Our Girl Thread 56 "Stay Obsessed"

We have been discussing the series Our Girl since the first one aired in 2014 and are now on number 56! Occasionally between discussions of Our Girl, we watch the 1990s series of Soldier Soldier.

Now they are out of the truck and carrying Fingers the last half km to the helicopter.

Meanwhile, Blue has pulled a fast one on the Taliban. They've still got "Omar". They reach the helicopter.

The medevac has arrived and everyone piles on board. Jackson has been injured in the crossfire.

Lt Hurst makes the helicopter wait for the SF guys to arrive and they manage it just in time.

Gosh that was so tense.

I'd hug Dr Dishy too - what a relief.

They arrive back at the base. Georgie throws herself at Dr Antonio and Fingers is wheeled into theatre.

The brigadier is really out of touch with the troops, isn't he! Though I did like his caustic comment about the £2 million troop carrier they abandoned.

But Spanner is safe.,.

"Seat of Pants" stuff - Kingy verges on the edge of insolence.

Sorry to hear about the Colonel's "wind" problem - needs some gaviscon or something.

Ah, Blue is nice. Wish there had been more of him.

Throbber is absolutely disgusting. Sorry, but I just don't see the need for this conversation.

More star gazing just like series 1.

I'm beginning to see this series as bringing everything full circle.

Throbber brings the tone down though.

And Blue is lovely too ...

Yes, ilove it does seem a bit out of place although I remember a fairly yucky comment about a telephone in series 1.

That brigadier is unbelievably pompous.

I was thinking that Blue and Spanner deserve a series of their own - without Peanut, one of the brighter spots in the broccoli.

Don't worry Fingers - Georgie has brought you an omelette in case you are hungry.

Prof is so thoughtful and brings Georgie some food.

The alarm goes off. Things don't look good for Fingers. Georgie is ushered out of theatre and Prof looks after her.

I thought he would make it. So sad.

At least it must be some comfort to Marie to know that Georgie was there with him.

Ah, so sad. Poor Fingers.

It's curtains for Fingers. Everyone is in shock.

(I felt sorry that they'd killed him off and wouldn't be in any future series but since this was the last series anyway, as we found out, it didn't matter quite the same).

A lovely speech from Kingy. Very sensitive.

Georgie is the one to ring Marie. At least she's doing it and not somebody like the pompous brigadier.
