Ken's dressing gown!

PoloNeckKnickers · 31/07/2020 16:54

Thank God it wasn't his kimono!

x2boys · 31/07/2020 17:06

😂😂,poor Kelly and Ashley now the whole Street knows ,what a bastard Steve is Hmm

justthecat · 31/07/2020 17:13

I find Kelly and Ashley
Steve McDonald needs a slap, so he does.
Is this where Deirdre meets pilot John?

justthecat · 31/07/2020 17:14

That’s Kelly and Ashley cringey 😳

x2boys · 31/07/2020 17:19

Yes you wouldn't put them together as a couple, that suit Vicky was wearing in court was like something Margaret Thatcher would wear

x2boys · 31/07/2020 17:19

Would have worn even !

eggandonion · 31/07/2020 17:27

Aww wee Ashley and Kelly, and their romance. Don't be mean.
Vicky is 19... she looks 39.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 01/08/2020 12:41

That scene at the hairdresser’s was Phyllis’s last ever appearance Sad

x2boys · 01/08/2020 13:24

She has,nt been looking well in it for months 😥

eggandonion · 01/08/2020 19:04

She was a great character.

x2boys · 01/08/2020 20:43

She was a great character but not used enough imo, they could have done some better story lines with her and some of the older characters like Maud and Percy ,also under used imo .

Patch23042 · 02/08/2020 17:13

I’m struggling with the Maud character. She’s superbly written and acted, she’s fantastic.

However, she reminds me of a woman in my family who wouldn’t allow her daughter to have a life of her own. The daughter (my aunt by marriage, born in the 1940s like Maureen) was guilt-tripped constantly and my uncle (mum’s brother) was treated like an inconvenience, a nuisance. She refused to attend the wedding and made such a fuss about being “abandoned” afterwards, that they were forced to ask her to live with them, where she ruled the roost until her death in the 1990s. I was a kid in the 1980s and even I noticed how discourteous she was to him, often belittling him. If my aunt stood up for him she’d sulk or whinge. Poisonous woman.

Maureen and Reg should have married at 25ish when they first knew each other, and had children. They never stood a chance, really. He was wrong to cheat but he had no marriage to speak of. My uncle didn’t leave my aunt but he handled it by throwing himself into his career and his interests so was seldom home.

So, it’s a bit annoying watching Maud play “perfect mum” now. She wanted this!

SnakesOrLadders · 03/08/2020 17:23

Maud is a terrible mother so controlling but interesting character to watch.
I really like the character of Alec this time around when him and Bet were together fantastic but he’s good on his own too.
The scene the other day in the hotel with the owner and her ‘many nieces’ comments his facial expressions in that scene were brilliant. Great actor both comedic and dramatic.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 04/08/2020 10:26

I agree - he’s instantly slotted back in and knows exactly how to play the character. I’ve seen a lot of actors come back to soaps after a long break and it’s like they‘be forgotten who they’re playing.

eggandonion · 04/08/2020 10:56

I want to go to a travel agent. So much better than online!

TheTeaCosyofDoom · 04/08/2020 15:14

Go on, Jim, punch him.

justthecat · 04/08/2020 15:37

Well if it’s going down that road, go on Maureen, slap her one and kick her out of your shop !

StillCoughingandLaughing · 04/08/2020 18:25

It feels so weird watching Steve being so vile now that he’s the show’s resident loveable buffoon!

FromDespairToHere · 04/08/2020 19:05

I keep thinking that - he's still a cheat and a womaniser but loveable and funny as well.

thenightsky · 04/08/2020 19:25

I loved Maud calling Reg's new woman a 'trollop'. Grin

Trollop is a word I've not heard in years.

eggandonion · 04/08/2020 20:16

Steve was horrid.
I like the term fancy piece - it was more a Hilda Ogden era term of abuse.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 04/08/2020 20:54

‘Trollop’ is one of my favourite insults Grin

PoloNeckKnickers · 06/08/2020 06:28

Trollop is good but 'floozy' is better!

StillCoughingandLaughing · 06/08/2020 15:32

Becky is Chesney’s real-life sister Smile
