We have been discussing the series Our Girl since the first one aired in 2014 and are now on number 56! Occasionally between discussions of Our Girl, we watch the 1990s series of Soldier Soldier.

Georgie clearing Fingers' things = Molly packing up CJ's things when he's flown back to Birmingham.

Poor Lt Hurst - needs to talk to Daddy and he's too busy. Looks like he's got a bit of a rotten unsupportive father.

Ilovelblue · 25/08/2020 21:31

We're as one again Rhu.

Georgie isn't actually carrying that coffin - it's not on her shoulder!

Ilovelblue · 25/08/2020 21:33

I suppose Lt Hurst's trumpet playing does have its part here.

Rhubarb01 · 25/08/2020 21:33

Ok, Lt Hurst isn't playing that trumpet either - he would need to use the valves. You can only blow a bugle without both hands.

Ilovelblue · 25/08/2020 21:34

I thought the pall bearers were supposed to be the same height roughly and Georgie is definitely smaller than the rest of them.

One Remembrance Day, I heard an army chaplain talk about the vigil the night before a body was repatriated from Bastion. It had me in tears.

Rhubarb01 · 25/08/2020 21:36

Yes, Georgie's pall bearing was symbolic only.

Georgie turns to Prof for advice.

Rhubarb01 · 25/08/2020 21:37

It annoys me a bit that they hold significant events like a funeral and imagine we won't find it strange that half the close family aren't there - no dad, no granny etc.

We hear Finger's final words....

Magi84 · 25/08/2020 21:37

Yes Prof is certainly makes his presence known and hovers round her most of the time

Rhubarb01 · 25/08/2020 21:38

Fluke is mentioned - fate, luck, chance etc - we come full circle from series 1.

Magi84 · 25/08/2020 21:38

No Lulu either Rhu

Ilovelblue · 25/08/2020 21:39

On the day of the funeral, Marie asks to hear the message from Fingers one more time. She must be beside herself. She asks Georgie for all the details. Georgie very wisely keeps the worst of the details to herself.

Meanwhile, back at Bastion the guys are supervising target practise.

Yes Magi - Dr Dishy certainly catches the eye but Prof is that steady, reliable one in the background.

Ilovelblue · 25/08/2020 21:40

Magi!!! Hello!

Lulu wasn’t even at the wedding. She had that fab line inSeries 2

Rhubarb01 · 25/08/2020 21:41

This is doubly painful for Georgie. That passage from "The Fault in our Stars" must feel like her own story with Elvis.

Magi84 · 25/08/2020 21:41

Helloilove I'm managing the odd comment although a bit slow about it

eejittwo · 25/08/2020 21:44

Although Marie is the grieving widow, he’s a much bigger part of Georgie’s life.

eejittwo · 25/08/2020 21:48

Kingy setting things up for the chat with the psych?

Ilovelblue · 25/08/2020 21:49

Fingers' death has given Monk food for thought with his own little boy.

Prof has a go at Mimi for her lies. They're acting as bodyguards for two Americans and overhear their conversation about Omar.

Sorry, just missed the last ten minutes - enormous spider came in out of the rain and I had to carry out a search and extraction exercise - Elvis would have been proud of me.

eejittwo · 25/08/2020 21:51

The arrival of Cheese

Rhubarb01 · 25/08/2020 21:52

Dr Dish is there for Georgie and she cops a good old hug - well who wouldn't. Bet Dr Dish enjoys feeling needed.
