Old thread full, so here we go again.

Going back to the last point on the old thread, I agree that they’re writing well for Tracy now. She’s still got her hard side, but they’ve made her caring in a straight talking way, rather than just a full-on bitch.

I am too a mum of a child who has spent alot of time in childrens hosp mainly BCH as my DD has has open heart surgery....me and dh were actually saying we trusted the judgement of the consultants implicitly....but then again prognosis was good.... just seen the mediation scenes think they were quite good

eatsleepread · 06/10/2020 20:22

Leanne is just awful ... at the best of times, but never more so than now! I wonder if the actress uses that scowly expression in real life.
Agree with the Bailey family being dreadful actors.
The Geoff story is dragging, and yet it was so well executed at the time. Corrie has let itself down with this.
I can't say as I miss all the oldies particularly, and hadn't really noticed their absence. I appreciate this won't be a popular view!
Hope Nick's son will calm down a bit, and not come across as annoyingly precocious.

Akire · 06/10/2020 20:56

What upset me most was them wearing gloves with Oliver. That was the worse bit. Good for Tracey for standing up to him. By the time they fight and if they did win they would have no money left for treatment.

Geoff will ring up and cancel the wedding or some such no doubt.

BenoneBeauty · 06/10/2020 22:14

I enjoyed last nights too. Thought Tracy was great and hope they keep up decent writing.

Why do they need to sell 2 businesses, a shop and a house just to get Dr. Schnitzel over to see Oliver? Surely it's £70 on easyjet?!

Dr Schnitzel? That’s a very derogatory appellation. I’m hoping that was a typo.

Lighten up Dog we have nick names for lots of characters on Corrie, this thread is a fun thread in dark times we don’t need to be policed thanks very much.

ZaraCarmichaelshighheels · 07/10/2020 01:47

I really don’t give two hoots about Paul and the vicar, I zone out when they appear and just marvel at the Christmas tree wallpaper, they really don’t make a believable couple at all.

Roussette · 07/10/2020 07:21

The vicar has had more partners than hot dinners, I am sure his elderly parishioners would be very sniffy! Agree not a believable couple in the slightest

What a shame they brought Eileen back for such a weak storyline... the Todd thing. (is it actually a thing? More like a damp squib) I wonder if it's a one off or Eileen is here to stay.

It's Billy's bag that makes me not want to watch their scenes

What's he got in that bag? What does he do all week? He's always hanging around the street, where exactly is his parish? We saw him working on his sermon the other day, but surely that doesn't take a week! I know he gets the odd phone call "ah, poor Mrs so-and-so, I need to pop round", but he never travels very far. No meetings with The Bishop anymore!

Smallsteps88 · 07/10/2020 10:04

It’s funny they have a vicar but no church in weatherfield. None of the residents ever talk about going to church. Even the weddings they have are in registry offices or hotels or the bistro.

eddiemairswife · 07/10/2020 10:16

Emily used to go to church. I can't remember where she's supposed to be. The actress went on a break over a year ago.

Smallsteps88 · 07/10/2020 10:46

Is she staying with her cousin or niece?

He even had it with him when they were waiting for Todd to show up for the money.
God knows what he does, haha! Just realised what I wrote

bigdinolittledino · 07/10/2020 11:30

@Smallsteps88
I think she is in Peru with Spyder. I'm sure they did a video call one episode with her in.

Smallsteps88 · 07/10/2020 11:33

Oh I missed that! That would be nice to see Emily!

I know a real life vicar who makes Billy look like the Virgin Mary. He shagged his way round the parish.Hmm

The other real life vicars I know are always really busy (working not shagging - well maybe a bit of both Grin). But they have all kinds of community based work, school based work etc. Maybe slightly less currently. Billy doesn't appear to have a church, let alone a school to look after!

Roussette · 07/10/2020 12:31

It almost makes you think that Billy imagines he's a vicar. And he isn't!

pigeonsfeather · 07/10/2020 12:35

Does anyone else feel like the Oliver storyline is an attempt to reenact the Charlie Gard debate that happened I think three years ago? That was awful, and so is this storyline. Apart from anything else, it’s so obvious there is no child actually present in the scenes!

Roussette · 07/10/2020 12:42

Totally agree pigeons

I hate it. Because of the Charlie Gard story which was so upsetting and because, in the midst of a pandemic, do we really need to show someone bellowing continually at NHS staff?

But there probably are people bellowing at NHS staff even during covid. So at least it's realistic in that sense.

pigeonsfeather · 07/10/2020 13:06

I know I should feel just awful for Leanne and Steve, but I don’t. Probably because they barely seemed to notice Oliver before he became ill!
