I’m not sure if there is a thread already, please direct me to it if there is!

It’s summer which means its the time of year I start musing about which celebs might be up for the glitter ball trophy this year! I was a bit worried we might not be getting a series this year but a quick google reassured me plans are in place.

So it looks like they are hoping for bubbles between the stars and professionals families, possibly weekly CV testing and temp checks. Hair, make up and costume to be done with PPE. Sounds like they could put on a fairly similar show to normal. No audience though, which will be weird. And I guess no gathering of contestants for the scores, which will be weird. Will the whole thing lack atmosphere?

Am kicking myself. Normally we apply for tickets for the live shows, but I assumed they wouldn't have a live audience this year due to covid, so we didn't bother opting in to the bbc audiences notifications email. So it turns out that they DID run a ballot again for a reduced number of tickets, and they plan to seat people in groups of four!

The odds of you getting tickets would have been minute though Goosey, so don’t beat yourself up. Event in a normal year they’re tiny.

I’ve applied but I’m not not quite sure what the rules are for the 4 person tables. In the incredibly unlikely scenario that I get tickets I might have to persuade my Strictly loving DSIL to pose as my wife.

Succumbed to the red top...so Neil's new girlfriend was in a relationship with another woman and perhaps still needs a visa?

Any date for when the live shows start? Or even a date for the pairing show?

Launch show recorded 12th October, broadcast 17th October.
First live show 24th October.

Halloween specials been cancelled! I know a lot of people will be overjoyed about that, but me and the DC love the halloween special. I'd rather have that than some of the other specials..

I'm surprised they have cancelled it considering Halloween is actually on the Saturday this year too

I wonder if they've ditched Halloween because it's too soon for that level of gimmicks?

Oh place marking. Thanks for the update on when Strictly starts - with all the world in such a state, I am looking forward to it more than ever this Autumn.

We always loved Halloween although I do think they have done it to death in the past 2 seasons so perhaps a reboot is good and this was a good opportunity to ditch it without saying why.

Maybe they’re cancelling Halloween because they want to minimise hair and makeup? On a non theme week they could probably get the pro dancers to do their own makeup, because they’ll have the experience from their competition days.

Of course! There is no way they'd manage the make up necessary for Halloween.

I think it is going to be live isn’t it? Apart from the launch show, the pro group numbers and the Sunday results show which are always pre-recorded.

I've just read that HRVY has apparently tested positive for Covid. It was in The Sun (via the Apple News app, honest!) so might just be nonsense.

Oh yes thanks Soup Of course, I'd forgotten him (no wonder , he didn't set the One Show alight that's for sure)... Won't be missed, by me anyway, but if he's in the bubble there'll possibly be a problem for everyone

From what I gather, they've been kept apart so far so it should all be OK. He was doing promotion at the BBC before the test but was "socially distanced" from Maisie Smith and Baron von Biscuits.
