We have been discussing the series Our Girl since the first one aired in 2014 and are now on number 56! Occasionally between discussions of Our Girl, we watch the 1990s series of Soldier Soldier.

He is thwarted and walks away before discarding the phone. A bomb goes off, somewhere.

eejittwo · 16/06/2020 21:50

See, they get on the second bus twice.

Rhubarb01 · 16/06/2020 21:50

Interesting how Elvis turns up through the window.

Rhubarb01 · 16/06/2020 21:51

Uh..oh.. the security guard has arrived known as Grace.

Ilovelblue · 16/06/2020 21:51

Elvis makes his usual entrance by shinning up the drainpipe! A good way to avoid Grace and Max I guess.

However, Grace appears and throws him out. He must slide down the drainpipe again!

She didn't scare him off because he's sitting in the garden.

Rhubarb01 · 16/06/2020 21:52

Elvis isn't going to waste an opportunity to speak to her. He still loves her and he wants to be with her. She's not really sure of her feelings.

eejittwo · 16/06/2020 21:53

Grace is such a pain

Ilovelblue · 16/06/2020 21:54

It would appear Jamie has had a change of heart and they kiss and make up. Georgie has managed to lie her way through when Jamie asks that nothing did happen in Kenya.

Georgie announces that she's going to leave the army.

Meanwhile Dr Dull is back and we have to put up with a majorly, overlong snogging scene. Sorry, too much of that and not enough of anyone else similarly engaged. Sad

But....Georgie lies to him!

Ilovelblue · 16/06/2020 21:56

eejit, I've watched this episode many times and I have to admit, I'd never noticed about the bus mistake. I'm going to go back now and watch it again.

Ah, but there was just too long a gap before she said ‘No’

eejittwo · 16/06/2020 21:57

Really creepy ending- yuck.

Ilovelblue · 16/06/2020 21:57

Now, decisions, decisions. Shall I watch the depressing news or shall I watch the last episode of the Salisbury Poisonings? I think I'll avoid the news.

We're in the midst of a thunderstorm here.

Thanks for new thread ilove. Great stuff this evening. Lots going on in that episode. I had forgotten how irritated I felt by Marie, and Grace come to that. So far the only one who knows Elivis's reason for not turning up for the wedding is Georgie and yet they all just chase him away and call him a twat. I know it was inexcusable but I for one would have been dying to know something.

Good picture of Elvis and CJ together for this thread, show how absolutely fragged CJ was.

Ilovelblue · 16/06/2020 22:39

Magi, I do screenshots so infrequently that I forget how to do them. I find it easiest to do them from my phone but had to load up the episode from iplayer first. You're right, it was a good episode. You might have guessed I do find Elvis in his black get-up very fetching! :)

I think the second one is my favourite eejit It's where he says "We're on boys!" as if he's really excited.

I love that line.
Thinking about that encounter in the cafe - as I’ve said, she and Elvis talk to each other quite differently from the way she talks to Jamie, so even someone as thick as Jamie will pick up on the tone of a conversation, even if he can’t hear the words.

Magi84 · 18/06/2020 12:50

When you think about that eejit it makes you realise that MK's acting really was good in that respect in particular. In fact her whole demeanour is completely different around Elvis than around Jamie.

Ilovelblue · 23/06/2020 16:47

Afternoon all. Are we ready for the delights of God's own pencil tonight?

OP posts:
Rhubarb01 · 23/06/2020 17:29

Oh yes, ready for the conclusion tonight. It has a few favourite little moments - although, I am increasingly feeling sympathetic to poor Jamie as I rewatch this time round. The lad hasn't really done anything wrong apart from loving Georgie and being a very decent 'catch' in many parents' eyes. Will always prefer Elvis, of course, but I do hope he managed to put this behind him.

I was just thinking about magi's comment about MK's acting and thinking how much I would like to see her do something completely different and manage to pull off a totally different accent - maybe a period drama or something (not another Northern lass in a Catherine Cookson type tale though!). I always liked her in Corrie and I think she's had some great scenes in OG (the hostage stuff in episode 2 is particularly good), but it's hard to get away from the rather glamorous-looking, northern girl roles. It would be interesting.
