Old thread full, so here we go again.

Going back to the last point on the old thread, I agree that they’re writing well for Tracy now. She’s still got her hard side, but they’ve made her caring in a straight talking way, rather than just a full-on bitch.

Always the same in soaps, whenever a big, life-changing secret is revealed... (not quoted verbatim, just the gist...)
Leanne: "Why didn't you tell me?"
Nick: "I thought you already had enough on your plate. Besides, I'm telling you now, aren't I? "
Leanne: "It's for me to decide if I can deal with it."
Ten minutes later: "I can't deal with this. I hate you."

I think the problem with Leanne is that there is never any sort of resolution, even a minor one. It’s an endless circle of Leanne screaming at the doctor, the doctor being so patient and understanding, Leanne continues to scream ...

I saw that Charlie Gard’s parents have had a subsequent son named Oliver Of course, the writers at coronation street couldn’t have known this as he is some years younger than Oliver on-screen, but gosh it’s uncomfortable. I have said on another thread that I have no objection whatsoever to soaps tackling controversial and hard hitting storylines but this one isn’t general, it’s specific.

The problem is that so many responses seem to go down the “well this is what any parent would do” but that just isn’t the case. I’m not saying I don’t understand desperation but the fact is that most parents do accept medical diagnosis - that isn’t the same as being happy about it obviously - but my worry is that if I was watching that I’d be wondering if I should have done more, although I don’t think being abusive towards medical staff is the way forwards!

That doctor has shown the patience of Job with Leanne. I think she would be well within her rights to refuse to speak to her alone by now.

Isn't Leanne meant to be Simon's mother? He seems to have been forgotten. Is he at college now?

I know Simon's much older and nothing takes away the pain of losing Oliver, but I thought it was an odd thing to say.

She could have been a bit more specific about watching a child grow up or something.

I thought it was sweet of Gail to help get the house ready for Shona to move back in but was anyone else thinking maybe she should help fill in the enormous hole in the back garden first?

Especially if Shona goes bouncing on that trampoline again!

Sinkhole = forgotten storyline and as the writers are obviously reading this thread, it will be brought up in the next few weeks as they made a mistake forgetting it!

Watched episode 5 of All Creatures Great And Small last night, and there was Natasha playing a grumpy middle aged Yorkshire lady with a headscarf on!

That headscarf threw me so much, I had to wait for the credits to roll to place her.
Do people really leave their keys under a plant pot these days? Not that there haven't been times when that would have been handy, but still.

I thought Sally looked really lovely on her wedding day. It would be nice if they let Tim and Sally be happy after all the bigamy nonsense.

I think she died and then Simon came to live with his Dad. And then Leanne adopted him. I think

I think Simon's mum was Lucy, a florist, who went to Australia but died out there. His grandfather, Anthony Valentine, brought him back to Weatherfield and gave him to Peter, but had no further contact. I may have remembered this incorrectly.

Yes, I think that's right about Lucy. Peter had an affair with her when he was with Shelley, then married both of them
