I’m not sure if there is a thread already, please direct me to it if there is!

It’s summer which means its the time of year I start musing about which celebs might be up for the glitter ball trophy this year! I was a bit worried we might not be getting a series this year but a quick google reassured me plans are in place.

So it looks like they are hoping for bubbles between the stars and professionals families, possibly weekly CV testing and temp checks. Hair, make up and costume to be done with PPE. Sounds like they could put on a fairly similar show to normal. No audience though, which will be weird. And I guess no gathering of contestants for the scores, which will be weird. Will the whole thing lack atmosphere?

Are they going to be able to do lifts? They've been fairly vague about how this is all going to work with social distancing. Are the partnerships going to be in "bubbles" together?

covetingthepreciousthings · 02/09/2020 11:28

Thanks coveting What's his day job? Or is he a gentleman of leisure (as they used to call heirs to fortunes who just lived off their expectations!!)

He has his own sweetie business- Candy Kittens - vegan and very yummy, though a bit on the expensive side.
He was (is?) on Made In Chelsea too. I only know him from his appearances on different panel shows over the years.

I would hope so, and hope they aren't expected to socially distance, can't see how that would work in advance partnership with all the hours of training ?!

Mrsjayy · 02/09/2020 11:30

Hi all Glitterball they are announcing them so fast I can't keep up , Nicola Adams will be partnered with Karen ill bet my place on the thread on it!

SoupDragon · 02/09/2020 11:32

I agree. It was kind of implied though.

covetingthepreciousthings · 02/09/2020 11:33

Is Clara Amfo a ringer? I've just seen a comment on a Facebook post saying previously she (Clara) had posted a picture with all her trophies (presumably dance?!) saying something like 'and this is why I won't be doing strictly' ?

It actually rings a bell as I'm sure I remember seeing something similar, but can't find anymore about her previous dance experience.

SimonJT · 02/09/2020 11:58

We have had a paralympian for the last two years, I wonder if that will continue. Its a shame Will had to leave last year, my boyfriend has the same condition so it was good to see it respented.

Mrsjayy · 02/09/2020 12:07

3 paralympians but yes hopefully it continues I used to do wheelchair dancing many moons ago so it would be great to see a wheelchair user take part,

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 02/09/2020 12:15

Would you rather see duo or combi Mrsjayy? Although thinking about it I don't know if any there are competitive pro wheelchair ballroom dancers?

Mrsjayy · 02/09/2020 12:21

You can do it as a duo as well as a team i did both the partners were local dancers

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 02/09/2020 12:33

Sorry, I might have been wrong with my names. I thought there was duo (two chairs) or combi (chair and standing partner) but perhaps they're not called that?

I was trying to ask whether you'd like to see chair/chair or chair/standing.

Mrsjayy · 02/09/2020 12:41

Oh right sorry yes chair/standing chair/chair would be trickier.i don't know of any professionals either.

FuzzyPuffling · 02/09/2020 16:09

Is Caroline Q this years "Oldie"? (For want of a better word - she's the same age as me)

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 02/09/2020 16:37

Maybe. I think they'll be a bit wary about anybody 70+ this year.

SerenDippitty · 02/09/2020 17:51

@Walkingtheplank

Same sex couple?

Wouldn't it be refreshing if same-sex meant 2 women?

Yes - Steph McGovern would be great!
Mrsjayy · 02/09/2020 19:53

It is going to be 2, women Nicola Adams the boxer is going to be partnered with a female professional.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 02/09/2020 21:41

Yes it damn well would!
SoupDragon · 02/09/2020 23:25

Why "would" it be refreshing when it is two women?

InFiveMins · 02/09/2020 23:36

So the full line up has been leaked by The Sun, except an unnamed YouTuber. I know I'm being really negative, but I really dislike the lineup this year. Nobody exciting, nobody I'm really looking forward to seeing. Disappointed.

GIitterySequinBoobTube · 03/09/2020 00:20

Line-up looks okay to me - am only surprised a little that there aren't a few more household names, given the Covid-19 effect on careers.
I just had a go at pairing up and there's reasonable parity there tbf.
The only thing making it hard to predict is which 3 women are to be benched? If Nancy is still in the waiting game then she's one but which other two become reserves? Nadija and Luba really deserve a shot this year due to the duffers they had last year and Dianne wuz robbed/robbed herself with that cha cha.
All the men, bar Oti's DH, get a partner which is fair enough. But 3 women sitting out makes it harder to predict as Oti, for me, is over-exposed but a fan favourite. Karen worked hard last year, cannot see that being rewarded with the bench. I hated Katya's choreo last year but she brought Mike further forward than anticipated. Janette was unlucky.
I assume it will go on chemistry, sleb requests and heights unless they go on last in, first out and Luba/one of Amy, Nad, Di get relegated. Nancy might know she is still sub, nonetheless at least 2 of the female pros are going to have to suck it up.

Yes me too, I'm looking forward to Bill Bailey the most. I was hoping for some bigger names. But would there have been issues with quarentine? Are celebs having to quarentine? Just wonder if that affected it this year, as I imagine it would be hard for family people to spend so much time away from their families?

I was really hoping for Joe Wickes or even Stacey Solomon this year as I know she has been strongly rumoured.

EvilRingahBitch · 03/09/2020 10:39

I’m pretty pleased with the lineup tbh. Bill and Caroline are great signings and have come out of the blue, not “the usual suspects” at all. Nicola Adams is a really good name as well who I’ll be excited to see in a same sex pair.
The others range from OK to “who he?” but then that’s always the way every year.

Mind you, one of the people from the Sun’s leaked list is going to have a tough job to win me over.

Mrsjayy · 03/09/2020 10:54

Line up isn't much different from any other years we have the oh him/her who are theys we have a ringer and the egotistical you tuber !

Mrsjayy · 03/09/2020 10:56

And a paralympian.

IslaMann · 03/09/2020 11:36

Baron biscuits confirmed.
