Thanks to MissMarplesHandbag for the "Just the one . . . "inspiration for the thread title, and to whichever wonderful soul suggested "The Numbfaces" as a description for his harem.

@brittanyfairies

I love these threads, thank you all for making me laugh.

I did watch to the end of the series. I watched the last episode and announced to the family that's it I'm no longer watching this shit... that was 2 days ago and now I'm on episode 5 of season 6. What is wrong with me? 🤣🤣

I started season 6 last night. Finally went to bed at 3am. Bit stupid as not finished 5 yet and 1st episode gives a spoiler 😑 Doh!

Bloody brilliant though. Think I'm on wedding no 5. Will watch one more today and then stop. Bloody obsessed here!

happinessischocolate · 29/08/2020 22:20

Or perhaps Troy with Alycia - I do wonder if we will get an update on her, I did really like her.

Also, Justin and Gabrielle are close in age and both parents, I wonder if they would have been a better match?

AND in fact Carly might have been a better match for Ryan.

I do feel we could probably do better than the experts!*

No no no Alycia should have been with Ryan. Although Carly is quite an inspired idea.

I think the experts select the people and match them up, and then the producers unmatch everyone and the experts have to deal with it 😂 either that or the experts really are just shit.

Me and DH have decided that Blair's voice sounds like a creaky door in a horror film.

The woman needs some WD40!

You know what I really want to understand is how they are managing to make people stick to the "two votes for leave or you stay in" rule - last season it didn't really come up - they kind of let them change their mind (I'm thinking NP John and Cheryl too I think were just allowed to leave) but in this series it seems like they've got a proper hold on them to make Ryan and jo stay an extra week.... tho Matt was allowed to walk away and Tracey seemed to be given the option too.... I wonder if you forfeit all the money so far rather than just the $200 a day for that week? Or maybe it's a bonus if you stay until you properly vote out? Anyone who's been googling got any idea? I don't know why it's bugging me so much but I think it's because so many of them are so clearly miserable and it would have to be a massive incentive for me to stay a day with Troy let alone 3 weeks!!

Colouringaddict · 30/08/2020 00:43

Forgive me ladies, I have sinned and watched the dinner party and now I can’t control myself and will watch the commitment ceremony too! Sorry but Dean made me do it, I am entirely innocent, after all I am just here for me

I agree, there must be a massive financial forfeit for Ryan to be willing to stay when he's so unhappy. Matt may have been willing to take the forfeit. And they always knew Tracey would stay because of the forfeit, so they could give her the option to talk about leaving knowing full well she wouldn't.

There's probably a bonus aswell for each week that you stay, otherwise why would you even bother with Justin or Troy

bibliomania · 30/08/2020 07:17

Has to be the finances, drama, You couldn't legally force them to stay if they really wanted to walk away and were willing to forfeit the money.

bibliomania · 30/08/2020 07:19

I can imagine there's probably a bit of emotional manipulation from the producers to encourage them to stay. And you may not want to piss them off, given how they can edit you.

Egghead68 · 30/08/2020 08:27

@hoxtonbabe sadly I have watched series 3,4,5 and most of 6! I do actually have a life (usually) and a full-time job, honest!

I think series 5 is the best one.

Verdita73 · 30/08/2020 08:37

I imagine Davina will vote to stay just to annoy Ryan and to give herself more time to play Lady Macbeth . Ryan would probably be willing to forfeit anything and everything and just leave .

SillyCow6 · 30/08/2020 08:51

I am starting to get the feeling that Troy comes from a well to do family and that wasn't really his own flat.

  • the inability to do very basic cooking, cos he has a maid and cook etc normally
  • the bumbling buffoons laugh, like an old toff type
  • the fear upsetting 'grandmother' if he cut his hair too short
  • the accent sounds quite posh
I reckon either his family is posh but broke, or his grandmother has threatened to cut him off from the family fortune unless he finds a wife but they dont want to be involved in the programme, hence we havent seen them during his home stay, and is borrowing the gardeners flat to make him look more "normal"

Oh maybe Im not up to date - have they shown the dinner party after the DaviNAH and DeaNO debacle?

Eaumyword · 30/08/2020 09:11

Have I missed an episode? Ryan and Davina have left already, or is it just speculation? My guess is that Ryan will vote to leave and Davina will vote to stay for more airtime.

LarkDescending · 30/08/2020 09:11

I think Schadenfreude may be ahead of the thread!

FuzzyPuffling · 30/08/2020 09:20

SPOILER ALERT. Nee nah nee nah...! 🚨🚨🚨🚨

hoxtonbabe · 30/08/2020 09:26

@FuzzyPuffling

I think you need to put that at the beginning of this page, lol

I’m starting to think the exact opposite. I think he’s trying to pretend to be something he’s not & getting it wrong over and over again. I was cringing when he was showing (the very unpleasant ) Ashley around his flat - ‘here are my family portraits‘ - a couple of tiny photo canvases on the wall. ‘Here is some great art’ - prints from a charity shop. ‘Here is my work area’ - my laptop is on a table. And why would he ask how she wants her eggs if he has never cooked or eaten any sort of egg? He would come across so much more likeable if he’d said ‘I’ve got eggs but I’m not good in the kitchen so I don’t know how to cook them. Hang on while I google it‘. He’s so deep in a complicated lie he’s lost touch with normality.

And @happinessischocolate, much as I love your username I have to disagree with you. Gabrielle is a goddess with metaphorical balls of steel. She deserves so much better than Justin.

hoxtonbabe · 30/08/2020 09:44

@NowYouListenToMeFella (every time I see your username I always chuckle. I just find it so hilarious)
@Egghead68

I was watching the USA Gogglebox about 6 weeks ago and they showed a clip of what I can only assume is season 7... that seemed as trashy and car crash as this one, so naturally I will be hooked on that one soon enough, lol

It’s clearly all DeaNO’s fault Grin

I agree that Ryan will write Leave and DaviNA will go for stay, because she has no respect for what he wants at all.

I also wonder if the contracts are a bit tighter this time and that’s why they’re respecting the leave/stay rule. There must be some kind of financial consequence to breaking it without permission this series. There’s no way Ryan would be staying if he didn’t have to.

MrsBrunch · 30/08/2020 10:40

I have been lurking and following these threads, thanks all. Just came on to say I am watching ahead and episode 23 - Oh. My. God. Grin

Can't wait for you guys to catch up.

SpanishFly · 30/08/2020 10:46

I've watched the dinner party episode too. I think ill just continue watching ahead as it's helping to get me through a very dark place. I just wish I could discuss the episode properly!

hoxtonbabe · 30/08/2020 11:02

@SpanishFly

It’s been suggested up thread to start a thread for those of us that have watched it all.

I had to get my discussion fix with egghead68 as the more you watch the more impossible it becomes to keep all that you have seen to yourself 😂.

Thank you @Egghead68 for helping me as my MAFS therapist and helping me through my desperate time of need, lol

SpanishFly · 30/08/2020 11:06

I'd love to - I haven't watched them all, though, so will have to wait to join another thread so I don't see spoilers :)

At this stage in the last series, I googled to see who had lasted, and I'm desperate to see if anyone in the series survives as a couple (doubtful), but it kind of spoiled my enjoyment last time, when I knew the outcomes

Delighted with myself for being slightly amusing 😃

Good god SchadenfreudePersonified are you ahead of us? Full name used like my mother did when I was bold.

Undertaking another outdoors activity today. Kayaking, not as 'Jesus Christ' uttering inducing as the mountain biking I'd say. However we are still risky people and going despite the no swim notice currently in place.

Hopefully I won't have dissolved after falling in and see what Schaden is talking about.
