Strictly 2020, Bubbles and no Bruno?

I’m not sure if there is a thread already, please direct me to it if there is!

It’s summer which means its the time of year I start musing about which celebs might be up for the glitter ball trophy this year! I was a bit worried we might not be getting a series this year but a quick google reassured me plans are in place.

So it looks like they are hoping for bubbles between the stars and professionals families, possibly weekly CV testing and temp checks. Hair, make up and costume to be done with PPE. Sounds like they could put on a fairly similar show to normal. No audience though, which will be weird. And I guess no gathering of contestants for the scores, which will be weird. Will the whole thing lack atmosphere?

I’m finding it irritating too Mog. Just very brief clips of most dances.

This is awful! Just seems thrown together. I'm really disappointed. I'd have liked some full dances but by the time I've figured out who's in the clip, it's gone

I do agree I'd have like more full dances and less talking.

I've just spent a good minute and a half watching the pros pass popcorn between each other....

Gah come on strictly you can do so much better than this!

The talking is grating now, I wish they'd show more of the actual best bits. It's got a bit of an It takes 2 than an actual strictly show thing about it.

I agree about the clips rather than the full dances being awful!
They gave an award for the best pro dance and didn't show it in full!

Sounds like the reviews are in: Fifty shades of meh. It is similar format to what I was expecting tbh but more frenetic. Each section is Gone in Sixty Seconds Aw bless I love Reverend Richard Coles - he emailed me back once. Bruno you big liar - you use any excuse to fall off your chair

It's been feel good which is what I like from my Saturday night TV and it's got me excited for the new series. It's also reminded how much I like Anton.

I've enjoyed it BUT completely agree that there was far too much shitalk and not enough dancing. 😂 at Bruno's blue budgie smugglers are the end though

Why would I want to hear Craig’s put downs ? Just put on the dances BBC it’s not rocket science! How could they misjudge this so badly?

Wordpress were going to charge him 15 dullars a month for hosting with polls - this series was to be his last hurrah in any case and that was the final straw along with it being a different kind of series cos of corona.

I was really disappointed and, for some reason, in the middle I only saw shots of walls, plants and slightly out of focus stuff, which didn't impress at all.
What I would love to see, is a qualified introduction/explanation to each dance - so before any are performed. A little bit of the history of the dance, steps to watch for, that kind of thing. I think that would engage audiences even more.
Being a miserable old sod (who happens to have a silver medal in ballroom and Latin), I do not like the heavy emphasis on the upper body, when most of the dancing is actually done with your feet (and legs).
I certainly did not want to see Craig and Bruno's underpants!

Me too Fraught It was thrown together with very little thought imo. Much to much going on which was not of importance. yes I agree with some pps. too much talking not enough proper dancing. Why didn't they show the whole of the La la Land dance rather than a 'train ride through backstage'?

Yes Jay's jive was the bloody best, nice to see THAT in it's entirety.

If this had come out a month or two after lockdown had started, I'd have been quite impressed. A local school did the "popcorn passing" but with toilet roll and sports equipment (serving/drop kicking/teeing off with it) in mid-April and I thought it looked clever, but now it's not that novel.

I quite liked the dances where people had filmed themselves and I didn't mind one or two of the filler bits (I thought Tess and Claudia's Love Actually bit was fun) but would have preferred more full dances.

(Also, how did Aljaž win "most dapper dancer"?! They must have a very odd definition of dapper.)

Was it supposed to be a "joke" do you think Polka ? I keep forgetting that Strictly is meant to be a 'family' show. Just showing the children doing their sweet 'copycat' dances bit would've been enough

Maybe, I admit I was ironing for the first bit so might have missed a few bits!

I've just seen that Neil isn't getting a partner this year, which I think is a shame.
