 04/11/2020 19:49

Lizzie, love the spoiler alert! 😂

If the black and white episode is even slower, I’ll skip the rest I think.

A shame as it started so well.

AcornAutumn · 04/11/2020 22:16

Oh, I did laugh about Owen and the atomisation of gluten meaning lunch was late.

AcornAutumn · 07/11/2020 20:06

are spoilers allowed on this thread?

I cba watching the rest but I am wondering who the boy with no face is. Or who he is meant to be.

charliebear78 · 08/11/2020 18:38

He was a child that Viola found in bed when she went on her wanderings through the house, she picked him up and carried him into the pond..
TBH it was shit, started well and went downhill.

Pickypolly · 08/11/2020 18:42

I was bitterly disappointed at this and furious that the makers wasted my time with such drivel.
Absolute crap.
Weak storyline, predictable, disjointed, slow, utter rubbish.

That part of the ending of HIll House where she's reunited with her little girl and baby had me in floods Sad
copperoliver · 10/11/2020 22:15

Watched it was okay but not as good as Hill house. X

josbd · 13/11/2020 08:57

I was dealing with the excruciating accents until I heard,,,,,,,"gotten" ... after which I was waiting for "awesome".
