Old thread full, so here we go again.

Going back to the last point on the old thread, I agree that they’re writing well for Tracy now. She’s still got her hard side, but they’ve made her caring in a straight talking way, rather than just a full-on bitch.

I can hardly watch it at the moment. Leanne is too annoying to watch at all and while I was gripped by the whole Geoff abuser storyline it seems to have gone off the boil recently, and the Baileys are so dull I just can't bring myself to care. The Baileys scenes are when you go and make a cup of whatever, like the commercial break.

Akire · 06/10/2020 08:49

I wonder if Sam is child of someone on set and so is allowed with no other adult? Agree about the hospital issue, they haven’t explained even what treatment is and what outcome would be. Is it just been able to be stable on a ventilator? Or breath independently but little else?

I don’t see how selling business makes sense when they are all left with no income? Surely sell off one asset and maximise the others? Or second mortgage?

Wouldn’t Yasmin be able to put claim on house for legal fees? She owes outright? So Geoff can’t use all marriage assets for himself?

SharpLily · 06/10/2020 09:10

None of it makes any sense. Leanne's original phonecall with the miracle German doctor showed him saying that no commitments wouls be undertaken until he'd spoken to Oliver's doctors so there was no point in her lying to him and then feeling guilty as her was always going to find out, and why was she then surprised when he spoke to Oliver's doctors before planning his trip? As he'd always said he would do! She got annoyed that he'd apparently cancelled a trip he said he wouldn't be booking until taking that step. It's all very badly written. I am liking Tracy too, though. She's the voice of reason in this situation, which should be prime soap opera material but unfortunately is being so badly handled.

Smudgeis13 · 06/10/2020 09:16

Property values must be great in Weatherfield. I’d have thought you could sell the whole street and still be short of half a million.

Optimist1 · 06/10/2020 10:12

Tracy was great last night - speaking a great deal of sense to Steve in a very balanced way, then overstepping the mark and making reference to Amy's inheritance (just to prove she hadn't had a complete personality change).

I've been fast forwarding through their scenes for so long I didn't even know that was their surname!

Could I ask that you ask MNHQ to add 'No Spoilers' into the thread title please OP? Sorry to be a pain. It's just that I remember on a previous occasion an OP didn't add it into the title and someone posted a massive spoiler on the first page Sad

No problem - have just asked Smile

Just catching up as a couple of episodes behind but am I the only one who is highly sceptical of Sam actually being Nick's child?

I now remember loony Natasha from when she was in it years ago and she did everything possible to try and cling on to Nick!
Can't believe Nick would just buy into this without question bearing in mind her previous behaviour. I'd definitely want a DNA test! (Course if it does transpire he is NOT Nick's son then the usual excuse of' "You just assumed he was yours" will be used.😒

NO SPOILERS!!

(To be going on with Smile )

Thank you Smile
Roussette · 06/10/2020 12:30

Thanks for thread! Smile

I am actually liking the new Tracey. Steve was pretty nasty to her (I know he is beside himself with grief but still...)
I think Tracey could develop a strong character in Corrie that is worth developing, and god knows we need it!

I wonder if the likes of Ken, Rita and the older actors will actually ever come back.

Why do they need to sell 2 businesses, a shop and a house just to get Dr. Schnitzel over to see Oliver? Surely it's £70 on easyjet?!

StillCoughingandLaughing · 06/10/2020 12:30

It’s there - that was quick!

Hurrah!

excelledyourself · 06/10/2020 12:41

Yes, I don't understand this rush to sink themselves into total poverty before Dr Skitts even claps eyes on Oliver Confused

I genuinely don't believe anyone in real life would act that way. There's grief and false hope, and then there's complete recklessness.

BonnieTellyLass · 06/10/2020 12:54

Hi
Im new to this chat but long term invested corrie fan so do you mind if i get involved?

I do agree I thought it was ridiculous the selling off of all businesses to fund treatment
And also the reaction of leanne r.e the german dr not coming over it was never set in stone...

I feel alot of sympathy for the dr too, Its a tough job isnt it.

I havent seen last nights ill catch up tonight

Overall i feel that corrie is alot of "filler" at the minute... just pointlessly plodding along and no kick!!

Also on real life i wouldnt plan on having a social girly drink with ny ex partners new wife and if a friend suggested to her tagging along...chatting about her happy marriage when mine has just combusted id be miffed (sara and maria...)

JamieLeeCurtains · 06/10/2020 13:38

I can't see the point of the Leanne story. Seems to be very intrusive of the unusually high profile CG and AE cases from GOSH and Alder Hey, which were actually quite damaging for those paediatric departments and their staff and the other families using those facilities.

The last thing we need during Covid-19 is for more of that narrative surfacing through the lens of a struggling soap.

Maybe the writers think they're exploring what drives a parent to desperate measures, but it's a dangerous game to play when the programme risks upsetting all the parents of very ill children who DON'T behave like Leanne (the majority).

Sorry to be so serious but I'm a former child patient of Alder Hey, and I feel very protective of the vast majority of the parents, and the staff. I could say more about the wonderful services there and at other hospitals for parents, which Corrie writers don't seem to have heard of, but I'll stop now.

Absolutely, everyone's welcome, but no spoilers!

A spoiler is anything - including trailers - that hasn't actually been broadcast yet.

Guessing, speculating, and wild theories welcome.

Roussette · 06/10/2020 14:12

I'm full of wild theories, me!

Welcome Bonnie

desperatehousewife21 · 06/10/2020 14:26

The Baileys- arghhh I just can’t cope with the acting. Esp from the footballer son, it’s like he’s thinking in his head ‘when I get to this spot, I need to turn around and face brother’ then I say ‘oh I can stay if you want’ or whatever drivel he said. Honestly think my 10yo DS could do better.

I feel sorry for the doc too, I don’t think it helps that it’s Leanne portraying the mum in this situation. Her screechy voice is enough to send anyone over the edge.

PennyRoyal · 06/10/2020 15:02

Thanks for new thread, thought I'd lost you!

I assume the outcome of the Oliver story was planned a while ago (I don't know what is going to happen). Considering we're in the middle of the NHSs biggest battle in real life, I'm surprised they've not changed the storyline to be less unsympathetic to the Dr. Perhaps all will become more apparent!

Glad to see Eileen & Gail back. Hope we see Evelyn and Audrey home soon too. Ken & Rita can stay furloughed!

Rafflesway · 06/10/2020 17:17

Caught up now and I actually cheered Tracy saying she wasn't selling the flower shop.

She spoke so.much sense to Steve - I wonder if any of it sunk in.

Kate Ford is fast emerging as the best Corrie actor at present. Excellent, believable performance in the last episode.

Smallsteps88 · 06/10/2020 17:21

Place marking and agreeing with all comments here!

Tracey= ace(y)

Oliver story= poorly timed

Lots of filler

Sarah/maria drinks were odd. Sarah just wouldn’t go.
