Strictly 2020, Bubbles and no Bruno?

I’m not sure if there is a thread already, please direct me to it if there is!

It’s summer which means its the time of year I start musing about which celebs might be up for the glitter ball trophy this year! I was a bit worried we might not be getting a series this year but a quick google reassured me plans are in place.

So it looks like they are hoping for bubbles between the stars and professionals families, possibly weekly CV testing and temp checks. Hair, make up and costume to be done with PPE. Sounds like they could put on a fairly similar show to normal. No audience though, which will be weird. And I guess no gathering of contestants for the scores, which will be weird. Will the whole thing lack atmosphere?

I've just read about Neil being demoted. I'm perfectly happy with that because I think he's a twat, but each to their own Grin

Last night's programme was a bit of a car crash. Would have liked to have seen more dances from the earlier years. And why was Matt and Aliona's Austin Power's jive not included? A lot of it seemed to be.....let's focus on the current pros because they're the only ones we can get on the programme, so we'll just focus on their dances Hmm
Always a joy to see the Rev though Grin

TheDecencyToChangeTheSheets · 20/09/2020 16:19

Poor Neil - that must sting. It isn't as if he didn't get far with Alex, she came 5th.

The focus last night did seem heavily weighted towards latter series. They had 10 years to choose from. We could have done a better job.

covetingthepreciousthings · 20/09/2020 17:44

Has it been confirmed about Neil? I'm seeing a lot of talk about it.. I really hope it's not true, I loved some of his routines with Alex, and considering she was a non dancer I think he did a great job. I'd love to see him with a ringer.

kazzaD66 · 20/09/2020 17:58

The BBC are running a vote for your favourite Strictly routine, to be included in the Christmas show. Link on the BBC homepage, for those that haven't seen it. Can't believe Harry Judd's quickstep isn't there though.

gingercat02 · 21/09/2020 12:04

These "best of" shows are just cheap fillers as the series is shorter than normal. I just had it on in the background.
Our scouts did the popcorn thing with their neckers, the kids loved it and the finished video was brilliant

kazzaD66 · 21/09/2020 12:45

Yes! My DS is now a Young Leader at Scouts and they did the same thing with the neckerchief back in the summer Grin

ppeatfruit · 21/09/2020 14:18

Yes coveting I agree about Neil , he's a gifted dancer and was a good partner for Alex. Was she really a non dancer though? (suspicious emoji)

Figgygal · 21/09/2020 18:28

I hadn’t heard about monks seal what shame some really good memories revisited just there

I agree with Neil I can see why people might not warm to him but he is a fantastic choreographer and dancer they’ve got to reduce the number of pros I get it but with having lost AJ and Kevin to that have to be Neil? Bet Gorka will get a partner this year after his alleged sulking last year

Very disappointed to hear the sat show was rubbish was going to watch it with ds 8 he loves strictly

mogloveseggs · 22/09/2020 19:30

@SequinsandStiIettos

Wordpress were going to charge him 15 dullars a month for hosting with polls - this series was to be his last hurrah in any case and that was the final straw along with it being a different kind of series cos of corona.
That's a shame. I didn't always read them but the descriptions were fab and spot on every time!
AIwaysThereMoonah · 22/09/2020 20:13

Yes, he was able to make me cry laughing. You can follow him on twitter though under Chris Rubery. He's currently voting for Aston's cha cha cha to win most memorable moment, I assume as a protest for not including much ballroom. Or in keeping with that particular theme, he is trolling the beeb Grin

ppeatfruit · 23/09/2020 09:21

It was entirely suitable for an 8 yr. old Figgy Though why that should be the case I don't know!! He'll adore it!!!!

SequinsandStiIettos · 23/09/2020 16:19
for any DWTS fans (it will get taken down sharpish so watch it while ye can!)
SequinsandStiIettos · 23/09/2020 16:24

link above has usual drop-outs to avoid detention etc the official DWTS yt channel has the individual dances in better quality but without judges

SequinsandStiIettos · 26/09/2020 18:05

8.15pm tonight. What is your best of Blackpool?

Top of my head - Anita and Gleb's paso, Susanna and Kev's paso, LeastWorstMemberOfBlue and Kristina's AT (yes I know it's Simon but that moniker still makes me laugh), Jay's salsa and Kellie's QS.

I am guessing they will show Stacey's stick of rock, Ashley's fishnchips, Karim's claw crane and Chris's roller coaster.

To balance that, here's Ali.

mogloveseggs · 26/09/2020 18:29

Was that the gleb special?

kazzaD66 · 26/09/2020 19:26

Matt and Aliona's samba was good

Pearsapiece · 26/09/2020 21:00

This is better than last weeks!

Gooseysgirl · 27/09/2020 00:44

Well that was way better than last week's offering! Lots more routines and less of the zoom commentary and shenanigans. I was disappointed not to see Denise Van Outen's Blackpool routine in there. Loved the focus on group dances!

moglovesquotes · 27/09/2020 08:44

I quite enjoyed it this week!

ppeatfruit · 27/09/2020 08:59

Oh good, I came in late to see some of the split screens which annoy me somewhat, but they did show that waltz in full with all the 10s!

I'll watch the whole recording today or whenever.

Figgygal · 27/09/2020 21:57

Even my 8yo couldn’t watch it last week he was getting so annoyed by all the fast cuts and lack of actual footage

EvilRingahBitch · 27/09/2020 23:21

Ghastly Redtop Gossip Warning please skip if you are too high minded to get involved

The red tops are all over a story that Neil Jones’ brand new girlfriend has been grassed up to the Home Office by her previous fiancée because she was here on an engagement visa but bailed on the marriage to run off with Neil and switch to a student visa and possibly also marry Neil in a bit of a hurry.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 28/09/2020 02:28

I wasn't pleased that he was back to being a backing dancer, because he did well with Alex, and he has probably the best competitive results out of all of the current pros. And he's English and not 'exotic' in any way (I do think that sometimes the pro men especially are quite hard for younger dancers to relate to).

But having seen that news article, it would overshadow whichever poor celeb he was paired with, so I think it's for the best. There are probably a few BBC people breathing a sigh of relief that they made that decision!

ppeatfruit · 28/09/2020 09:16

Figgy your son sounds very discerning! So if they weren't making that show for (admittedly intelligent) 8 yr. olds I wonder who they think has such short attention spans?

The Blackpool one was better. That's true. But the split screens ruined it a bit for me, after all ,great if it was me or my relations doing their dancing in their homes. Grin But the majority of their viewers would not have had that honour!

moglovesquotes · 28/09/2020 10:44

Bit sad Nadiya hasn't a partner this year.
The Neil relationship sounds very iffy.
